I purchased a 3 month plan with…

I purchased a 3 month plan with Scottish slimmers. I received no welcome email and have contacted them many times to which I have had less than helpful answers back. At least 10 times back and forth and I still cannot get anywhere. I then wrote to them to say I would be telling friends that I felt it was a scam company as I couldnt get anywhere with knowing what the plan entailed. They continuously told me it was my fault and my services that were to blame even though I sent screenshots of their website and links telling me I didn’t have an active account.
To now they have written to me saying that as I sent abuse- which I didn’t- I said I felt it was a scam due to not being able to get anywhere- they have now blocked me! £39.99 down the drain!

Do not be fooled into thinking this is Scottish Slimmers of old.

Do not be fooled into thinking this is in any way like the Scottish Slimmers of old. It is a complete waste of time and in my opinion a complete scam by Andy who has taken over the name.
I tried to cancel which proved very difficult and continued to have money taken from my account despite e mailing them to tell them to cancel subscription and stop taking money from my account.
I joined slimming world which is excellent and well worth the money.

I wish I’d read these reviews first!

I wish I’d read these reviews first!
I signed up on Saturday for 12 weeks to see how I got on. I’d have preferred a 7 day trial to be honest , I thought I’d registered but ended up going round in circles so ended up going for 12 weeks.
Then the only email I received was an invoice, they claim to have sent me an introductory email which I can’t find anywhere, they tell me they can see I’ve not opened it !!
So I contacted via email as recommended on the phone . I thought I was misunderstanding something as all I can see online is somewhere to record what I’ve eaten . I tried to get the app but it wants to charge me another £9.99 for that - I appreciate that’s out of Scottish slimmers control, but I don’t really want to go round in more circles with that .
So I’m trying to work out what I’m getting for my subscription, it would appear to be nothing . Despite endless emails from Andy , who to be honest I’m beginning to suspect is a bot as all he does is reel off company policy and bits off the website , all I’ve discovered is that I’m supposed to shell out even more money via Amazon to get my eating plan book . Which I suppose I should’ve worked out as it’s not mentioned on my plan, but it’s not very clear, and certainly doesn’t mention I’ll pay even more for it . To be honest I could’ve skipped the plan and bought the book off Amazon if I’d known . I’d rather like my money back to be honest but I’m sure somewhere in all the spiel it’ll say I can’t . I am quite concerned that I don’t seem to even be getting emails from them, Andy had to send me a link to continue, which doesn’t fill me with confidence. Maybe there aren’t any more anyway !
I’d almost feel sorry for him, reading these reviews he probably has to deal with complaints all day long. What a wast of money, I’m desperate to lose weight, and feel that in a slightly vulnerable state I’ve signed up to - nothing.

I know you’d think I would have learned, it was great when there was classes to attend , I don’t think the on-line works as well , just my opinion

I joined today , wish I hadn’t it’s a lot of time and effort to add all the items to get check value , when you can just look at the packaging of food ie 25 calories = 1 check , I only paid for 1 month , cancelled through my Apple app .

Hi Jacqueline, thanks for leaving us a review. For the reasons mentioned above, we offer a trial account so you can try before you buy. Sadly, a weight loss journey does require some effort, for example, logging your foods on a daily basis. We can see you have been a member twice before so unsure why our service has surprised you. Hope this helps and good luck on your journey.

Took money for a year's service when I signed up for 3 months and the phone isn't answered. I need the money back

Further update - email responses do not provide help. Best way to deal with is to either not join or to claim through bank and send evidence of the reply emails as SS unwilling to help as "your account is managed by you".. even though the online account is faulty.

Hi Rebecca, hope you're well. As the online platform is self service we are unable to process payments unless you make a change to your account. I can see here you have upgraded your account to a years subscription which is out of our control, hence the term self service. We are always happy to help and appreciate you informing us of a fault, however having checked our system there has been no faults found. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Money making scam

Do not touch. They have taken an unauthorised payment from me when I tried to cancel my subscription and when i have contacted them, they have ignored me until I got trading standards involved, where I was accused of harassing his staff because i dared to ask for my money back. Andy Bests attitude stinks. With tough luck attitude and only interested in money. Use another diet provider. Do not get sucked into this money making scam!!!

Hi Lynsey, great to hear from you. You have harassed our staff on multiple occasions having been given all of the information required; we tried to call to discuss this matter on the number provided. You paid for a premium subscription which is a self-service programme; you are the account holder therefore the dashboard is yours to control. Every email including the eating plans has been received and we can see you have opened this, as per your terms and conditions of service. Have a great weekend and good luck on your weight loss journey.

A total waste of money. Do not join.

I joined Scottish slimmers online 4 days ago and it is a waste of £17.99, I went for the checks, but it is useless, does not accurately count checks, example cheese ,bread, no checks why when they have calories.
if you have money to throw away its fine otherwise stay away.

Scottish Slimmers Scammers

I took out a subscription with Scottish Slimmers today costing £17.99 per Quarter, the money was immediately taken from my bank account. This would not be a problem but after downloading the Scottish Slimmers App I found that there was no meal plan on the App or website, and so obviously no instructions either. I emailed an address given on their help section only to be told that you have to purchase the meal plan pack seperately from Amazon at a cost of £29.99 on top of the subscription cost. I eventually found a customer service contact number in Glasgow 01412551567, only to be told that they cannot discuss subscriptions, eating plans or anything at all. The advisor said all he could say was all information was available on the website.
It was also impossible to receive a refund/cancellation even though I had literally just joined that day.
I feel as if I have been scammed by a company that was previously very professional.
I have managed to cancel my subscription but they WILL NOT refund my £17.99.
Without the eating plan there is no way of following the diet so I'm unsure of what I have purchased except a useless App. Please do not be conned by Scottish Slimmers, they must be making a fortune scamming people in this way.

DO NOT touch this app

Pretty much the same as the previous comment. I used the app about 3 years ago and it was very good. I signed up this month and discovered it had completely changed. It doesn’t calculate the checks properly, the barcode scanner doesn’t work - I was on classic checks.
If I chose boiled egg for example twice in a day, it calculates checks different each time. Same for bread- I quickly worked out that nothing is correct especially if you customise how much you had or put in your own new food entry. I wasted many hours this week trying to figure it out.
I wrote to support this weekend and got two very rude replies from the person whose name is all over the free emails (you know who I mean!!)
He clearly doesn’t know how to run a business and support people. I’ve cancelled my subscription- this guy is only interested in your money people. If people sign up once then he’s getting that. Please don’t sign up!!!!It’s easier to work it all out for yourself. A hint: cut oil when frying food, use a 1cal spray instead, cut butter/margarine and cheese down, reduce pasta and bread portions and lower your meat intake to one chicken breast or thigh for example and increase on fruit and vedge everywhere. Hope that helps

Used to be good. Until Nov 2019.

I was a member of SS for around 3 years and lost a lot of weight, found the website supportive and the app was so easy to use...

Then the company folded only to return 6 months later. Great. Decided to join up again to lose 7lbs before Christmas. I got precisely 11 days of functioning app until an update/overhaul/upgrade or as I and many many other people would call a complete **** up. App was never useable after that. Admin failed to communicate and seemed to hide behind a Facebook wall of silence (they used to have their own website which was great as not everyone is on Facebook) Enquiries were dealt with passive aggressively, patronising stock responses from the app builders (they’re getting paid to build this app?!?)

Many many unhappy customers had to seek refunds via various app stores, the company has no sense of responsibility nor it seems, pride in providing a good product.

A year on and looking through reviews of the app and it appears to be no better.

I joined Weight Watchers for a few
months; totally excellent.
