I couldn't set my availability and I received the help
I have been working with Newcross Healthcare for almost four years now, and I can honestly say that my experience has been amazing. The management is very supportive, professional and approachable, and the whole company is extremely well organised.
One of the things I particularly appreciate is how easy and convenient the app is to use. Everything is straightforward to navigate, from viewing and picking up shifts to managing payments. It genuinely doesn’t feel like you’re working through an agency because the process is so well organised and user-friendly.
The flexibility is also a huge advantage. If you need to earn some extra money or have an unexpected expense, you can pick up additional shifts and where eligible, access part of your earnings on the same day. This has been incredibly helpful and is honestly one of the things I value most about working with Newcross.
After almost four years, the fact that I am still with the company speaks for itself. I have had a very positive experience and would happily recommend Newcross Healthcare to my friends, family and anyone looking for a reliable and well-managed healthcare agency.
Thank you to the whole Newcross team for the great experience so far! ❤️

The clients are lovely to work with, and Newcross is one of the most organised companies I’ve come across. Today, I received a call back. I look forward to your review of the timeline of events and your response.
I live in a high widely populated area with loads of nursing homes. Newcross only offered me a few shifts then nothing for a year. They said they’d help and look into it but never did. What a huge waste of all the application process, mandatory training etc. staff are unhelpful. Would not recommend. I’ve been available every weekend and ready and willing to work.

Newcross healthcare from a service user perspective.
The good points
- some care staff are amazing and go above and beyond to care for me
- they have a larger pool of carers if they need cover- but often turn up with little or know knowledge about you
The bad
- The Karivo app is awful and makes it harder to look at notes, and medication, there are frequent mistakes that seem to take an age to resolve.
- Their recruitment process leaves a lot to be desired- people turning up with absolutely no idea how to interact (eg. Like anyone else!) with me, and talking to me as if I am a dementia patient. Leaning over me, not asking consent, on their phones, trying to do as little as possible, and to not speak to me. (Not everyone, but too many)
- no training on the social model of disability and / or how to work in complex situations- whether that is medical or practical. Often carers will not listen to me. Conversely, they need a lot of support from myself as a service user and other staff to complete basic tasks. This is a hard combination for me and takes a lot of energy!
-I have had carers who for example, cannot fill a MAR form, cannot get liquid meds ready- and who are looking for the “colour” of the medicine box, instead of looking at the label. Meds have gone missing and it is not deemed important
- I do not blame the carers for this, but the lack of in person training, mentoring and support that should be provided.
- sometimes carers just need support and not fear of criticism eg. Don’t want to ask the office for help etc
- carers cannot be sick, (!)and are given no support from the office to cover their shift, short notice cover is extremely difficult, and staff do not get any care/ understanding
- online training is set at a ridiculously low level and no other training is given that goes anyway to be adequate, preparing staff to manage medical crises, etc
- mistakes are not addressed, staff are criticised and not supported. Gross mistakes/ behaviour are conveniently skirted around, especially if they want a certain staff member to remain in place for the rota.
- carers and myself that speak up are labelled as “demanding “ or “difficult “, despite my best efforts to train their staff and make my package work.
- office staff are disconnected from what is happening, when my package was taken on by NC , we were promised more support and oversight from nursing / office staff this has not happened. Again, leading to more strain on my existing staff members and myself.
- they don’t answer the phone sometimes and you can go around a merrygo round of voicemail/ missed calls. Messages are not always passed on.
Conclusion;
If people have had care agencies in the past to be honest these types of issues are all too familiar. We often manage “despite” NC not because of their support.
If you are lucky to find some good staff then you can get through- but don’t expect more from NC - they are all talk and no action regarding long standing issues.
This is obviously only my perspective, but I have never heard of NC be spoken about, in any more positive terms, by those who work for or use their services.
The steps are simple and easy to follow and the chat system is also quick and helpful

When I joined, I joined to do supported living work, they were aware of a health issue that deteriorated, and I am about to be shown the door which I consider to be unfair as I have had excellent feedback from the three clients I have worked for over the past twelve months.

I have had an absolute waste of time with this company. DO NOT BELIEVE bots 5 star reviews. Tried to register and got through to interview stage. The company had all my work history and knew I did not meet their 'policy' of 6 months care/support work within the last three years ( I had ~3 months lately, but more years prev). That is fine. My question is, if you knew beforehand that I did not qualify, why let me book an interview then waste my time pretending to have one? Even before this, they have a very incompetent compliance team that are not clear on what they want from you. Over relying on AI to read cvs and tell them what to do. If you have no work stop wasting our time. They could have easily looked at my work history and say, not sufficient, please bring more before interview; if not cancel it.
