Many customers appreciate the quick arrival of the locksmiths and their efficiency in resolving lock issues, often praising specific staff members for their professionalism and helpfulness. Some people report being charged much more than expected, with additional fees appearing on invoices, and feeling pressured into accepting high prices due to their vulnerable situations. There are also concerns about incomplete work and a lack of responsibility from the locksmiths when issues arise, leading to further complications and costs.

Solid service but extortionate price

I'd really avoid using this company unless you're in an absolute pinch and have no choice.

The actual service was fairly good in that the man arrived very quickly and was able to get me back into my home within 20m of arriving. In that sense, they came to my rescue very quickly and efficiently which was great.

The cost, however, felt extortionate. I was told that it would cost £55 to have a technician come out to my propery but the exact cost would depend on the amount of work the technician needs to do when he arrives.

Upon arriving, the technician immediately said the only option was to drill the lock and replace it entirely. He said my lock was a complex one and that drilling was the only option, but I'm very skeptical.

The total cost came to ~£500 which honestly doesn't seem right at all - and this was me going for the cheapest option and resisting a £200 more expensive "higher security" lock. I didn't feel able to say no having already spent £55 just on the callout, but the price feels borderline scam.

Tomorrow, I'm going to call around some other locksmith companies out of interest and get their views. I'll delete this review if their prices come out in the same ballpark but I suspect I've just been scammed...

Atrocious!

Appalling. Please avoid this company like the plague and always read reviews before you employ a locksmith.i could not do this at the time of this incident. I was the victim of an extortionate scam and left with no option but to fork out a sum of money which was at least two thirds higher than most decent, honest locksmiths would charge. This company, ran by a Romanian called Christian Mihai Oltean, based at a rundown address in Ealing has a landline number which cuts out after the first ring, Everytning was dodgy and screamed scam but I was in no position to quibble about the price. Hugely expensive and cost as outlined by the engineer bore no relation to the website. No attempt was made to pick the lock, just instant drilling and the whole thing was wrapped up in minutes. Having seen numerous TV programmes about locksmith scams, there was I, the victim of one, but I had no choice. My mistake was using this awful company. AVOID AVOID AVOID. I shall be reporting this company to the relevant authorities.

⭐☆☆☆☆

I had a very disappointing experience with 24H Locksmith and would not recommend their services based on my experience.

The locksmith who attended, Gabriel, was unable to pick the lock and repeatedly stated that it was impossible to pick. He suggested drilling into the door as the solution. However, after contacting another locksmith company, they were able to pick the exact same lock successfully and without causing any damage. This makes me seriously question the assessment I was given.

Throughout the visit, Gabriel came across as rude, arrogant, and unprofessional. I also felt under pressure to agree to additional work and higher costs rather than being given clear and impartial advice about my options.

I was also unhappy with the pricing. The costs discussed did not match my understanding of what I was later asked to pay.

What made the situation even more frustrating was the complete lack of response from the company afterwards. I emailed 24H Locksmith twice regarding my concerns and never received a reply. I also called multiple times and was repeatedly told that the matter would be raised with a manager and that someone would get back to me. Despite these assurances, no manager ever contacted me and my complaint appears to have been ignored.

When speaking to the office staff by phone, I found them to be rude and dismissive. Rather than taking my concerns seriously and attempting to resolve the issue professionally, I felt that I was simply being brushed off.

Overall, I paid for a service that failed to resolve the problem, was told the lock was impossible to pick when another locksmith opened it without damage, experienced poor customer service from both the attending locksmith and the office staff, and received no meaningful response when attempting to raise a complaint. Very disappointing experience.

The locksmith himself was sound but I was quoted between 90 and 150 over the phone then the locksmith turns up and says it will cost me 210. He does the work which took about 5 minutes and gave me a bill of over 250 because he left out the VAT. It’s not difficult to give a proper quote.

Locksmith was excellent and felt he was following company policy and procedures, however, significant and exorbitant hidden fees and costs well above the price of other local locksmiths and the cost of the materials, as well as hidden VAT. Was supposed to be under £100 and, despite me checking if they would be required to drill the lock, when that ultimately turned out to be require, it rose to £330.

