Worst customer service ever
The website automatically takes the name of the email account. This is not my official email in my passport, which you need to rent a car. Being a foreigner it is impossible to change this yourself, or via email, chat anything. No, you have to call an expensive number or visit in person. How am I ever supposed to do this, when I am living abroad and only want to rent for one holiday?
Worst customer service ever. Been contacting them 20 times, via email and whatsapp, and everytime they send me somewhere else!
The Risk of Pre-Paying
Due to severe traffic in Mexico City, I arrived several hours late to the pick-up location at Mexico City Airport, but still on the same rental day. I attempted to call the rental office beforehand but received no answer.
When I arrived, Localiza said my reserved vehicle was no longer available and only offered a much more expensive replacement car. I declined and was told to contact Booking.com regarding the refund.
Booking.com later classified the reservation as a no-show under the supplier policy and refused any refund, despite the fact that I arrived the same day and the supplier still had vehicles available at higher prices.
Legally they may be covered by the terms, but as a customer I found the experience disappointing and unfair. I ended up renting a similar car from Europcar at a normal market rate shortly afterward.
Just sharing this so others understand the risks of prepaid third-party rental bookings and strict no-show policies.
I returned the car with no issues…
I returned the car with no issues however they have not returned my bond money and it has been over a month. Contacting their customer service is met with their avoidance when it comes to this matter. I wouldn’t do business with them again.

Unprofessional service and lack of proper customer handling. The staff demonstrated insufficient knowledge and poor execution during the vehicle return inspection process. This situation is unacceptable and raises serious concerns about the company’s standards. A formal complaint will be filed with PROCON.

Avoid
Used and returned the car for less than 24 hours, got off the car once to take a break. When we returned the car they charged us a R150 fee for "excessive dirt" with no prior warning or indication of what they deemed "excessive". All the car had was a bit of sand in the footwell, which with a car rental company this scale you would expect to do some light hoovering after each customer.
Bare in mind we picked up the car from a seaside city/branch, you would think if that is the rules they live by they would be more specific. Upon speaking to customer service, telling them we weren't at any point told what they deemed as "excessive", 1 - unwilling to accept the mistake on their part, 2 - every reply is exactly the same so you might be talking to a bot. On top of that, you'll have 3-4 different agent replying separately with your complaint which makes it extremely frustrating to speak to them as you have to explain the situation, upload your own evidence multiple time, and to get the same boring reply that you're definitely in the wrong. Which again, I'm happy to admit if we had absolutely destroy the interior, but with some sand only, I find it extremely hard to believe and generally unheard of.
They obviously only care about taking your money than actually being a reasonable rental company.
Avoid at all cost.

Comprehensive insurance and billing, including theft coverage
If you're a tourist and don't speak the language, be careful!
They make no effort to communicate in any language other than Portuguese. There's no phone number to reach them. They charge outrageous insurance fees, claiming that the coverage you purchased through your booking site doesn't cover anything (even though the terms are clearly stated at the time of booking). When I returned the car, they charged me for two full tanks of ethanol even though only 10 liters of gas were missing—but where do you see that? The system seems to be well-oiled, especially when it comes to tourists, so if you’re not Brazilian and aren’t familiar with certain cultural norms, be very careful with this company.

Tive uma boa experiência no Aeroporto de Londrina; o atendente foi simpático, cortês e eficiente. Não gostei muito do Citroën Basalt, mas trata-se de um carro econômico. O processo de retirada e devolução foi fácil.

Absolutely abysmal service
Absolutely abysmal service. Car ended up breaking down, they collected the vehicle the next morning and left me with Uber vouchers but didn’t terminate the rental. I was being charged every day, until I realised. I tried to call them but no one spoke English. In the end I was lucky I had someone who could go to the dealership and resolve the issue but it’s embarrassing how bad the service is and this “Luxury SUV” was… I have emailed a formal complaint and have yet to receive a response.

I rent cars on all continents, roughly around 15 times per year, there is no service like Localiza. A fresh wind in car rental space. Global brands better start learning from them if they ever want to enter Brazil market. I wish there was Localiza in every country in the world.
