What a fantastic little railway

What a fantastic little railway! First impressions count and the Aberystwyth site is immaculate. Plenty of parking (although I travelled by rail) and a lovely well kept shop/booking office. I got there early as I like to try heritage railway breakfasts. The cafe again was so clean and bright, a lovely smile and very helpful assistant behind the counter. Breakfast was good value and properly cooked (not just re-heated). Now despite this being a heritage railway the museum was very modern. A good surface for walking and again, very clean, no oil and no soot. Good explainers and well presented exhibits.
Now, the train which I had travelled for 7 hours from Hastings to see. Immaculate! Looking wonderful! I'd paid the extra for 1st class and the salon was perfect. So much care on the finish and a very comfy seat with a great view. And the guard was such a lovely chap. No hurry, no hassle, smiling and very personable.
The biggest takeaway from my visit for me is that the staff care, they really do. And it shows!

Overall, Disappointing

Overall, a Disappointing Experience.

I asked a question to The Driver of Llywelyn at Aberystwyth Station, which way is the train running, his abrupt curt reply was "the way the engines pointing".

I also found the outbound journey from Aberystwyth to Devils Bridge to be very juddery. Scenic views into the Rheidol valley are presently poor in either direction, due to the height of the trees. Yes I accept in nature things grow, but some tree felling and height reduction is needed.

Lovely line, mostly great staff, watch your step with the driver of Wren....

Had a lovely day on the railway, the staff at Aber are great, the facilities and museam are lovely. Unfortunately the day was spoilt when we got to Devils Bridge, the driver of Wren decided to shout at my son for stepping behind the engine shed. No need for it, it embarased and spolit his day - the area should be marked as "do not enter" with a sign if he shouldn't be there. When I tried to discuss, the driver ran away and hid...

Sunset ride to Devils Bridge

A wonderful sunset journey to Devils Bridge. Well worth every penny to support this amazing attraction. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, making this experience so memorable. The station and toilets were spotlessly clean and the internal windows in the carriages were all cleaned between journeys at Aberystwyth. Good old-fashioned high standards!

Purchase of the Peter Rampton tribute…

Purchase of the Peter Rampton tribute edition journal.
At £2 including P&P, I suggest you could have charged double and put the funds into the Trust.
But the publication is excellent and a useful clarification of so much second hand incorrect information out there.
