I would not recommend New Homes Law to anyone under any circumstances

We were initially appointed a Conveyancing Executive who, partway through the process, appeared to completely disappear from our case. Communication stopped and we were never given a clear explanation as to what had happened. From that point onwards, we seemed to be passed between multiple different members of the office.

This resulted in an incredibly frustrating experience. It often felt as though nobody had a proper understanding of our case. We were given incorrect or conflicting information and repeatedly had to explain matters or chase progress ourselves.

Communication became one of the biggest issues. Emails and promised callbacks regularly went unanswered despite repeated chasing. On one particularly frustrating occasion, after trying to contact the office more than 15 times throughout the same day from our usual number without getting an answer, we called again with our caller ID withheld — and the call was answered. Make of that what you will, but it certainly summed up our experience with communication.

Importantly, we did not immediately take this outside the firm. We raised our concerns with New Homes Law several times and gave them multiple opportunities to resolve the issues. We eventually made a formal complaint, but remained dissatisfied with the response and handling of our concerns.

As a result, we escalated our complaint to the Legal Ombudsman. The Legal Ombudsman ultimately found in our favour, and compensation was awarded and received.

Buying your first home should be an exciting milestone. Instead, a significant amount of our time was spent chasing our solicitors, trying to establish who was actually dealing with our case and questioning whether the information we were being given was correct.

Having ultimately needed an independent Ombudsman to become involved, with the matter resulting in a decision in our favour and compensation, I feel it's important to share our experience so that other prospective clients can make an informed decision.

Unfortunately, based on our experience, I could not recommend New Homes Law and would not use them again.

I just bought my new home and personally I am pretty pleased with their services. They have a good onboarding team that helps throughout the process. Kerry and Reuben who were managing my case made the process smooth with no issues.

At certain points, communication was a little slow, and there were times when we didn’t hear anything for a couple of days. However, whenever we contacted the team for an update, they were very responsive and helpful.

Overall, we were really pleased with the service. Given the circumstances we were dealing with at the start, the team were particularly supportive, understanding and reassuring throughout. We really appreciated their help and guidance and would definitely recommend their services.

Quite straightforward with communication mainly through e-mail. We completed purchase of the property in 3 months from the day we started the process and there was a chance for quicker turnaround if not sellers solicitors causing delays. I'd only say if you go ahead with them be mindful of extra fees they're trying to charge you for and check the invoice twice! Overall we had a good experience.

New homes law made the process very smooth with great communication.
