unjust and inhumane practices

HSBC Vietnam deserves a negative star.
The bank has no sense of customer service, they are totally driven with a profit mindset and blocking the customer from using their own money.
Whilst i understand HSBC blocks the credit cards if the account holder's work visa is under renewal process but the bank goes one step ahead to block the debit card without any prior notice or official communication from the bank. Denying me access to my own funds is not only unjustified but also inhumane.

Honestly- stay far away

Honestly- stay far away!
I’ve never left satisfied. If it’s not a constantly blocked card or account, it’s them sending me emails that I qualify for a Premier credit card, and when I get there, the offer has miraculously expired. The hours are also during my working hours so everytime I get there, I need to take leave and end up not getting done what I wanted anyway.
All in all, not a great experience for expats at all. Friends at other international banks have 1% of the problems I have.

Garbage service, staff!!!

Garbage, trash, rubbish, or something I can use to describe services here at HSBC Vietnam. DO NOT WASTE your time with them; they think they are high-class workers and don’t talk to ordinary people. Take your business somewhere else, please.

HSBC Vietnam are a bunch of inefficient…

HSBC Vietnam are a bunch of inefficient crooks. I was new, so my employer somehow convinced me into opening an account with them.

Do not open an account with them! They can't understand English properly. They charge you a lot of money for making overseas transaction and conversion fees are very bad. They will even charge you for requesting a statement of transactions, which will take ages to reach you. They don't reply to your messages or requests. Their mobile app is a toy and too slow.

They asked me if I need an HSBC premier account in UK and India. I agreed and even after making many calls and exchanging emails they could't open account there. Why? Because their managers keep forgetting the tepelphonic appointments, don't read emails properely. They are fooling the customers. We will make YouTube video to make the public aware of their poor services.

I am so disappointed l

I am so disappointed. They lied, saying I could transfer money coming from valid sources internationally. I wasted my time providing all sorts of documents accrediting the sources (including work contract, trc, full bank statements from other banks, etc). They were not transparent about their policies from the start, manipulating me into transferring a big amount of savings or depositing my salary. After months as a customer, I feel I have wasted time and money by becoming a customer of this bank.

I sent a formal complaint through email and, after a month, I have not heard back from them.

I do not recommend this bank to any foreigners. Vietcombank is way better and I should have never changed. Mi experience occurred in the branch between Hai Ba Trung and Hoan Kiem, but I am sure in other branches this would not be any different.

I wish I had read the reviews before…

I wish I had read the reviews before approaching them in their Da Nang office. It was a horrible experience, a joke actually. I came to open an account but was treated no less than a criminal. I extended my patience a great deal but had to give up eventually because it did not make any sense being interrogated and threatened as if I were a real criminal sitting in a police station. I try to understand that they may not target individual customers, but they could better be straightforward about that and be more polite as it should be for any service. Such a nonsense.

Loan and transaction's fee are joke and ridiculously high ( 2 times higher than other bank)

1 star is way too much id prefer minus 5.

Dont want to give 1 because they are not that good, to trigger happy to close accounts and cancel cards. They care not where you are if your starnded or without access to funds. Customer service is non-existant, no phone calls, no SMS, no emails, you constantly need to be asking where is this and where is that. HSBC - Vietnam are quite frankly garbage, i can say any day over the last 10 years, because they never change, same old shenanigns, and i have been loyal, but for anybody else coming to Vietnam. Choose another bank.

Horrible HSBC Vietnam

I want to add to the chorus of complaints about HSBC Vietnam service and attitude. The branch in Thao Dien took over 30 days to process my application for a simple personal account and still could not open it. Ms. Ngan was dishonest, unprofessional and irresponsible. I went to another bank and my account was opened in 15 minutes. Please stay away from HSBC Vietnam.

Horrible bank & customer service

Absolutely horrible bank & customer service, even for Premier customers. For an international bank transfer, I was quoted a much higher exchange rate compared to other services, but when the money is cleared, a much lower rate is applied. I lost 8M VND for a transfer because of it!

They also do periodic reviews of your account and question who, why you transact with, in my case, even ask for contracts of sales. No respect for personal privacy & liberty whatsoever.

Stay away at all costs. Go to a local bank for a much better & more personal service.

Subpar customer Service from HSBC Premier Team

The premier team (Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Thao and Ms. Giang, Ms. Huyen) in Vietnam, purported to be dedicated to serving premier clients, unfortunately failed to respond to a client request many times. Their level of service was below expectations, lacking professionalism and commitment both to their tasks and their clients. Despite escalating concerns to their managers, there was no effort from management to reach out or rectify the situation. The situation remains unchanged, making it one of the most unsatisfactory customer service experiences I've ever had with a bank.

HSBC policy discriminates against foreigners

HSBC demands foreigners to have over double the monthly income of Vietnamese citizens in order to get the same service! When asked what the reason for this, all they can say is this is the bank policy and we have 'no responsibility' to explain the reason for it.

Many Vietnamese banks offer the same services to foreigners as to Vietnamese with the same conditions. There is no legal requirement for HSBC to do this. HSBC in other countries does not seem to apply such a policy.

For one of the world's largest international banks, it is unbelievable that they are willing to put in place a discriminatory policy based on nationality.

I would give zero stars if I could

I would give zero stars if I could. HSBC has to be the worst bank in the world. I have never experienced such poor service and lack of services and technology in their app. The app is so basic it looks like it was made by a 5 year old or someone who's never had to do any banking before. I could do better. My card was stolen, and I was told I couldn't reorder a new card on the lost and stolen line. I had to fill in a form and email it. 1 week later no one has even bothered to reply to my email. I've sent 7 emails asking for a bank card and nothing. Then someone says I should call them. I did that a week ago and was told I can't reorder a bank card over the phone. So I tried web chat. I sat their for 20 minutes waiting for an agent and no one came. Utterly ridiculous. I have no cash, what am I supposed to do? The website is terrible, the app is worse, and the web chat - is well chat-less. I am withdrawing my money and moving to a different bank.

Warning

Warning: if you intend to deposit cash in an HSBC Vietnam ATM make sure you:
1. do it in banking hours
2. insist that a member of staff accompanies you
3. count out the cash in front of them (and a CCTV camera) acknowledging the amount before inserting.

I know it's a pain in but their machines miscount and you will NOT get your money back, despite trying for 3 months in my case. As for the staff complaining, well hard luck; they can complain to their managers who will have to sort the problem out properly. Another person was going through the exact same claim while I stood there so it's happening more than once.

Be ready and for each visit and for any purpose to spend 30-90 minutes.
There are no words to describe the zero attitude, zero service attitude.
If you need to meet with a non teller officer, do not be surprise for no one to support you for over 2 hours.
Furthermore, the bank "lost" all of my information and I was required to open a all new account.
Lucky me, that they eventually restored my data.

HSBC ATM located in Vietnam is horrible, they extra charging transaction fee plus currencies fee without notify the clients. I withdraw from an atm at LE DAI HANH quan 11, on Aug 3rd 2021. add charges to my withdrawal up to 10% this is rediculous plus an oversea charges! I want to bring this issue to HSBC head quarter attention. because I had been contacting Hsbc and those representatives kept telling me they can proof of my receipts by mail. I was pissed because I have proof and they just don't want to look into it. It is my money that Vietnamese bank is stealing from us.
