Plivo is a voice-first AI agent platform designed to streamline multi-channel customer engagement through various communication methods, including phone calls, chat, WhatsApp, SMS, email, and Slack. This innovative solution caters to consumer-facing businesses that aim to enhance their customer interactions by utilizing conversational AI agents. These agents are capable of initiating, answering, assisting, and completing customer conversations, delivering interactions that mimic human-like, natural-sounding dialogue across both voice and messaging channels. The platform is particularly beneficial for businesses looking for efficient customer communications without the need for extensive technical expertise. With Vibe, Plivo’s no-code AI agent builder, users can create and deploy custom voice agents simply by providing straightforward instructions in English. This user-friendly approach eliminates the need for programming skills, making it accessible to a wider range of users, from small businesses to large enterprises. The combination of built-in enterprise-grade telephony, deep partnerships with leading Text-to-Speech (TTS), Speech-to-Text (STT), and Large Language Model (LLM) providers allow companies to design production-ready low-latency (<500ms) voice AI agents at scale, with minimal operational overhead. The seamless integration with popular CRM and support tools further enhances its utility, allowing organisations to leverage existing systems and workflows. This capability is particularly valuable for companies seeking to maintain consistent customer experiences across multiple channels while ensuring that their AI agents can handle a variety of customer inquiries effectively. Plivo’s platform stands out for its vertically integrated Voice AI stack that unifies built-in telephony, speech recognition, synthesis, and reasoning layers in one low-latency system. This integration eliminates the complexity of stitching together multiple vendors, giving enterprises real-time responsiveness, carrier-grade reliability, and full control over voice quality. Combined with Plivo’s no-code Vibe builder and proven CPaaS infrastructure, businesses can move from prototype to production voice agent in minutes, not days. In addition to its AI agent capabilities, Plivo offers an enterprise-grade Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) suite. This suite includes essential tools such as SMS API, Voice API, WhatsApp API, Verify API, Number Masking, and SIP Trunking. These features provide enterprises with programmatic control over their voice and messaging infrastructure, enabling them to tailor communication strategies to their specific needs. By combining advanced AI technology with robust communication tools, Plivo equips businesses with the resources necessary to enhance customer engagement and drive operational efficiency.

Since the new UI and pricing structure…
Since the new UI and pricing structure came through, support is extremely hard to contact. You're faced with an AI that cant do anything unless your request conforms to your plan type. The communication around the plan changes was minimal, I only found out about this after support was denying a port-in request.
After finally reaching customer support, you're met with "pay us more, or we can't help you". Which is a terrible business model.
If you're a startup or small business, look elsewhere. Plivo is too expensive, too restrictive and customer support is locked behind a paywall. An expert lesson in how to strip your smaller customers of the service they expect/signed up for.
Business follows unfair practices
Business follows unfair practices. Capture business information and then deny trial requests wiithout giving any reasons.
Waste of time dont bother.
Signed up, gave all my business info, more than most people would. Small business. Just got a message saying we cant offer you a trial, no reason nothing. I gave a very comprehensive reason why I wanted to use the service, for example letting customers know when I was available etc. Waste of time dont bother.
Scam
We tried to use it as firebase's sms alternative, but it was huge mistake. not sure what 500 people in the companies are doing.
must be planning for bigger scam
Very Unreliable Provider
Plivo advertises itself as “the most reliable SMS provider.” In reality, it’s the opposite. A few years ago, their entire website went offline for several days because they forgot to renew their domain - this is something that even the most basic IT operation wouldn't miss. Domain registrars send multiple reminders, which they clearly ignored. As a software engineer who’s worked with many SMS providers, I’ve never seen anything this careless.
Recently, I tried to log into my old account to retrieve some information. The account was instantly blocked without explanation. I submitted a support request and waited and haven't received any response from them since then. It’s clear nothing has improved over the years.
I fail to see how it's acceptable to…
I fail to see how it's acceptable to blacklist someone based solely on a signup attempt without any actual information or verification. That feels like an incomprehensible form of discrimination.
It is terrible
It is terrible. I couldn't get a test account and I get an error. Tech support responds with a standard phrases without explanation. Some kind of strange service

Plivo
Went through the effort of trying to…
Went through the effort of trying to convince them to vet their services. They simply flat out deny allowing me to create an account even though the service we are building is 100% transactional with no marketing. I've never seen such rejection with absolutely zero explanation. I'm so glad I finally found these other bad reviews to get perspective on what I believe is just a really bad way of doing things. Yuck.
Utterly bad support and a nightmare. Just go with Twilio
Utterly bad support and a huge nightmare trying to contact the support to resolve a SMS pricing issue. And later left me being unable to receive any SMS from them yet being charged.
Some of their default SMS template does not even have the correct encoding and therefore segments your sms text unnecessarily and ends up costing you a lot more than what they advertise on their pricing page.
If you are the Plivo agent looking at this TrustPilot review, have a look at your support ticket: #359879
Complete waste of time and incompetent support. Went to Twilio instead.
This company is a scam
This company is a scam. They collect your personal data in the registration process only to tell you right afterwards that "based on risk assessment" they are not able to provide services.
What an utter nonsense.
they don't seem to be operating
they don't seem to be operating. New account not allowed with no reason give. I think this business is effectively closed.
Save yourself a massive headache, and stay away
Before I start, I see they have a 1 star rating. A few years ago I would have been shocked. But after todays issues, I am not shocked.
Well, I have been with Plivio for 5 years now. The 1st 4 years were great. Never any issues, and very helpful and easy to work with when transferring in numbers.
This last year something changed (probably management)
I noticed their support very slow, and not helpful at all. Stop replying to tickets.
Well last week I wanted to update my email address, and after about a week of back and fourth they reply with
"Hi Team,
We have received an update from our internal team and we wanted to inform you that, as part of our routine account audit processes, your account has been flagged due to one or more issues. Consequently, we have implemented a block on your account.
Our team has conducted a thorough assessment, and after careful consideration, our decision is final. We understand that this news may be unexpected, and we appreciate your understanding of the circumstances that have led us to make this decision."
Then they charged my credit card $33
As I checked my statement, they charged me another $25 last week as well.
Going to have to put in chargebacks.
What a shame.
Stay far away from Plivo
Stay far, far way. Plivo is nothing but a scam now. It's impossible to get a new account, and even existing accounts (I had one for five years) have been shut down without warning.
Romanian ROMAs
Romanian ROMA! Get lost you are F****ng thieves. STAY AWAY FROM THEM.
Plivo Auto Denial - Trial Account
"Risk assessment" denial after only asking for work email and two-question form. Scam.
Scam and waste of time and money
Scam and waste of time and money. Spoke to customer service and described use case and volume. They gave me competitive pricing and said sign up for account. Signed up and got auto denied due to some BS “risk asesmemt”. Seems
They are just collecting business emails for spam because they are auto denying everyone. We are a US company, 10+ years old, using SMS for internal notifications and NO marketing. Used Twilio for years. What kind of “risk assessment” are they conducting when you sign up with just email? For sure this is a phishing scam and needs to be avoided
Damn faggots
Damn faggots! Scam don't use their service! Steal my money!
Horrible experience
I waited 9 weeks to get my number verified and when it finally did, I got banned by the carriers on the second text message. Complete waste of time and money. Do not use this company!!!
