Bad For Mesh
Have had two mesh systems from Linksys for a number of years. Plan to abandon them in favor of a more reliable and modern company. Linksys hubs will work, but when they go out for some reason, troubleshooting them is pure frustration. The Linksys app and web interface is woefully not up to par. Basically you can't even get to your hubs to reboot them. It's completely ridiculous. Years ago prior there were simple web interfaces that at least let you "see" your WiFi equipment, reboot it, etc. Now, you have to rely mainly on a phone app that is a piece of garbage in Linksys's case.
Nodes thinks they are cabled and cant be added again
Nodes thinks they are cabled - and after a reset you cant add them to the network again. The App is really bad UX and support is non excisting
Linksys warranty? Not!
I purchased the Linksys E5400 router on June 19, 2024. It died on January 27, 2025. I contacted Linksys, since the router is still under warranty. I was told they no longer had the E5400 in-stock and could only offer a $9 prorated refund, provided that I pay return shipping, which they estimated at $20-$24. Unreal. Very disappointed.
Here is the response I recieved:
Hi Rick,
Thank you for your response.
Upon reviewing your case, we found that your router’s model is the E5400 with serial number 30N10M27C13301. The warranty for this device began on May 12, 2024.
Unfortunately, we no longer have stock for the E5400, and as your purchase was made through Walmart, we are unable to offer a direct replacement. However, we can provide you with a pro-rated refund based on the warranty start date. The pro-rated amount comes to $9.24.
Please note, you would need to cover the shipping costs for returning the defective unit, which could range from $20 to $24.
Let us know if you'd like to proceed with this option.
Best regards,
Linksys Customer Support
Poor Product
I bought a Linksys router 1 year and a month ago. It stopped working and the manufacturers warranty had expired. Prior to this, I used a Netgear router that lasted for 7 years with no problems.
Do not buy Linksys produtcs!
The company should go bankrupt for their practises. If you think you'll ever need any kind of support with their products forget about. If you considering buying a product to try it out thinking that you might be able to return it, DON'T! You will be stuck with. They do not offer returns, they will make you contact technical support from where they will say they don't deal with returns and you have to contact customers support. But they don't have customer support. I've been trying to return the product for more than a week now and every time I get the same answer "please wait 24 to 48 hours to be contacted back by customer support". There is no way for me to return it right now so I'm stuck with their product that I don't want to use. This company is a scam, don't waste your money!
Awful company
Awful company! Bought a network switch in January… payment didn’t go through so customer service told me to reorder. I placed a second order elsewhere and then found out my payment for first order was finally taken. Ended up with 2 products. Sent the product back to Linksys where original payment had failed and it’s been 3 months and I’m over £100 out of pocket as they can’t find the parcel I sent back and won’t give me a refund. Honestly useless company and wish I’d never used them. Not happy at all.
Horrible business practices
Horrible business practices. do not expect to get any customer service help while your product is supposed to be under warranty. I purchased my router 3 months ago and they told me it was out of warranty and could not assist me with any information, asked for assistance with their mobile app was told sorry your product is out of warranty we can not assist you with that information. I asked the representative Lea how is something out of warranty that was just purchased 3 months ago and she told me sorry i can not provide you any information your product is out of warranty but their is several articles your welcome to read. I have never in my life dealt with such insane and ridiculous information in life. I know when I purchased it and I find absolutely horrible that a company will not even answer a simple question about their product. Do better because your competitors do I can say that.
TERRIBLE RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE !!
TERRIBLE RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE !!! I recieved my two node Atlas 6 system and one node was faulty. I spent 45 min on the phone to setup a replacement and then the next day received a call from there tech support asking what my issue was. I told them I spent 45 min on the phone yesterday to set up an exchange and the women said she had no record of my call. Im now returing the whole setup for a refund !!!!!DO YOURSELF A FAVOR STAY AWAY FROM LINKSYS THEY ARE AWFUL !!!!
Thank you Miko!
