Slugs!

In December of 2025 I purchased an extra bag of Royal Canin Yorkshire Terrier food to have on hand to prepare for Winter. I opened and started using that bag the end of March. I heard a rustling coming from my pup's bowl and saw the food moving. A disgusting large slug the same color as the food, crawled out of the bowl! No, I didn't take a picture of it because it was too vile! I didn't think it could come from the food until it happened two more times as they slithered away on the floor!
The response I got from Royal Canin was less than desirable. First, it was in question as to why I waited so long to open the bag, even though they give you a one-year guarantee on the food. Second, I was given a $20 coupon that's absolutely useless because its only good on very large bags or cases of food, which Im guessing according to their terms must be eaten immediately after opening. This bag with the slugs was a 2.5 lb bag. Why would I ever consider buying a larger bag, let alone ANY of their food again after such a vile experience!
They asked for pictures of the UPC and the expiration date, but there hasn't been any further correspondence from them. Again, DISAPPOINTED in their lack of concern and I will never trust the brand again!

My dog sadly got diagnosed with…

My dog sadly got diagnosed with diabetes in December 2025, which was a life changing event for him. We are on a rollercoaster with his insulin dosage as he is unstable still. Now Royal Canin have stopped producing the diabetic dry food & replaced it with Glycobalance. Poor Bentley is on day 1 of the new food and has an upset stomach & is being sick. Our poor dogs are going through 2 injections a day & now illness due to a change in food. Its so awful to go through this event as it is. Why change the mixture & make dogs have to go through this? It doesnt make sense.

Improved digestion and regulated energy levels

I just switched my 1 year old lab to RC after falling in the trap of buying the "HUMAN GRADE, GRAIN FREE " BOUTIQUE brands and watching him have inconsistent bowel movements and lethargy from them. He's been on Royal Canin for 2 weeks now and the improvement was noticeable right from the start. He eats it eagerly which I didn't experience with the other brands I tried and his energy level is more regulated and consistent without the sudden highs and lows he had before. I highly recommend anyone else on the fence about RC to give it a fair try for the wellbeing of your dog

Awful

Awful! I’ve been a customer for 20 years of RC for all my pets, as has my family. My 14 year old diabetic dog is now without his food because they’re changing it to a different formula. And the only advice is change over to the new one gradually (can’t, as I have none of his old food left) or ‘speak to your vet for extra monitoring’. Surely a company who should care about their customer and their pets would have done this gradually with notice so that people could introduce the new food gradually, especially when it’s for diabetic pets! There should’ve been a collaboration with online retailers like pets at home, animed, pet drugs online etc where a warning that this food will be discontinued so prepare for the new different version! I will never use RC again. Absolutely terrible. Fuming that I just got referred to my vet for extra monitoring!

Royal Canin - royal treatment

They have a kitten club that my cat's breeder had codes for. This gets me a free bag of food, and 40% off the next 2 purchases from Petbarn. BUT I entered my address wrong and the food went to Queensland. When I tried to get Australia Post to redirect it (!!!) they wouldn't. So I rang Royal Canin and they were happy to send me another bag, to the right address.

Package Arrived Fine

The package arrived fine and was actually delivered to my house this time (the last delivery, the delivery person opted to drop it off at an inconvenient drop location versus bringing it to my house). And the bag of cat kibble arrived in perfect condition.

My food-obsessed labrador ate the Royal…

My food-obsessed labrador ate the Royal Canin anallergenic kibble with gusto first time, but a few minutes later she barfed it up. After that she wouldn't eat it. Just leaves it in the bowl! This is a dog that will eat rotten animal remains given half a chance. I'm mixing it in with a cheaper supermarket brand to try to get rid of it.

I'm deeply disappointed and frustrated…

I'm deeply disappointed and frustrated with my recent experience with your customer service. My two dogs and I have been loyal customers for five years, and I've purchased at least 140 bags of food in total. I was simply requesting a refund or replacement for one bag that was spoiled.
Your phone and email customer support indicated a replacement was not possible, but a refund was approved. They asked me to email documentation photos etc., which I immediately did. A month after that, I hadn't heard back from you so I emailed back, And was told that somehow related to the way your email distribution and case management works, the appropriate team (refunds) had not received the information and to resubmit all documentation again.
I did that and then received a response stating that due to policy small print, and since I reported the issue outside of 30 days from the purchase date, I was ineligible for the refund, and they could not help me.
I respectfully requested an exception to the policy as I had opened the bag weeks after purchasing it, and since your phone and email representative apparently was unaware of your own policies and misinformed me, and incorrectly set the expectations that the refund was approved, I had to fill out a form and send documentation over TWICE. Again, the response was negative and lacking on your end. Very disappointed and frustrated with this whole ordeal. I thought Royal Canin would value loyal customers a little more.
In case it helps and there is something you can do to help me with this situation, here's the case number 09472952.

Royal Canin Exigent Protein

I have a cat that only eats Royal Canin Exigent Protein and now I am trying to reorder it and come to find out Royal Canin stopped producing all their products from their Exigent line (Protein, Savour, Aroma) that focus on fussy cats, and combined them together to one new product called Fussy... If you know these products are for FUSSY cats, why would you stop producing them?! My cat will NOT eat ANYTHING else and has previously been hospitalised for days for refusing to eat! Almost costing her life and thousands and thousands of pounds. She only survived because of a feeding tube! Even now she struggles to accept the SAME food from a brand new bag, so she will definitely not eat a whole new product, with a new shape, new smell and new taste. I honestly don't know what I am going to do. Even worse, on their product images for their new Fussy food they show how we can get our cats to accept their new food by mixing the old food with new food and increasing it throughout the days, but if it was that easy to get our cats to eat new food why would you even need a fussy line in the first place? Also how am I going to slowly increase the % of new food on my cat's bowl if I can't even buy the old food to slowly get her to eat the new one?! This makes no sense in so many levels. This HORRIBLE decision will cost many cats' lives. The person that thought it was a good idea needs to be fired because they clearly don't understand anything about pets.

Thanks royal canin for stop making…

Thanks royal canin for stop making royal canin exigent protein cat and changing to fussy no doubt because its somehow cheaper to produce. My 2 Persians eat it. And one of my Persians was rapidly losing weight and this is the only food she will eat and she's put weight on .what am I going to do now? She will probably go down hill and eventually have to get euthanized because she won't eat anything but this. You won't care because she's only one cat .I wouldn't buy anything else of again.this food has a high price tag for a food that has loads of fillers like rice and cereals very little meat. I don't know how they get away with it. So guys before you buy there dry food just because the vet tells you to please take a good look at it. You can get much better quality for less money out there and much better for your cat.
