Think twice
Edit: I have one good thing to say about this company and that is that Dave in customer care has worked to resolve the following issues, I am grateful for him and his efforts. Jewel have now decided to compensate me for the difficulties I have experienced.
I will attempt to summarise our experience but the list of reasons for the 1 star review is extensive.
- Install was subcontracted to a team who were vocal about being less than happy to be there, didn't have correct lifting device for scaffold, didn't have all necessary materials - rude to me, grumpy, difficult. I had to project manage and problem solve for them all day.
- Had to visit 4 times to install it as they were missing bits (all different people). Install should have taken 1-2 days.
- None of them then checked the system was all connected and working as it should be.
Faults with the system:
- Battery wasn't discharging to system,
- Inverter was incorrectly programmed and nearly over-heated
- CT Clamps on wrong way round
- Wiring was untidy and secured badly at side of house (cable tied to downpipe)
-Eddi was installed visibly damaged and was using grid power
-Zappi EV charger wasn't earthed.
Most of these issues took several visits, head scratching and me making suggestions from online forums myself for them to be resolved and all took MONTHS of chasing. I'm sure I am forgetting others too...
-Jewel blocked my phone number so I couldn't call the office, when I called on 141 or from my husbands phone it let me straight through.
-Scaffolding wasn't struck until I prompted, guys came with what looked like an under-age lad and dropped scaffold poles through my deck, damaging several places, and dropped a handful of poles on the side of our BBQ scratching that, dragging it through our side-walk way and damaging even more of the decking.
- Jewel wouldn't resolve decking for months, refused to pay out compensation, guys who came to do it said they would go get the stuff and then literally disappeared, never came back. We ended up doing it all ourselves with just enough money from Jewel in the end for the boards and a bit of paint which took us, a couple with 2 young kids, over 7 full days of labour.
- Months later our roof started leaking, a roof tile had been cracked and one had slipped completely away from the solar bracket causing significant internal damage which took months to resolve again.
They rarely knew the answers to questions about the system, misinformed me about its capabilities and the limitations of installed products, took months to resolve every issue…
Dave has tried to reassure me that they are working hard to ensure the teams they use are more reliable, knowledgeable and through my bad experience it has lead to them making changes on how they operate. Lets hope thats true and other customers have a better experience than us.
