Fees and no warnings

I got a loan from them through a car dealer. They are by far the worst lender I have experienced in the USA. They started charging me insurance for the loan without my consent or warning. They even kept charging for this after I paid off the loan. I couldn't even pay off the loan fast enough to avoid a payment because their portal only accepts $2K payments at a time with a weekly cap.

Their website is terrible, the only way I found any history of the loan was through customer support.

Avoid at all costs. Let me know if someone starts a class action that I can join!

Forced charges with no clear…

Forced charges with no clear authorization or explanation

I was charged fees that I did not authorize and that were not clearly disclosed or explained. I contacted customer service and spoke with multiple representatives (including Vanessa and Victoria), but even after those conversations, I still did not receive a clear explanation of what the charges were for or why they were applied.

I was then told I would need to pay an additional fee in order to dispute or reverse the charges I never agreed to in the first place. That is not how transparent or ethical billing should work.

When a customer has to speak to multiple people and still can’t get a straight answer about their own account, that’s a problem. This experience felt misleading at best and predatory at worst. I would strongly caution others to read all terms carefully and monitor their statements closely.

Nope!

No difference between SCU and any other big bank/financial institution. When I used to have over 250K in a high interest savings account with them, they would bend over backwards to resolve any issues. I would get phone calls from the district manager within an hour. Now that I've taken that money out and invested it, they can't be bothered to do even the most basic things, and when they make a mistake (Which they do surprisingly often) they are adamant in their refusal to take any responsibility. Most recently I was disputing a charge for a purchase I made while raveling in China. I filled out all of the paperwork for the dispute, they credited the amount back while they investigated. They then sent another letter asking for more information. This was exactly the information they had asked for in order to file the dispute, literally verbatim. That was sent in. Six weeks later I get a letter saying that they have closed the case because they have been unsuccessful in their attempts to contact me for more information (i.e., a single letter that was replied to). They included in this letter an incorrect date that they credited my account as well as an amount that was more than was nowhere near the credited amount. The letter said that they were going to debit my account for this new sum. The letter was dated 1/30, but post marked 2/6 and they were going to take action 2/10. I called and they initially told me that the account was in fact still open, that they had received my follow-up letter but it was after the due date (Not possible) and this whole thing was simply one typo. When I corrected the service person that there were multiple typos and errors in their letter, I immediately got attitude. She then changed the story and told me that the dispute had been closed and they may or may not decide to reopen it. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she put me on indefinite hold (I gave up after 23 minutes). I'll be going across the street to the other credit union.

Sound credit union against large sums of money

Ive been with this sound credit union for 3 years. My lawyer had $47.000 dollars sent to me in the form of a cashiers check to pay taxes on some stocks. He lend me the money. The check was deposited into my account immediately. After a few day's I sent some of money through cash App to the stock company. Before I knew it, my account was locked & they told me it was a fraudulent deal. They have been investigating this for half a month now & I had to open another account so I could pay my bills. They will not tell you anythinh when you call accept that it's being investigated still. The one who lended me the money called the bank & explained to them what the money was for, but yet the investigation marches on. I strongly encourage you to stay away from this credit union. If you are a member, I suggest you dont have anyone send you a large amount of money because you will be considered a fraudster no matter what the proof is! So now my money is tired up & the lawyers money is tied up because of these clowns. With them, you are guilty until proven innocent.

Terrible company

Terrible company. I’ve been with them for a year. I signed an agreement. If I overdraft. They will remove from one of my other accounts. And charge a five dollar fee. They never followed that agreement. And even though my other accounts had sufficient capital. They paid it themselves and charges me 30 dollars for doing it. I was charged 600 dollars in a matter of days. When my other accounts had sufficient capital to cover it. They are theives. When you try to get it resolved. They say “we will have a manager contact you” and no one does.