Miko is an amazing customer service rep. (I hope the spelling is correct). He was able to help me figure out why my internet wasn't working and was so patient and polite. I had read so many good reviews about netgear, but the three reps I talked to from there were so rude and dismissive. I've seen a lot of negative reviews for Linksys, but Miko just fixed my issue, and quickly. I'm so happy with the customer service I received tonight
Faulty router out-the-box and poor service support
I bought a Linksys WRT3200ACM router to replace an older TP-Link router that I had for 6 years. The Linksys router never worked and I could not configure the management interface on the router because it told me that I needed a firmware upgrade for the router out-the-box, but I could not upgrade the firmware, as I could not get onto the interface on the box. Round and round in circles. Two days of effort and I got absolutely nowhere. In the end I have bought another TP-Link which actually works. Linksys customer service were terrible and told me that I needed a support contract for a brand new router or maybe the router was faulty. Terrible product and I have been involved in network comms myself for near 35 years and I know when something is good and something is bad. Linksys as bad.
Customer service is a joke
Customer service is a joke. If a node needs replacing under warranty you'll have better luck trying to get blood out of a stone. Greedy corporate company not interested in customer satisfaction for the sake of sending a replacement. Customer service try every trick in the book to fob you off. Disgraceful.
Horrible service
Horrible service. My mesh is less than one year old and they told me that they offer 3months warranty and I have to pay 100 dollars as fee for investigation. Absolutely shocking.
Absolutely horrible support and…
Absolutely horrible support and hardware.
All of a sudden everything on the mesh is completely out of order.
An update during the night killed several mesh networks that I know of.
Fails like “no internet” on all nodes except the main and another mesh was only 3 out of 5 nodes working but with 1/10 th of the speed just a few hours before that.
Website for my country didn’t work, support phone didn’t work, chat help couldn’t connect and generally no customer service at all.
Shame on you.
Finally one of the owners of one mesh found a workaround so that we can get Wi-Fi to work decently but no info from Linksys or any help anywhere.
This is completely UNACCEPTABLE from Linksys.
Customer support is an absolute disgrace.
What an absolute disgrace this company have become since Foxconn acquired both Belkin and Linksys. Customer support is not what it should be called, customer run-a-round would be a better description. I had an issue with a Velop node still under warranty. They asked me to send it back and then proceeded to waste time not replace the product, offer me lesser, cheaper products to the point where I gave up and decided to take it to small claims court.
We Are Not Here To Help You
Many years ago when I was new to networks and routers I purchased a Linksys brand router - I cannot remember which model it was but had to go deep into the Windows Control Panel to get it to work.
I phoned customer services of which one guy was helpful in taking me through the steps. Unfortunately something didn’t work and I had to phone back again.
This time I was put through to someone else and explained the situation, but got an abrupt answer along the line “We are not here to teach you how to use Windows”. I didn’t phone for Windows support as I needed help in setting the router correctly which would mean tweaking some settings in Windows Control Panel but didn’t get any help.
As a result of this, I have avoided Linksys, and this must have been well over ten years ago. If they aren’t prepared to help customers set their devices up correctly and instead accuse customers of seeking help not covered by the service provided, then what use is this service in situations like this?
I sometimes see models by Linksys which catch my attention and look good, but as soon as I see Linksys I turn away and don’t look for any more information on the product.
This is what abrupt and poor customer service can cause.
Sharp practice and deliberately confusing emails from Linksys customer service
Purchased a Linksys router and 2 Velop nodes to create a mesh wifi for a home office. One node never worked properly and Linksys technical support and customer service have given me the run around, doing everything in their power to avoid properly replacing the defective unit. Eventually I returned the defective unit (at my own cost) to them and have suffered the inconvenience of not having a connected home office They refused to send a replacement without having the defective unit returned to them). They then sent me an incorrect replacement (different type of Velop node) and are now sending me dishonest emails trying to confuse the issue. This is straight up sharp practice. Clearly this is a company with no integrity or moral compass. I don't know if other mesh wifi providers are better, but I do know that they cannot be worse. I would urge anyone reading this review to take their business elsewhere.
