Our holiday at Lonicera Resort & Spa…

Our holiday at Lonicera Resort & Spa turned into a complete nightmare. One evening, while sitting with our group of 8 (men and women, simply playing cards and enjoying ourselves), another guest approached our table. He placed his drink down and started speaking to us in Russian. We politely told him several times “English, please” because none of us understood what he was saying. Out of nowhere, he suddenly punched my husband in the face, breaking his nose.

This was a shocking and terrifying experience. What made it even worse was the hotel management’s complete lack of response. They did absolutely nothing to help, protect us, or deal with the attacker. We felt unsafe and completely abandoned in what should have been a 5-star environment.

If you do not speak Russian and only speak English, I strongly recommend that you do not book this hotel. It is not safe, and the management clearly does not care about the wellbeing of their guests.

As for the hotel itself:
• The food is repetitive, bland, and very limited — the same things are served over and over.
• The rooms are far from the “5-star” quality advertised — they feel more like a basic 3-star at best.
• Everything inside the resort is overpriced, despite being advertised as “all inclusive.”
• The only positive side was the general staff (cleaning ladies, bartenders, and waiters) who were kind and friendly, but unfortunately, they barely speak English, which makes communication difficult.

We left feeling unsafe, disappointed, and cheated. Lonicera Resort & Spa is absolutely not worth the money, the stress, or the risk.

4day holiday 6 day nightmare

Not a hotel I would recommend or endeavour to stay at again. Whilst it is a large, well maintained resort it is not really a place for an English family to stay. Food is geared towards Eastern European’s, everything is stewed or boiled. There is some Turkish cuisine which was enjoyed however there were three occasions we had raw meat on our plates but no one was interested. There were several families taken down with food poisoning from raw kebab meat served. The kids buffet is a very misleading concept. The bar staff, restaurant staff and cleaners are mostly very pleasant and do their jobs well. The reception staff are very rude and arrogant and in most cases unwilling to help.

The “zoo” is a term that should be taken lightly. There are some birds, rabbits, goats and a dog caged up in sweltering heat. We were in a room not far and witnessed parents allowing kids to throw stones at the animals and generally trying to wind them up.

My son unfortunately had an accident on-site at one of the pools he was attended to by the lifeguard (for which I am very thankful) and was taken to the onsite clinic. I wasn’t worried as all over resort there were signs to say that all European insurances are accepted so nothing to worry about. From here he was transported not even 200metres in an ambulance, along with another family to a clinic just outside hotel to receive sutures. He was kept in for observation. Again there were large signs to say that “all European insurances accepted”. Discharge time given as 5pm and this is were the fun started they demanded £1500 there and then when u explained I would pay my excess and insurance we’re dealing with it they said they did not accept English insurance and held myself and my son hostage in the clinic for 2 1/2 hours. After around 20 phone calls with threats of police and British embassy, plus the threat of legal action from my insurance company did they let us go. The people in the clinic were bullies and thought it was funny all while terrifying a child! From the day we had notes posted to our room, they refused to acknowledge or answer emails from the insurance company for them to make payment and constantly made demands for cash from ourselves. Eventually they allowed me to take a picture of the bill to send to insurance company but again refused to engage. Fast forward to last day check out 12pm and put luggage in hold room. At 2pm we realised we needed something from a case and headed back only to find that the reception staff had allowed the clinic and not the secure baggage room to steal three of our cases. Reception staff laughed at us when approached for assistance, I asked for them to ring the police which they refused to do. After a lot of commotion and phone calls to insurance, hotel, British consulate where our items returned. I received threats via WhatsApp from the onsite clinic. We had to remove valuable items and keep them on our person spending the whole day stressing. We returned to luggage room at 8pm to collect our bags and there was suspicious activity, we had already been threatened on numerous occasions that they would try and stop us from leaving. Myself, my husband and our three children were effectively chased from the hotel as the baggage boy had been told not to give us our luggage, we had to run out of the gates and down the street sitting at side of road worrying awaiting transport leaving other family members in resort.

Over our stay we approached many people in resort for help Guest relations, Management and reception along with our in resort rep Abdullah from Star Holiday services all of whom were unwilling to help. We were even asked on numerous occasions why as two British families were we staying in this resort this should have set Alarm bells ringing!

So a 10 day holiday turned into a 4 day holiday and a 6 day nightmare for a family of 9. I would strongly advise against booking this resort especially English families I wouldn’t want anyone else to experience this nightmare. The only good point was me got to see more Of the area and Alanya than planned as we ventured out to find decent food.
