36+ hours of total downtime

36+ hours of total downtime, no ETA, no accountability

Our e-commerce business has been completely offline for over 48 hours due to a DDoS attack on Shinjiru's network. This happened during our single biggest sales weekend of the year, costing us thousands of dollars in lost revenue.

What has made it worse than the outage itself:

1. No ETA. Every status update describes "ongoing mitigation" and attack vectors "adapting," but after a day and a half there is still no timeline for restoration.

2. Total lockout. We cannot access our hosting panel or even the billing portal, meaning we cannot retrieve our own files or databases to migrate elsewhere. Our data is effectively held hostage by their outage.

3. No compensation. Their SLA explicitly excludes downtime caused by DDoS attacks, so a customer can lose their entire business's availability for days with zero recourse.

Shinjiru markets itself on strong uptime and protection. Our experience is the opposite: a single attack on their network took every service we pay for offline: website, panel, billingm for days, with vague updates and no recovery plan communicated.

If your business depends on being online, factor in that when this host has a problem, you will have no access to your own data and no idea when it ends. We are migrating away as soon as we can retrieve our files.

Hello Asad,

We are responding to clarify the facts surrounding your hosting experience and refund request, as our technical and management teams have already explained to you in detail via our support channels.

1) Regarding your claims of poor performance:

Our system logs definitively prove that your hosting environment is fully operational and your website's front-end is performing optimally. The resource spikes and slowdowns you experienced were entirely self-inflicted, caused by your continuous background use of the "All-in-One WP Migration" plugin.

While you claim your website is only 400 MB, simultaneously scanning, compressing, and rewriting these files forces a massive volume of data processing all at once, hitting a hard I/O (Input/Output) limit. We strictly enforce I/O limits to prevent individual accounts from monopolizing resources and destabilizing the server environment for others. Allocated RAM and SSD space are completely unrelated to physical data transfer limits. The server throttled your background operations exactly as it was designed to do to protect the network.

2) Addressing your claims of us being scammers:

Today, you submitted a cancellation request set to take effect at the end of your billing cycle—meaning you intend to keep using the active service for the rest of the month—while simultaneously demanding an immediate refund by threatening to coordinate 20 negative reviews against us unless you got your money back.

We have already offered you a clear, fair path forward in your support ticket: We will gladly initiate the refund process the moment you authorize an immediate cancellation, which will permanently terminate the service today. You cannot demand your money back while continuing to use the server.

Hello M,

Thank you for your feedback. We would like to address your concerns directly and clarify the facts regarding your account.

Shinjiru has provided offshore hosting services for over 25 years, and we take our commitment to our clients very seriously. We would like to clarify the following points regarding your account:

We can confirm that your full refund request of $38.00 has been processed in its entirety. Your hosting service and domain registration were handled as separate order items in our billing system, which resulted in two individual refund transactions that have now been fully completed.

We sincerely apologize for any confusion caused by a clerical error in our previous communication regarding the payment channel (PayPal). We have verified your account records and can confirm that you paid via credit card; consequently, all funds were returned directly to that original credit card. The mention of PayPal in our previous automated message was an error, but it did not impact the destination of your funds.

Regarding the delay in your domain transfer, please be informed that our team attempted to reach you to request valid owner details required to proceed with the transfer, as the information initially provided was incomplete (listed as "N/A"). As we could not move forward without this mandatory information, the transfer could not be initiated until the necessary details were supplied by you.

You can reply to the ticket to request official merchant gateway receipts and transaction logs to your support ticket (Ticket#89021438) for your records. We value your business and hope this clarifies that your funds have been handled securely and correctly.

The two factor authentication is very…

The two factor authentication is very flawed. Life is much easier than this experience. Every month I go through tremendous headaches attempting to login and pay my invoices.

After one failed attempted IP is banned. The codes are not available if you use multiple devices. I cannot for example login on my laptop ... I must navigate on a iphone and the two factor authentication. It’s very sensitive and unerving.

UPDATE:

I have had 3 accounts with this company. The first one was for over one year. I use several offshore companies this one is primarily for backup. I changed to another company which I thought was better however it wasn’t, I retuned to this company after 6 months. My second account I wanted to upgrade but the equipment/hardware was limited thus we agreed to move to another server which allowed upgrades. During these changes the 2 Authentication was also problematic for me, I have support tickets to verify this— I realize the company policy and understand their rationale HOWEVER there must be a workable way to amplify it.

In today’s situation with so much data and passkeys , changing them constantly is a headache for certain customers, I am one of those customers.

The last three months , I have had difficulty, the reasoning I cannot share in this or any public forum, however my concern now is not losing my data files with current server inaccessible to me to even pay invoices.

I’m now waiting to resolve my issues whereas I don’t have to constantly log in with ever changing codes that must be generated because as stated before the systems blocks me after each attempt after I login with correct password and after the screen requires a generated code. On a phone device it works sometimes but rarely. It doesn’t work at all on my laptop which is where it should and is more convenient — laptops and phone devices have different appearances and performances.

So, this is second day and I, a person with limitations am completely blocked from my account and waiting and hoping for preservation of my data.

