Very supportive staff helped me move when i needed a place in a hurry

I can highly recommend Tina Margetts as a Property Manager. She has been my property manager for many years and replies promptly to my requests and emails. Very good customer service.

Here will be the fastest way to contact with agency, since they are ignoring my phone calls and emails. Please, can someone from agency John Shepherd could write me an email, why they are ignoring me? And why i got messege about inspection and noone showed up? And if i would have another inspection in the future?

The problem is I do not know how to conrtact with you! Pohne calls not pick up or we will call you back and nothing, and emails are ignored as well! So whtas the other way to contact with John Shepherd agency?

We’ve had a great experience with our property manager Tina Margarets. She is very professional, responsive, and always quick to address any questions or maintenance requests. We would happy recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and approachable property manager.

I have a number of residential tree rental properties managed by John Shepherd, and Gita Patel has been looking after them. She is excellent. We have been working together for some years now, and I fully trust her in her professionalism, her concern for my interests and the tenants, and her skill and ability to get things down. I've used other management agents before, and I can honestly say that Gita excels them all.

I have know Gita Patel now for many years both from being a consultant at Bigwoods and latterly also as a management client. She has been very efficient in every aspect from good management through to following through without delay on all enquiries. She is so helpful to both myself and my wife and she is an absolute great asset to your company.

Avoid John Shepherd at all costs. Very unprofessional service!

My experience with John Shepherd was one of the most stressful, time-consuming, and costly experiences I have ever had.

When I needed to leave my tenancy early, I tried to do everything properly, including finding a replacement tenant myself. Instead of being given clear guidance on the process, I was met with confusing information, aggressive and intimidating correspondence, inconsistent financial figures, repeated payment demands, and constant references to court action and County Court Judgments while the amounts being claimed were still being disputed.

Different members of staff gave me different balances, charges appeared and later disappeared without explanation, and supporting evidence for some charges was only provided after I repeatedly requested it and raised formal complaints. Communication was poor, confusing, disrespectful and unnecessarily pressuring,throughout.

After taking my complaint through John Shepherd's complaints process and then to The Property Ombudsman, the Ombudsman recognised shortcomings in their communication, accepted that the inconsistent figures caused avoidable confusion, aggravation and inconvenience, and the agent increased its goodwill compensation following the Ombudsman's involvement.

The entire process took months, caused unnecessary stress, wasted a huge amount of my time, and had a real impact on my studies and work.

Based on my experience, I would never use John Shepherd again and would strongly advise others to think very carefully before renting through them.

my queries and handles emergencies quickly. A pleasure to deal with. John Shepherd have always found me reliable tenants who paid rent on time. The rent payments reached me promptly. They kept me updated on UK safety rules and legal certificates.Their service is
first class. I would highly recommend them.

We have been dealing with this company for many years.
They have always looked after our best interest. The staff is very good, Gita Patel has been very efficient in all matters. she responds quickly and gets the work done. She has been very kind and helpful.

I have found John Shepherd to be extremely unprofessional throughout my tenancy. We moved into our property in early 2026, and from the very beginning it became clear that resolving even the simplest issues would be a lengthy and frustrating process.

It regularly takes weeks just to receive a response regarding reported faults, and months for issues to be addressed, if they are dealt with at all. Communication is poor, updates are infrequent, and there appears to be very little urgency when it comes to resolving problems that affect tenants.

Unfortunately, I do not feel that John Shepherd has its tenants’ best interests at heart. Rather than being proactive and supportive, they seem reluctant to take responsibility or act promptly when faults are reported. As tenants paying for a property and a service, this level of customer care is unacceptable.

Overall, my experience has been extremely disappointing. I would not recommend John Shepherd based on the lack of professionalism, poor communication, and excessive delays in resolving maintenance issues. I hope they take steps to improve their service and place greater importance on supporting their tenants.

Tina is always very helpful, approachable and deals with any issues or questions I have with speed.

Tina has been an excellent property manager. She was really helpful especially at the end of our tenancy.