Reply from 24H Locksmiths LTD

Hi Callum,

Thank you for your feedback — we’re pleased to hear that you found the locksmith professional and following correct procedures.

We’d like to clarify that the lock required both gaining entry and replacement, which goes beyond a standard non-destructive entry. As with all jobs, pricing is assessed on site once the work has been fully evaluated, as the method of entry and condition of the lock cannot be confirmed in advance.

All prices were discussed and agreed prior to the work being carried out. The final cost reflects the labour, materials, and the out-of-hours emergency attendance, which does carry a higher rate due to the nature of a 24/7 rapid response service.

We believe the amount charged is fair for the service provided under these circumstances. That said, we do appreciate your feedback regarding communication and will continue to improve in this area.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

I am writing this review still in utter disbelief of the "service" this company has provided us. Today my wife and I , both in our 80s, came home to find our front door lock had seized meaning we could not gain access to our home. We had no other option than to call for an emergency locksmith as it was past normal shop hours. We were told on the phone that the cost would be about £50. The technician arrived fairly quickly and with just one look announced that it was a high security lock and would have to be drilled out. I asked the cost again and was quoted about another £189. The job was completed with a new lock fitted. I was then presented with a bill of £1300 ! This consisted of call out charge, drilling out charge. new lock barrel charge, new lock charge, labour charge for drilling old lock, labour charge for fitting new lock and charge for 2year guarantee (which comes with the lock anyway). I obviously questioned the amounts and finally the technician said he could give me the 2 year guarantee for free! But he would not budge with any of the other charges. So I paid £1111 pounds for a 20 minute job and no clearing up. What a total rip-off do not use this company!!

AVOID - High-pressure tactics to change a lock after emergency call out...

Use high-pressure tactics during a call out for an emergency to make you change your lock (and significantly overcharge for it). I didn't need a new lock I later realised, however they claimed I did and charged £400+ for it, substantially greater than the market rate. The locksmith, whilst resolved the initial issue of a key stuck in the lock quickly, was then rude, dismissive and aggressive. Would strongly suggest avoiding using this company and finding one registered with the Master Locksmiths Association.

DO NOT USE!

DO NOT USE!! Charged £320 for a lock drilling (initially quoted £50) and then they wanted an additional £500 to replace it. Was not told the charges in advance - feels like a fraud.

They are scammers

They are scammers! My tenant called them as she couldn't open the door. They charged 50 straight away. Then they gave me a call and said in total would be around 400, which is an insane amount considering it just needed a new lock! However, I accepted to proceed. Total bill came as 658,8, with lines as "Labour for open door by force 180; Labout for fitt matt. 80; LAbour for fit the mechanics 50.

I kept challenging these additional charges but he was not leaving the property/ my tenant until the payment was sent. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

good service excessive cost

The person came quickly .. I am elderly and alone and did not have luxury of comparison.
i was guttural in that he did make a good attempt to use the existing lock and asked me if i was happy before proceeding to drilling out old lock replacing cutting into door jamb to fit well and finishing the job neatly and sweeping up etc. I eould give him 10/10 for the work but I felt it was too high cost. i had no idea how high but that was down to 24H and not the excellent engineer.
with reflection i see that the co took advantage of my helplessness financially but otherwise my problem was solved quickly.

Charged £426 for a call out and new lock

It's a bank holiday Monday and I reached out for an emergency call out.
The locksmith arrived immediately said he'd have to drill through the lock.
On the phone I explained that the lock was a basic lock- whilst it was higher security, it was on the lower end of high security locks.

Initially on the phone I was told that it would be £75 for the call out fee. When I asked for a full quote on the phone I was told that I had to wait and see what the locksmith said because they needed to see the lock itself.
In the end I was charged £75 for the call out, £160 to open the door and £120 for a new basic lock....plus VAT.
I was desperate to get in as I wasn't feeling well so under pressure I took the quote.
The locksmith himself was super efficient and did a great job, but I've been massively overcharged for less than £30 mins work and when I called back to discuss the final charge, there was no support.

Do yourself a favour and if you can afford to wait a little while, call around and get a better quote.