Hello BCNSFW,

We’re sorry to hear about the difficulties you’ve been experiencing—this definitely isn’t the experience we want for you.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a mandatory security measure applied to all accounts to protect sensitive information and prevent unauthorized access. While it may feel strict at times, it plays a critical role in keeping your account and billing details secure.

Nonetheless, we understand how frustrating login issues can be, especially when accessing your account across multiple devices. Our billing team has already reached out via email with a solution to help you regain access quickly. Could you please check your inbox (and spam/junk folder just in case) and respond to their message? Once we receive your reply, we’ll take immediate steps to assist you.

We’re here to make this as smooth as possible and appreciate your cooperation in completing the quick verification so we can get you back into your account without further delay.

Looking forward to resolving this for you soon.

Actively ignoring CSAM and shielding criminals (Ticket DDP-521-46121)

This registrar is actively providing services to a domain that hosts Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), severe doxxing of a minor, and credible death threats.

Despite being provided with verified proof from Cloudflare Trust & Safety and an official NCMEC CyberTipline Report Number (235002237), Shinjiru's abuse team explicitly refuses to suspend the domain. They are hiding behind automated boilerplate emails while allowing their infrastructure to be used for the distribution of child exploitation material.

A formal complaint has been filed with ICANN for severe Contractual Compliance violations, and international law enforcement is involved. Do not use this company if you care about basic legal and ethical standards. They harbor dangerous and illegal content.

UPDATE (April 9):
Shinjiru's response below is a classic PR spin. They explicitly refused to act on my initial abuse report despite me providing the official Cloudflare Trust & Safety verification. The domain was ONLY suspended after I filed formal complaints with Verisign (the .net registry) and ICANN, threatening their accreditation. They do not act out of goodwill; they only act when their business is at risk. The dangerous site is now offline, but I stand by my warning.

Hello aalisha,

We take allegations of this nature with the utmost seriousness. However, the statements made in your review are inaccurate and misrepresent the actions taken in this case.

At the time of your report, the information provided did not include sufficient verifiable evidence to justify immediate enforcement action under our compliance procedures. While you indicated that reports had been submitted to Cloudflare and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), we did not receive any formal notification, verification, or direct request from these authorities instructing us to suspend the domain.

As an ICANN-accredited registrar, we do not host the website’s content and do not have direct access to materials on any domain. Any action taken must follow established legal and regulatory processes, and requires validated evidence or official confirmation from the appropriate authorities.

We categorically reject the claim that we support or facilitate illegal or harmful content. Our organization strictly adheres to all applicable laws, compliance standards, and abuse handling procedures.

Once sufficient and actionable information became available, appropriate steps were taken in accordance with our policies. The domain has since been taken offline to assist with ongoing investigations.

We remain committed to cooperating with relevant authorities and handling all abuse reports responsibly and in good faith.

Do better on Teams

I've never had an Issue with Shinjuru and always found them to be polite and helpful. I would have gone to 5 stars but lately they've dropped off a little on their responses on Microsoft Teams. They used to answer very promptly, usually not long after their working day started (obviously there's a big time difference for UK customers), but recently their responses just don't come back. If it carries on I'll probably amend this and drop a couple of stars as the Teams communication was one of the good aspects of their customer service.

Hello Daveheee,

Thank you for your continued support and for sharing your feedback—we truly appreciate it.

We would like to clarify that we have transitioned away from Skype as a support channel following Microsoft’s decision to officially retire Skype services (effective May 2025). As part of this transition, we have moved our live support to our dedicated LiveChat platform on our website to ensure a more consistent and efficient support experience.

To avoid any confusion, we would also like to highlight that we have not migrated to Microsoft Teams for live chat support, and it is not a channel we currently use for customer communication.

For prompt assistance, we kindly encourage you to reach out to us via LiveChat here:

We remain committed to providing timely and reliable support, and your feedback helps us continue improving our services.

Thank you again for being with us.

Terminated our service because other domains on the same VPS was flagged by SpamHaus.

As they host allot of illegal sites this is a huge problem, because it's only a matter of time until you get implicated even tho you have done nothing wrong.

Dear James Kelly,

We completely understand your frustration regarding the suspension of your service. However, we need to clarify the facts surrounding this situation.

Your hosting plan was flagged and suspended because it was listed on Spamhaus. Such an alert is a severe violation of our Acceptable Use Policy. Spamhaus is an organization that monitors and flags various kinds of abuse activities, and as a responsible hosting provider, we are obligated to act on their alerts to maintain the integrity of our network.

It is important to understand that Spamhaus is not solely focused on email or spam. In this specific case, Spamhaus listed the domain names attached to your dedicated IP address (not a shared IP) for "abusive activity galore," which is inclusive of pharma, spam, phish, and fraud domains.

Due to the severity of these violations, which resulted in the blacklisting of our entire IP range, we had to implement a permanent suspension of the affected service to prevent further abusive or harmful activities within our network. This action is in strict accordance with our Acceptable Use Policy.

While we value all customer feedback, it is unfair to leave a negative review for a situation that originated from your own service. The responsibility for the abusive activity on that dedicated IP falls entirely on you, and we are simply enforcing the mandatory network policies required of us.
