  1. Timeshare Agency

Written by the company

Like most great companies, it all started with an idea. In 1974, Jon and Christel DeHaan set out to add greater value to the timeshare experience when they pioneered the vacation exchange concept. The DeHaans developed a system that allowed owners to exchange time at their home resort for a stay at a different affiliated property—delivering a new level of flexibility and choice to timeshare owners and revolutionizing an industry in the process. Today, RCI remains the leader in vacation exchange, offering the world’s largest vacation exchange network and providing unrivaled products and services to enhance the vacation ownership experience. It’s one of the many reasons why more resorts trust RCI to deliver vacation exchange services to its subscribing members than any other company across the globe

Bookings

I have tried to make a booking through RCI for multiple locations over the past 6-8 months. I have tried multiple states with dates from 1 month to 8 months out. The best I could do is for 3 nights 8 months out. Most preferences were nothing available to only 1 night here and there. Why is this an option for Hilton Grand Vacations?

I sadly had a sudden death in the family and needed to cancel a vacation. As you can imagine there’s a lot of cancellations and costs that need to be accounted for when something like this happens. RCI proved to be the only company/service that would NOT grant any sort of leniency in this situation regardless of death certificate proof. Very disappointing especially as a long time owner.

RCI and Corral Sands Resort STOLE our unit and LIED to get me to take down bad review

This was my original post that I later adjusted(upon request from RCI) to 5 star after I was assured that RCI's mistakes had been corrected...TrustPilot took my original review down???
We are long time RCI members in good standing since 1989. RCI is losing business as customer service has plummeted with new owners(Hotels and Leisure). Resort selections are down at least 25% in recent years under new ownership probably due to resorts cutting out the middle man(RCI) and handling all sale in-house now.
Back in December 2025, we called to bank our Sea Scape week for trade and reiterated "The Sea Scape Resort property. Normally we get a conformation e-mail but didn't notice. In March, we called back to put in our trade request and were informed that they had banked our Hilton Head Resort instead. We were sent to the transferred to Kristy in escalated case dept and were informed that she was handling the case and would find a comparable unit to put the family that snatched it up immediately from RCI bank and keep us posted.

In the next 2 months, we were contacted 3 times with no news, no changes so we called Kristy back to get more details and updated. I asked her to give us our unit back now and continue looking for a comparable unit for them and she blew up at me. She said she didn't like the tone of my accusation that she isn't doing anything. She also said that she had contacted the purchasers of our unit and they know they have a great deal and refused to give it back to RCI. She also said that called are not recorded, she said that is illegal and then blamed us for probably putting in wrong unit request. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she barked, "I am a supervisor!" I asked to speak to her supervisor and she started going off on me again, "I have been doing everything and more and keeping in contact..."

I asked 4 times for a supervisor or manager and finally she said she would have a boss supervisor call us back within 24 hours. It's been 4 days and still no phone call from RCI anyone?!? We will be using what we have banked and never use RCI again. We looked for other resorts that we have stayed at before and a lot of them are no longer available through RCI, FIGURES...
UPDATE: I was contacted by RCI 2 days after I left this review and was asked for membership acct and owner info to review our situation which I emailed immediately. We were sent an email confirmation of our week being taken back out from RCI bank and returned to us and he also asked me to take my BAD review down. FASTFORWARD to October 6, 2026 we called ahead to Corral Sands(manages our Port O Call Villa) who confirmed our upcoming stay and gave us the confirmation number. 4 days later, after an 8 hour drive we arrived at Corral Sands only to find out that they gave our unit away shortly before we arrived to check-in at 5:30. They put us up in a COMPARABLE unit but denied responsibility saying that RCI never told them that we had been given our villa back?!? What the truth that we found out was that Corral Sands had just given our unit to the owners of villa #4 because they were replacing the A/C unit in their unit, YES, we do know Brenda O. and family(owners of #4 villa). Silvie(front desk Mgr lied to us the whole time at check-in just like RCI LIED to us before and after check-in. PS...you'd think that an RCI representative would work or at least be available on the busiest check-in/check-out days of Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday but NO...Cheryl only works Monday thru Friday and is completely unavailable on weekends. Utterly disgusted with BOTH and will never use or recommend RCI again and as far as Corral Sands Resort, we will update this post if needed.

