I am very impressed with the customer service I received. Although there was a problem with the quality of the plants in my original order, the company dealt with the issue quickly and efficiently. The replacement strawberry runners arrived in excellent condition, looking healthy and vigorous. I greatly appreciate the prompt response and commitment to customer satisfaction. Thank you for turning a disappointing experience into a positive one. Highly recommended.

Ordered two trees

Ordered two trees. Within a fortnight one was doing well and the other looked dead. When I queried this I was told to scratch the bark and see if it was green. If it was, the tree was alive and stood a chance. Not a particularly satisfactory resolution but I gave them the benefit and went along. A month late the tree is totally dead. Not impressed. Will never order from them again as they aren't interested in resolving issues.

Update: After following up with the rudest woman I have ever spoken to, I was told a replacement would be sent in Nov/Dec. A mere 8 months after my initial order! The woman seemed surprised that I found this unacceptable and requested a refund instead. Unsurprisingly I haven't the refund! If you check reviews before purchasing it would seriously consider purchasing elsewhere.

Reply from Pomona Fruits

We are sorry to hear that one of your trees have failed. It is certainly not the case that we are not interested in resolving issues. Bare root trees can sometimes break dormancy later than expected (particularly if they have been held back in coldstore). When this happens we always ask the customer to scratch the bark to see whether or not the tree is still alive. In the majority of cases, the tree will go on to break dormancy despite a late start. All of our trees are guaranteed for the first growing season and we always ask the customer to get back in touch later in the season if the tree fails to grow. If you can get back in touch with customer services we can arrange to send you a replacement at the appropriate time of year.

*** UPDATE ***

You first contacted us within a few weeks of planting your order advising us of your concerns regarding the fruit tree. We asked for a photo (to help our advisors give appropriate information). We received the photos and responded with advisor’s comments and advice. As the tree was alive (the main stem was green) we asked you to contact us in late summer with an update, if needed. We heard no more until we received notification about your above review via Trustpilot's notification service. We responded on this platform asking you to get in touch to enable us to arrange the despatch of a replacement tree at the appropriate time for planting, which you did. We responded two days later advising that we would send a replacement tree late November/December (which is the start of the planting season for bare rooted plants). We then received a phone call from you the same afternoon where you objected to the delay. The member of staff you spoke to was surprised that you found this unacceptable as most of our customers understand about growing times but explaining this to you proved to be very difficult due to your aggressive manner. The member of staff you spoke to was most upset by your call - I overheard the conversation and whilst she wasn’t jovial in her response (understandably, given how you had spoken to her) she most certainly wasn’t rude. Our policy is to replace any plants that fail within the guarantee period so quite rightly she had to check with a more senior member of staff (myself) before she could agree to a refund. This was done whilst you were on the phone. The refund request was passed to the accounts department the next working day (Monday) and a refund was made back to your Paypal account at 09.05 the next morning (Tuesday) BEFORE your updated review where you claim “Unsurprisingly I haven't the refund!”

Exemplary Service…

I have dealt with Pomona Fruitsfor several years and have always been extremely impressed by the good sized healthy plants provided, the expert shaping of trees as cordons or step-overs and sturdy packing.
Recently a dwarf Apricot tree I purchased failed to grow away strongly and partially died back and by May showed minimal signs of life, I sought advice and was immediately given a replacement. I consider this exemplary service and this prompted this post. I will certainly order from them again with confidence.

Absolutely delighted with Pomona fruits …

Absolutely delighted with all the stuff I’ve bought from Pomona fruits. Recently about a year ago I bought a cordon Cherry tree and 3 lots of strawberries. All of these plants have since burst into life and I’m expecting a wonderful harvest from both this year. I love the advice that came with the tree and plants and have followed it carefully and all plants are looking very healthy and the tree is now needing a bit of a haircut as it has grown so well!
Previous to this I have ordered the Haxnicks raised bed system through Pomona - they always arrived well packaged and on time and Pomona sent out a replacement pack of screws etc when I discovered some bits were broken on the same day by express delivery. Excellent customer service!
Would definitely recommend Pomona to anyone.

The best there is

A beautiful tree of the size listed, which was securely packed and arrived in excellent condition. The courier was about an hour early (unlike some other carrier who keep plants in transit for ages) and was cheerful and efficient. Pomona are not the cheapest supplier but you get what you are paying for and are definitely our go-to for fruit trees and plants

Terrible customer service on wrongly described product

Received a 80-100 cm pomegranate tree,
It was under 79 cm, it wasn’t a big deal but it slightly annoyed me! Rang them hoping maybe just a sorry, they asked for photos. Sent photos and got a phone call back to be told to measure the plant I have to STRETCH/PULL the tallest branch!!! That took my slight annoyance to a different level! Terrible arrogance and customer service.

Best fruit trees

I have bought many fruit trees in the past but none are as good as the ones I have recently received from Pomona. Really healthy plant lots of roots ( so often the roots are trimmed and the tap root is broken of or damaged)
. Will certainly be buying from them again.

Ming was so helpful with pruning tips

Ming was so helpful with tips on pruning a pear tree whose care had been neglected in a garden where I volunteer. No questions asked, he just helped me figure out what to do, even though the tree wasn't one of 'theirs'. I've bought some of my best trees from Pomona including a peach that's thriving still after 15 years.

Birthday Gift

Was delighted to receive such unexpected prompt delivery for a birthday gift. A fig tree in excellent health (even boasting a fig!). The lady at Pomona Fruits was so helpful and made sure the gift was on time.

A thriving orchard

I bought a Saturne peach tree because my son and his wife were having a baby and the description stated that children enjoy picking the fruit. After only 2 years there were so many fruit this year that I had to thin about 20 leaving 7 well spaced. My 2 year old granddaughter did pick the peaches! I have bought many other fruit trees from Pomona and now have a thriving orchard of apples, pears, apricots, cherries, plums, damsons mulberry figs. I can recommend this company for the quality of the trees. We are in Cheshire so not a mild or sheltered climate here.
