A RIPP-OFF GERMAN COMPANY, overpriced ecosystem, low value for money, low quality code and features, even their shopware website doesn't work properly! Waste of time !
Shopware 5 was great but Shopware 6 never worked for us. Our CVR went down dramatically and Our Agency Didn’t manage the Problems and showed us that our problems came from Shopware directly.
Shopware tried to help but Our CVR didn’t improve.
Now we are at Shopify and we back to a CVR as we used to have them in SW5
Basic features that come for free and work reliably in WordPress are either completely missing in Shopware or only available through paid plugins. The platform is extremely buggy—changes randomly disappear without explanation. The user interface is clunky and unintuitive, making even the simplest tasks unnecessarily complicated. Practically everything requires yet another paid plugin.
I recently had a very disappointing experience with Shopware. Just to add a payment method, they require a €50 verification fee, just to check if the account is valid! This is absolutely unreasonable—most modern platforms validate accounts for free or with a simple automated process.
It really gives off the vibe of a dark, old-school company that lacks flexibility and customer-friendly policies. Instead of making things easier for merchants, they introduce unnecessary barriers and hidden costs. In today’s fast-moving e-commerce world, such outdated practices are frustrating and discouraging.
If you’re looking for a modern, user-friendly e-commerce solution, I’d suggest considering alternatives that are more transparent and business-friendly.
I've been working in web development since 2015 and have seen some different technologies, but if there's one thing i could give the title "Worst Software in existence" to, it would definitely go to Shopware. If you want to keep your sanity, use a system that actually works like Shopify.
Why do i say this you ask? Well let me give you an example, you want to add a custom entry to your sitemap? No problem! Just search their wonderful documentation! At some point you will will then discrover that there is no documentation or if there is, it's either 10 years outdated or incomplete. So you reverse engineer the abomination of what they call the shopware core and learn that you just had to create a SitemapAdapterHandleSubscriberControllerDecoratorTraitComponentSlotEntityFactory.php and copy their core code into it to override everything because they didn't expose the underlying functions. Why even use the decorator pattern then shopware??
And then when you're finished with that and you may want to extend the administration backend so you go ahead and use their Vue components but discover that they built them inside the Twig PHP templating engine, so now your IDE doesn't give you vue AND twig support, good job!
And when you're finished with that and you may want to use their API to request something but you may see that they don't have any consistency between API-calls and you just have to adjust to the randomness and see what data you can throw in there without it crashing, how fun!
And when you've finally made all the changes you will realize that you have just written (or paid for) 50000+ Lines of code for features that work out of the box in every e-commerce system that takes itself serious.
So now after 5 years of using Shopware on and off i would recommend their dev team to maybe just add a tiny bit more boilerplate. As right now, it's sadly just not enough to deter marketing people from successfully selling this software to their unsuspecting victims.
What a horribly shameful company. Never experienced such poor customer service before. Keep sending invoices for services that I haven't used in months. And when you email them to cancel everything, you get bad answers that you can't do anything with! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SHOPWARE!
Shopware 6 is so awful. We loved Shopware 5 and were forced to upgrade, and it's been a terrible experience. Shopware 6 is unusable. The simple task of adding new products has become a nightmare. And if you want anything that works, it's now an add-on that costs extra money. If you're looking to open on an online shope, steer clear of Shopware.
I used Shopware for 5 years and almost felt an ambassador for Shopware. But since they introduced Shopware 6 I turned 180 degrees.
They are pushing and pressing to subscribe for a up to 600%(!) more expensive plan and if you don't agree, they force you by ending your migration assistent (a quite poor tool to migrate from Shopware 5 to 6).
Meanwhile, Shopware 6 lacks a lot of Shopware 5 functions. Also (agreed by Shopware support), Shopware 6 has a lot of bugs, which makes upgrading very risky. Unless (maybe) you outsource and pay a lot of money to solve the issues.
One of the company core values is 'open', but even about there pricing system, they are not open at all: I'm waiting for 3 weeks for an answer about the new pricing system and even after 5 'reminder' mails, I didn't get any answer.
I should not take the risk to loose a huge amount of money and energy: their marketing department promises 'heaven on earth', but I'm afraid the e-commerce 'hell' is more close to reality.
I hope more people to join their business.
They found me on WhatsApp, I though is scam at first but after they offered me a job and try, then I get about $100 a day and receive my commission every day and I love it =)
(I have done 3 weeks and get my earnings everyday)
Scam. I would like to warn everybody not to join to their business.
They are approached me on WhatsApp, offered me a job then lost all the money has been asked from them in return for salary.
AVOID. These Germans don't know how to build shop software.
It is inconvenient and makes you pay even if you have not used the product .
Very difficult to install on a hosting service, in 2021 it's just too difficult to just run on a regular hosting service . After testing, I decided to check out a few free templates, but as it turned out, it was a trap . I got a free 30 days and then a paid subscription even though I didn't enter any payment details and was sure it wasn't necessary for the free version , eventually after two months they started billing me for payment as I had to cancel this subscription in their terribly confusing interface . Are you serious ? After my order, I received a letter that I owe 0 euros and no information about the mandatory cancellation, they send information about the mandatory cancellation in a month when you are no longer interested and you may miss a couple of important lines . Why didn't you stop any subscription after the free period if the person didn't even leave payment details . It's terribly unprofessional and smells like cheating . I do not even advise you to register on their site so that they do not force you to pay and send threatening emails as it was with me . Call your lawyer before registering on their website .
We are a national operating business based in Australia and Shopware was recommended to us as a "quality German product". We have never been more disappointed. The support is shocking, the backend is outdated, without the support of an additional (+ expensive) developer you are lost. We were told that we could use a subshop to sell an additional product range, which was a hick-up in the whole establishment of the website from day dot. German words appeared everywhere in the whole structure, although we were assured the setup is ready for english speaking countries. The cost compared to what you are getting is not up to date what the market has to offer 2020. We have changed from Shopware to Shopify within 4 days, as we had simply enough. We couldn't be happier and regret not having taken this step sooner. Suddenly there are no outrages, everything runs smoothly, friendly support = a fantastic and user-friendly ALL-IN-ONE-SETUP, so we can finally focus on selling our product rather than fixing issues with Shopware. Our cancellation is still not confirmed, although we sent two emails already (not surprised). We wouldn't be surprised if getting out of the Subscription will cause more problems - just to top the whole list off.