5-Star Review for Diane at RCI

5-Star Review for Diane at RCI – Exceptional Customer Service, Compassion, and Dedication!

If I could give Diane more than five stars, I absolutely would! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I frequently speak with Diane, an RCI representative, when booking my extended stays as I navigate the transition of relocating from one state to another. Moving is already an incredibly stressful and financially demanding experience, and having someone like Diane in my corner has been an absolute blessing.

Diane has consistently gone above and beyond to ensure my reservations are finalized, and I cannot express enough how much I appreciate her kindness, patience, and dedication. There have been occasions when financial limitations have required me to make reservations within less than the 48-hour booking window. At times, I have also encountered situations where the available inventory appears grayed out online, preventing me from completing a reservation on my own.

Rather than simply telling me what I could not do, Diane has repeatedly taken the initiative to explore available options and assist me with completing my bookings. On more than one occasion, she has gone the extra mile by patiently waiting for the front office to open so she could speak directly with a manager and request the necessary override approval to help finalize my reservation.

That level of dedication is rare, and it deserves to be recognized!

What stands out most about Diane is not just her ability to assist with bookings, but the genuine care and determination she demonstrates throughout the process. She is patient, hardworking, understanding, and committed to making sure her customers feel heard and leave the call satisfied. She does not make me feel like an inconvenience when I need assistance. Instead, she approaches each situation with kindness and a willingness to help find a solution.

During a time when I am managing the many financial, emotional, and logistical challenges that come with relocating, Diane has been a tremendous source of relief. Sometimes, a little compassion and a willingness to go the extra mile can make an overwhelming situation feel much more manageable. Diane has done exactly that for me on multiple occasions.

RCI, please recognize the value of employees like Diane! Representatives who demonstrate this level of professionalism, empathy, patience, and commitment are an asset to any organization. She is a true example of what exceptional customer service should look like.

Thank you, Diane, for your kindness, your patience, your hard work, and your determination to help me when I need it most. You have made a genuine difference during a stressful chapter of my life, and I hope you know that your efforts do not go unnoticed or unappreciated.

RCI is fortunate to have you, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with you. Thank you for consistently turning what could be a stressful booking experience into one where I feel supported and cared for.

Keep being the amazing person and representative you are, Diane. You deserve all the recognition for the outstanding service you provide! 💛

RCI charges more for less

Today I tried to reserve a two night stay in Orlando Fl using RCI points. After a great deal of time & research, I found I could reserve a two night stay through booking.com for $85 less than RCI quoted online which also would have charged me 9000 points. I am totally disgusted with RCI after being a member for 30 + years and will be cancelling my membership. Additionally, RCI often has no availabilty but the same resort can be reserved easily through other websites.

Harassment

Can I give negative starts? This company is HORRIBLE. They won’t stop calling me. I’ve blocked every number they call from and then they call from another. I have asked several times to be removed from their list and they assure me they will, however, they don’t. Last week, I called three times to try and get my call escalated and I was hung up on and treated rudely. I have told them that the only reason they have my information is because my grandmother was an owner and I was an authorized contact. Mind you, my grandmother died a year ago. I have told them she is dead, the timeshare knows she is dead, and they just won’t stop calling me to use her points. It is to the level of harassment as my mother is the contact for my grandmother, they aren’t calling for billing, they are calling to sell. This should be illegal. It is harassment. I receive at least 1 call daily.

