My daughter did work experience here, they said they would pay her travel expenses. After many emails and time spent chasing this, still nothing. Their accounts department are a shambles.

I contacted KPMG to advise me about minimizing a capital gains on real property. After paying $7500 In fees, I was told what my current taxes would be. I knew that before I contacted it. No advice at all. A waste of money!

KPMG recruited me in 2013 to join them…

KPMG recruited me in 2013 to join them as Managing Director in one of their U.S. offices. I was not in a sales position, had never done sales, and there was never any discussion of sales targets during the recruitment process. I was told I was being recruited because of my vast wealth of operational expertise & domain experience.

During the interview process, I asked the women who would become my first boss how the company sold. She laughed and said, "We don't. We just answer the phone!" After I accepted the offer, but during the onboarding process, one of the partners commented that they were excited to "mine your deep rolodex." I reached out to my boss and expressed grave concern. I reminded her that I had not been in sales, had NO rolodex of industry contacts, and could not produce any. She told me to relax and not worry about it.

Nevertheless, within weeks after starting, I was handed sales targets. When I expressed concern to my boss, she again told me to relax and said the sales would come. They never did. But within about a year or so, I started getting beat up for missing sales targets. I tried selling, but found myself battling other colleagues for sales credit even when I made a sale. It seems since everyone gets beat up over their numbers, it is a cut throat, back-stabbing environment where professionals fight each other for sales credit on deals. (I'm not a fighter.)

Eventually I was told "the gloves are off" and the bludgeoning became very direct. I was harassed and abused verbally to the point that I broke down in Minneapolis airport one night just sobbing on the floor. I was later fired without much fanfare. Ironically, I had just made a great sale and the client wanted me to deliver it. So they gave me notice of my firing, but had me stay to finish that client project.

While the company brags about its ethics and high standards, I saw none of that. I experienced a very insincere environment where nobody is trusted, everyone is suspect, people have to stab each other in the back for their own personal survival. Clients are not well served - rather their engagements are staffed with the youngest, least experienced people so that the company can make larger margins.

This may be a good company for a newbie right out of college, or an intern to learn. But for seasoned professionals like myself, it proved to be a miserable wretch of an experience. I've never regretted taking a job more than I regretted this one. I've also never missed KPMG for even one tiny minute since I left that fateful day in November 2016.

This company cost us almost $5500 extra…

This company cost us almost $5500 extra in penalties assessed by CRA for a year when we moved from Canada to the USA and had complicated dual filings. We only owed $2000 in taxes. They were late with paperwork and filings. We almost missed our USA tax extention deadline as well and had to scramble with 1 day notice while we were on vacation in a hotel with no access to printers etc. They were unwilling to help negotiate anything after the fact and left us hanging. Run, RUN from this place. Do NOT let them do any work for you. Don't trust them. ... even when they say we will help you when the assessment comes. They don't.

Terrible

Terrible, service, insanely slow, to react. Late with payroll. We left our small local bookeeper for KPMG. Pretty good start then HYPER slow annual accounts, late payroll. Think twice before leaving a good service provider. You will get VERY frustrated. The BIG and amazing name is not justified.

Tax Advice

I recently received tax advice from a Manager in the London office that was nothing short of superb. The individual's knowledge of EIS and other niche tax schemes was of a level far superior to that of other 'professional' service firms.

all prestige and no performance

I was a creditor at madissons hotel group in Northern Ireland; KPMG the liquidator. I am still waiting 6 years on for any sort of communication from KPMG in spite of numerous reminders which have got automated replies. Why pay a top price liquidator when you can get a shoddy job done more cheaply.
