Why I had to quit Zoomo for my own safety (An honest review of the horrific working conditions)

The Good: Coworkers: Some people were always willing to help and teach me.

Service options: E-Bikes available at different price ranges with optional extras to take care of the E-Bikes or mopeds.

The Bad (The actual reality of working here) Massive safety hazards: Only one toilet for 15-20 staff and customers. Fire trap: Parts and recycling constantly block fire exits, extinguishers, and first aid stations.

Electrical scares: I witnessed high-voltage extension cords sparking and smoking right next to cardboard and lithium batteries.

Inadequate Tools and Equipment: You have to manually lift 27kg and 32kg e-bikes onto stands or work on the floor. No electric lifts/stands. This has resulted in injuries and long-term damage to backs, arms, and joints amongst colleagues.

Cheap tools: The company-provided tools constantly snap and break during heavy-duty servicing.

The Ugly (Management, Colleagues & Ethics):

Shady sales: Management pressured employees to sell bikes with cracked frames to unsuspecting customers without telling them.

Unprofessional and dangerous Team members: Aggressive, constant micromanaging pattern of Intimidation behaviour to silence colleagues who challenge their actions wrong practises. Safety &

Operational Risk: The ongoing conduct creates a hostile work environment, compromises team safety, and demonstrates a disregard for company property.

Toxic leadership: When I raised safety concerns to senior managers, they literally told me to "roll with the punches" making a working environment toxic because it’s easier and encouraged to do the wrong thing than do the right thing.

Final Verdict: Avoid Entirely Zoomo operates a critically unsafe workplace and engages in highly unethical retail practices.

Physical Danger: High risk of catastrophic battery fires, blocked exits, and severe orthopedic injuries.

Psychological Danger: Toxic, hostile culture driven by management intimidation and whistleblower suppression.

Consumer Risk: Fraudulent sales tactics that pass off structurally failed, dangerous vehicles to the public.

Customer service

I had no problems with bike personally, however just be aware that the customer service is terrible. I have twice made a reservation for a bike which cost me to waste an hour journey to get there and find out they had sold all their bikes available even after I phoned to confirm a bike was available.

My tenants rented an e-bike from Zoomo with faulty battery

My tenants rented an e-bike from Zoomo. They regularly visited Zoomo for the required monthly bike and battery checks. In February, during one of these checkups, they reported that the battery had developed a fault. After inspection, a Zoomo engineer told them the battery was safe to use and stated that no replacement battery was available at that time.
Just a few days later, while the battery was being stored inside the apartment, the battery exploded and caused a massive fire. Two apartments were completely destroyed, and several others were severely damaged. Multiple tenants lost their homes, and my tenants lost everything they owned.
Here is a video showing the fire:

I contacted Zoomo to ask them to at least provide emergency financial support to the affected customer, given that the battery had been inspected and declared safe by their own engineer. Zoomo refused to offer any help and denied responsibility for their rental product.
This is totally unacceptable behavior from a company operating worldwide. A rental company dealing with lithium batteries has a duty of care, especially after a known fault was reported. I sincerely hope that my insurance company will hold Zoomo fully liable for the damage caused.
I would strongly caution anyone against using this company.

They are sophisticated scam

They are sophisticated scam. Firstly the range they advertised was around 50miles, I was using on the lowest power mode which is 1 and it ran out in around 18 miles I reported it then I was asked to bring bike to the garage, then price goes 29£ to 39£ and eventually 49£ after each week. And there is no USB port on bicycle as advertised. They will never log a complaint despite asking for number of times. And recovery agent sent message to collect bike on 28 Jan 26 but didnt turn up until 18 Feb 26, and they were still trying to charge me for the period even the bike won't work because locked. Meanwhile bike on the app is showing as stolen (and I am waiting for the collection person). I will consider going to court about it. Customer service is also aware of this. I have record of conversation with the customer service and collection person. Poor company ethics and customer service.

They are a scammer

They are a scam. Renting out a scooter and it stopped working after 2 days. Asked to change scooters but then said there were no availability. After returning the scooter they still charged me for another week.

So far so good.

So far so good.
The bikes are in someways better than Vinx, brand cause they are lighter, and can be pedalled on flat battery, if you take it out, But most importantly they are 100%v legal, however they are not as comfortable to ride as a Vinx style bike ,the seats will kill ya bum. Thats where Vinx or that type of bike are better , also they are somewhat faster than Zoomo and have longer range. Vinx style is most popular for Uber delivery for those reasons.
The guy at the Zoomo shop was OK , he explain how to work the bike and when I couldnt work it he explained it again and even gave me a helmut

Terrible Customer Service – Be Very Careful

Zoomo customer service is absolutely pathetic. I was told on the chat that someone would connect with me within 2 hours, but it has now been over 24 hours and nothing has been done.

My moped broke down in the middle of the road, and despite this being a serious safety issue, support has not contacted me at all. No follow-up, no solution, no accountability.

