Avoid Jennings

Without a doubt, the most unethical management company around.

My elderly parents owned a property managed by Jennings, and for 24 years, they paid their service charge on a standing order. My father became very ill and suffered from dementia. He passed away 3 1/2 years ago, and I had to then manage all paperwork etc and take care of my disabled mother.

One day we received a demand from a law firm, which the Ombudsman is currently investigating, for non payment of the service charge, of which we were billed £300 in costs. I called Jennings to find out why a law firm was involved when they could have simply phoned me as I had had previous phone dialogue with them. They said they would not speak to me, and I had to talk to their lawyers. I went back to the lawyer and asked what happened to the standing order. They stated Jennings had switched accounts and the standing order was not valid. This response added another £500 to the bill. We now owed £800 to the lawyers. I called Jennings and they again told me to speak to their lawyers. I simply wanted to pay and end this hell, but Jennings had other ideas. I asked the law firm to contact Jennings and remove the late payment charge. They said no and upped the bill by another £280. I ended up paying £1280 for something that could have easily been resolved with a single phone call. I immediately put the flat on the market at a reduced price and moved my mother into another property. After 24 years, Jennings traumatised this woman for something that could have easily been resolved.

The flat my mother is in now is occupied predominantly by elderly people, and the management company are wonderful.

If you have elderly parents, then avoid this company. They genuinely do not care about people...only money.

I want to give “No Stars” but that…

I want to give “No Stars” but that doesn’t appear to be an option. They cannot possibly remain in business for much longer? Just a joke. Inexperienced rude staff. Zero accountability. The Annual Accounts they produced for our Estate are laughable. They don’t know how much they have spent or on what. DEPLORABLE.

Jennings and Barret: Worst Block Management Ever

Jennings and Barret manange the block my flats are in. They have failed to have a leak repaired since January. They do not return calls, they do not reply to emails and they do not act promptly to urgent situations. Do not appoint them your block management, and do not buy or rent a flat in a block that is managed by them.

My tenant reported a leak on the 7th of January. Water was coming through the ceiling and on to her bed. At first Jennings and Barret claimed they were taking action, but as the weeks then months rolled by, the leak continued. I am now having to incur legal expense to get them to do as they should.

Absolutely terrible estate agent performance

Absolutely terrible performance, poor photographs which they then blame on the occupants instead of taking responsibility, and as a result, no viewings. If you need to sell your property, find a trustworthy agent. This company deserves to be sanctioned

Don't try to sell or buy through Jennings & Barrett!

I put my flat on sale through this Agent. In 3 weeks they had zero viewings. All that happened was to reduce the price by 10k on their recommendation.

They blame the quality of the interior photos for the lack of viewings due to there being sitting tenants. That is just unprofessional. They keep getting my name and the address wrong.

Another agent has proposed visits. Jennings & Barrett refuse to allow a dual agency. I am cancelling but refusing to pay for their shoddy photos.

Best avoid this agency !

Awful management!

Awful management. Not contactable after weeks of trying. Poor communication regarding service charge, quick to get solicitors in. Will leave you with a CCJ and paying 4 times the service charge via court.

On a general level - Rising service charges and almost doubled parking fees over 12 months. Directors of building, sent a long list of questions related to fees, no transparent answers. Unavailable to communicate. No replies to emails going back 3 months