Extremely untrusted agent

Extremely untrusted agent. I had two properties both managed by Mr Haider owner of RCL. One ended up rented to multiple tenants without my consent. The second handed back to me tenanted which should have been vacant. It took me 2 years to evict them with legal cost of over 11k. The business is poorly managed with little knowledge. I would like to warn anyone willing to do business with RCL.

Drop RCI and go with International Intervals

RCI used to be a great company, no longer. If your home resort is a member of RCI and International Intervals, I would drop RCI and go with International Intervals. If they are only with RCI, then I would write letters, make calls to your home resort and request them to include International Intervals with your membership. The more letters they receive, the better chance they will include them.

Headline: 30-year loyalty rewarded with point inflation and useless fees

After 30 years with RCI, I’m done. The current points structure is designed to leave you constantly short of what you need to book a stay, leaving you stuck paying maintenance fees for vacations you can't even take. I haven't been able to book anything decent in 3 years. You're far better off booking directly through Hilton Honors or Wyndham Rewards. RCI no longer cares about its original customer base.

RCI makes grand promises and delivers…Crap

RCI makes grand promises and delivers the lowest of low class. We recently stayed at the patriot Inn in Williamsburg, Virginia. It is my opinion that I thought I was sentenced to life in prison. They would send me to the patriot Inn. Long boring hallways. A so-called meeting room with four chairs and a book. It’s laughable to think anyone would have a substantial meeting in this dump. If you think the patriot in is higher than a half star than you are easily satisfied. There is no lounge. There are no amenities that you can purchase. We had to give a tip to the person who does housekeeping to get towels. You have the same sheets and towels for the entire week. It is as bland as bland can be. Stay away from this dump and furthermore stay away from RCI they make promises and they don’t keep any of them. 20 years ago I had a timeshare at Eagles nest in Marco Island, Florida. It was the top of the line. A beautiful condo right out on the ocean. I traded it for a place in the Poconos. When I arrive in the Poconos, the place was so dilapidated and so awful that I gave up whatever I paid for it and left immediately. RCI promises you to the moon and gives you crap. Don’t ever deal with them. I warned my wife to stay away from them, but because we had points, she gave them a chance. We blew out of the place midway through and went into Richmond, Virginia to a beautiful Hilton hotel, and never look back. I don’t know what more I can say but . RCI sucks.L07/04/2026

Forgotten what made them great

Seems RCI has forgotten what made them big. Value, selection, convenience. All what seems to be missing since new ownership. There’s a true story of a U.S. company that hired a pen pusher/ numbers cruncher Apple C.E.O. Thinking it would make them better. They stripped the deals/coupons and went to single pricing. The customers left as they no longer perceived value. The stock plummeted and the company filed bankruptcy, never recovered. They forgot what made them big. RCI has stripped the exchanges , the reason we deposit our weeks. They’ve stripped the Last call options, our perceived value for being a member. They’ve left us with overpriced rentals on the units we used to exchange for and try to tell us it’s less than other sites. Hardly, I’ve rented Airbnb’s for less. Motto of this story is “ If it’s not broke don’t fix it” RCI you’ve forgotten what made that company great. You’ve got some pen pusher/ numbers cruncher at the helm that could be your doom. I’d fire that person and go back to what made you great while you still can.

Cancellation policy need updated

I have been a loyal member of this vacation resort for over 20 years, and this experience has been incredibly disappointing.

I had to cancel my vacation due to unforeseen circumstances. Even though I purchased points protection, I was still required to forfeit the payment I made. That completely defeats the purpose of paying for protection in the first place.

After two decades of loyalty, I expected much better customer service and a policy that reflects compassion and flexibility. Life happens, and many hardworking, low-income families save for months or even years to take a vacation. Losing that money places an unnecessary financial burden on people who are already struggling.

It's time for this company to review and update its cancellation and points protection policies to better support loyal members and accommodate families facing financial hardships. Customer loyalty should be valued, not overlooked.

I hope management takes this feedback seriously and makes meaningful changes so other long-time members don't have the same disappointing experience.

