Very welcoming staff throughout (including the online representative, Nicholas), a dealership with a vast range of vehicles to sell or finance, refreshments to offer to customers and test drives arranged within minutes. Quality of the vehicle that I viewed? Shocking.
I viewed a white Seat Ibiza which when speaking to the representative, Motorpoint was proud to sell. Questionable within itself.
When walking around the car, I noticed that the wing mirror had hairline scratches on the edge (I can live with that), after further inspection, there were 4 instances of shabby paint work to patch up minor damage - with a shade of white that may as well have been black. When questioning it, the response I got was “it’s the same colour”?! As if.
I was kindly given the keys to enter the car and have a look at the interior before my appointment. Only to find 4 holes in the seats - only 2 of them can be seen on the images on the advert online (the other 2 have either been edited out, or have occurred during cleaning and preparing). Needless to say - false advertising and misleading customers to come and witness such a scam.
Going through the car some more, giving Motorpoint the benefit of the doubt as the damage and ludicrous repainting may have occurred from a previous owner. I check the insides of all the doors to be greeted by melted chocolate and sweets. Needless to say, this is down to Motorpoint themselves.
More? I oblige. The drivers window had scratches from left to right at the top. I would love to say that this was minor - but it was across the entire length of the window, about 5cm from the top downwards.
For the price that was asked for, needless to say I was not paying. When asking for a reduction of the price, the representative scoffed and said that the paint work was fine, that’s how the car is being sold - and the “car meets our standards”… excuse me?! I washed my hands after looking through the interior of the car that they tried to rip me off with - meets their standards? I don’t think.
Going to the use of blatantly photoshopped images/awful CGI for the exterior of your cars - whilst you’re taking pictures of the interior… the camera will also work for the exterior; which funnily enough - can be submitted for online adverts and would save someone from using Photoshop. You never know, it might also save someone a travel when they see the botched paint jobs that I’ve witnessed today and truly reflect the condition of the cars that are being sold.
Needless to say, this was a wasted trip from the north east of England, but at least I found a (national) dealership that I wouldn’t waste the time of day with again.

Also we have super salesman Marcin who looks after us wherever we visit, but all the staff have been friendly over the years and there is a nice atmosphere.

We recently purchased a nearly new car from motorpoint, fantastic price and excellent customer service and we love the car. All of the staff we dealt with were polite, friendly and not at all pushy. In Burnley Ashton had lots of advice around hybrids and the pros and cons etc, unfortunately they sold out of the car we liked and we ended up at Castleford where Charlotte dealt with us, she was professional whilst also friendly and made us feel relaxed, absolutely no pressure at any point which we have felt when visiting some car dealerships. Communication has been great and we enjoyed our motorpoint experience (3rd car from here now). Thank you!

I do not like buying cars. Taking the old one in to get it valued. Arranging the finance, insurance and tax.
But this time I felt as though all the stress was taken out of it.