Linksys Tri-Band WiFi Router for Home (Max-Stream AC2200 MU-MIMO Fast Wireless Router - Died after Two years!!
Though the router worked as expected I am only giving two stars as it died after two years. After years of buying routers and more so only Linksys I finally gave up with the traditional routers and went with eero 6 by Amazon which is similar to Nest Wifi by Google.
For years I have bought the traditional Router, and to be noted all by Linksys regardless of whoever acquired them. Finally after repeated routers dying after two years I threw in the towel.
My main issue with the Linksys is why not give a two year warranty since your product is going to be dead in two years. This would make Linksys make a better product which would lasted three years. My first router by Linksys in the 90s lasted five years with no issues.
I cannot complain on the features as the router did everything as expected.
Lets see how long the eero 6 lasts!! I am hoping at least three years if not longer.
Bad Customer Service, and Product, Linksys Velop AC4600
I bought a mesh system consisting of 1 main unit, and 2 nodes. One of the 2 nodes died, and this was verified over the phone by the Linksys Technical Support Department. On the same day, it processed the replacement order after getting my credit card information for a so-called “Advanced Replacement “ meaning they would send me a replacement first, and then upon receipt of the replacement, I would have to return the defective node or they would charge my credit card $100 for the dead node. In the process of ordering a replacement for me, a representative checked, clearly said that they had had the identical node “in-house”, and that I would not have to wait for someone to search for it, and that they would send it right away!
A few days after the replacement request was supposedly “processed”, I got the return label shipping label, with all the terms and conditions...
That was thirteen days ago! I have had to contact them multiple times during the thirteen-day period for not getting a tracking number, and having no updates on the new unit going somewhere!
I called Linksys again, went through the extensive loops of pressing this and that option, waited in the queue, and listened to the same music multiple times; upon getting a live person on the line, I was asked multiple questions, and put on hold again!! The representative “apologized for the inconvenience that the node had been “out of stock” while I was told thirteen days ago just the opposite!! I asked why I was told so, but then the representative only repeated that it had been out of stock without saying why there was such a contradiction! When she was hard pressed, she told me that it had been “out of stock” (again) and they would reprocess the replacement, and I would get it in “two days”! I asked why nobody extended me the least courtesy to let me know it was “out of stock”? She repeated herself (again without telling me the real issues for the redundant and extreme delay of the replacement)!
Ironically, just yesterday, I learned from a technician of my ISP that Linksys is a “No! No!” brand! Cisco was reputable; it bought Linksys, but Linksys is not good at all! Had I known the Customer Service of Linksys could be that bad, I would not have bought the mesh! It is not a mesh for WiFi, but a “mess” of frustration and convoluted bureaucracy! Earlier today, I have read some reviews on Linksys, and learned how bad the its products and its Customer Service are!
I WOULD NEVER BUY THIS BRAND AGAIN!
Updated: 7/20/2020
I did get the replacement node in exactly 2 days as promised. For this reason, I add one more star to the rating for for a total of two stars; at least that representative did keep the promise, and did not give me only lips service (and let her next coworker handle a mad customer)! Thank you for that to the last representative I had to talk to about the hassle of getting a replacement!
Setting up the replacement node to add to the remaining survivors of the set was fairly easy. I did not have to call customer service. Perhaps, the only thing good about the brand is the 3-year warranty on the model I had bought! And if you are willing to go through what I have gone through, and don’t have a second thought about how luckier than I you could be, you can try the brand and its products.
If I ever referred anyone to Linksys, I would do so with reservations.
Crap products
Worst product ever!
Worst product ever!
Bought a mesh product and constantly loses internet connection!
Support is not helpful and pretty much ignore my messages. I'm so tired of this sh*it, that i wont even sell it to someone else - i'll rather throw it out!