We were able to get out of our…

We were able to get out of our timeshare by deeding it back to the resort. They let us out for a fee and legal fee to record deed back to them. Then I ask to cancel our RCI membership in that we do not own a timeshare. Ar first they said we will send you a refund. Now they are saying someone has use .of our time share and they cannot give us refund. Then I get E mail they will check into this. For the most part we have liked RCI in the beginning but it seem to get harder to get a decent timeshare exchange unless you are willing to spent a lot of money. All we want is to be out of RCI now that we have no timeshare. I was a young police officer with a family and timeshare gave us opportunity to enjoy space. Now I am retired Detective Law enforcement and Private and don't need timeshare or RCI. I hope they do the right thing!

Absolutely Shocking.

Absolutely Shocking.

You deposit your timeshare and there is negative benefit from doing so as noted below.

Its not clear that once your timeshare is deposited you cannot retrieve it.

Holidays can be found cheaper online at other websites which include flights despite claims of huge savings.

There is no monetary benefit from the deposited weeks.

FAQ's are woeful.

On top of this there is a yearly fee.

Avoid. Expensive mistake for me i would say that has cost me £2.5k.

Terrible experience excess fees not…

Terrible experience excess fees not being refunded.

A year ago in 2025 I enquired about signing up to RCI. As a timeshare owner with a home resort in the USA, but as an Australian resident, after a few days of checking I was informed I could only sign up to RCI USA where they charge about 245% more expensive annual fees for the option I wanted. I didn't sign up at that time.

In 2026, I went ahead and signed up and paid the USA fees for 3 years membership. I then got my home resort to deposit my weeks.

Searches and attempts to book didn't seem to work correctly, so I phoned them and was informed I had been converted to a Pacific membership (the one that's much cheaper) because of my home address and AUD currency.

So they converted me to the AUD $179 membership for 3 years and charged me $440 AUD (from $309 USD).

The rep explained that because of this conversion, I was entitled to a partial refund from RCI. He would contact RCI USA and get it arranged and call me back. 2 weeks later, no word, no refund, just silence.

Judging by the terrible reviews, RCI has not a care in the world about their reputation, the only care seems to be about money - keeping as much of your money as they possibly can.

At one point RCI was amazing... Not anymore

At one point RCI was amazing! You would pay a very low fee and exchange points and you were good to go. Ever since Wynhdam bought out RCI, its been AWFUL!! It's NOT WORTH IT unless you are a Wynhdam timeshare owner. They are CROOKS and have added on so many fees. So at one point a 7night vacation you would only pay the fee and your points. Now it costs $300 exchange fee, points, a cost for everyday staying there, maintenance fees, parking fees, housekeeping fees etc; you name it. In the end, the cost for a vacation ends up being cheaper elsewhere; its really not worth to book with RCI and better to find your own vacation. It's sad when GREED comes knocking in when RCI was once a great program.

Family friendly resorts

I just took my wife and 2 kids for 2 months in South Africa using our RCI to stay at multiple resorts for multiple weeks and cannot rave about RCI loudly enough.
The kids were doted on and we were treated like royalty each step of the way.
Thanks RCI you made it so easy to book beautiful resorts at super low cost.
Highly recommend.

Absolutely fraudulent and now that…

Absolutely fraudulent and now that we've caught them in the act they won't reply to me at all. They told me my initial $525 was resort fees just to 1) not get to stay in the place that we booked at through them(not even the same resort) and 2) find out that the resort never charged those fees and they never received that money. Do not use, DO NOT USE, DO NOT USE them. I spoke with them on the phone asking about the fees and they couldn't explain. I had to go because I was out of international minutes. I asked them to explain the charges via email (documented) they started calling me over and over again and not answering my emails. The people on island outed them and explained that none of that money actually ever ends up with the resorts or condo owners that they claim it does. They are blatantly lying. We've been encouraged to report them to the board of tourism here as well. Shocking and so insidious.