This is by far the worst customer service experience I have ever had. It is extremely unprofessional and frustrating to be left stranded with no support.

I am only waiting for my 8-week contract to expire so I can return the moped and be done with this company. I strongly recommend being very careful before renting from Zoomo.

DO NOT RENT BIKE WITH THEM - NAO ALUGUE BICILETA COM ELES!

NAO ALUGUE BICILETA COM ELES!
Μην νοικιάσετε ποδήλατο από αυτούς!
!لا تستأجر دراجة منهم
¡No alquiles una bicicleta con ellos!

Terrible. I asked them to book a return and they didn't have a slot available and asked me to keep paying the e-bike renting till the day of their availability. It was not my fault that they didn't have any sooner availability on they system. Then they just remotely locked the bike making it impossible to return it. I contacted the support about this situation so many times and they were very unhelpful. I've suggested so many ideas in order to resolve this problem peacefully but all they care about is money and more money. I am moving out from my current address and I was left with no option but leaving the bike outside. I will also have to take this headache to a small claim court because Zoomo process of work is completely against the Consumer Rights Act. Once they know that most people who rent their bike are immigrants, they automatically think we don't know our rights as consumers and therefore we will accept whatever they say to us.

DO NOT RENT BIKES WITH THEM.

No Support, Can’t Work, Losing Money

I rented a bike from Zoomo for Uber Eats delivery, but I’ve been unable to work for days due to an insurance issue that Zoomo should be handling.

Support is extremely poor:
In-app chat doesn’t respond
No working phone number
Support emails either don’t exist or have full inboxes

I’m still paying for the rental while losing income, with no help from Zoomo. Very frustrating experience and unacceptable lack of communication.

Insist on charging me for an entire…

Insist on charging me for an entire week when I could not “book” a return date before my subscription ended. Dropped off bike morning of the next day. Now I get letters demanding I return a bike I’ve already returned… demanding I pay a subscription fee. Bike was not as described, parts fell off after one day… luckily I found them on the ground and returned them with the bike. The letters insinuate that I must pay the full week subscription fee or be accused of stealing their bike. Extortion is illegal and I don’t care how gangster these thugs think they are, I’ll have their asses handed to them legally before they ever touch me.

Looks Professional Online, Total Chaos in Real Life

Booked an appointment, turned up on time, and was left waiting for over an hour like I had absolutely nothing else to do. After all that? They casually told me there was no bike available. No apology, no warning, nothing.

Came back the next day, signed up for their £65 package after being promised I could downgrade or upgrade anytime through the app. Spoiler: that was a lie.

The bike itself? A joke.

A few days in, the battery started switching off randomly.
When that happens, the bike becomes a brick, impossible to pedal, impossible to push, definitely impossible to commute with. This isn’t a premium e-bike; it’s an overpriced gym punishment on wheels.

Let’s be honest about their “ideal customer.”

They target desperate international students trying to pick up UberEats shifts, people who don’t have the luxury of complaining, and who can be told “come back tomorrow” without pushing back.

If you actually need a reliable commuter bike? Forget it. If you don’t want to visit their shop every other day? Forget it.

Customer care? Doesn’t exist.

Want to downgrade your plan?
The app shows everything, except any actual ability to do anything.
They tell you to physically visit the store just to change your subscription. What year are we in?

Then the real circus begins.

Miss a payment because their bike isn’t working?
They’ll lock the bike remotely, then you get calls from random “recovery team” who have zero knowledge of UK consumer law.

One even tried threatening me with “government recovery fees.”
Yes, really.
They sound like they Googled “debt threats” and picked the first line from a scam website.

Overall

Zoomo isn’t designed for commuters, professionals, or anyone who expects a reliable service.
They’re built for desperate riders who won’t complain and will accept constant shop visits, sudden failures, and clueless customer service.

If you value your time, sanity, or money, look elsewhere.

Booked appointment to collect bike on 12 Nov 2025. Reached there and they said no bike available. No prior notice nothing. Rebooked for 18 Nov 2025. Wanted to change just the time of collection but no support and contact to get in touch. They're just thugs, careless buggers in this business.

Worst customer support and service

If I could give a 0 I would. Got my e-scooter and was told my uber account should be activated since they’ve uploaded the documents from their end. 6 days later they’ve failed to provide me with the certificate and any assistance. The worst customer support. The scooter even died on my way to their store which they said would cost me £75 for roadside assistance. It clearly states on their website that the roadside assistance is included in all of their plans. How hard is it to provide a motor insurance certificate? I am so tired of their service. This has costed me my entire rent and now I have to pay for scooter’s rent tomorrow when it’s been sitting in my driveway. Absolute nightmare

Avoid at all costs

Basically a scam. Seat that hurts you in 20 minutes, “assistance” weak, and non existent at the hint of the first inclination of the road. Customer service non existent, fake, and doesn’t want real solutions other than answering you with chat gpt. This is not suitable for delivery, is slow; hurting, weak and malfunctioning.
