I've been a SSFCU customer for probably 15 years? I've been very, very happy with their products & their customer service.

I have multiple accounts & have made countless changes to my accounts over the years. SSFCU has never messed up an account or payment.

Their online portal is incredibly easy to use.

Their fraud detection is wonderfully useful. They communicate via text and phone about strange charges; a simple YES response turns my card back on; there has been fraud and a simple NO cancels the card & opens a new card for me.

The bankers have always recognized me. Due to a somewhat recent head injury, I need a quiet environment; when I walk in, the bankers turn the music down or off and offer a private, quiet office for all my banking needs.

Control account was compromised 14 times in 5 months

I co-signed a vehicle loan for a friend who sadly passed away, and I refinanced the vehicle to take over the note. Since then, the experience has been nothing but frustrating. While the refinancing process itself was fairly standard, I’ve repeatedly had issues afterward. I’ve been asked three separate times to provide proof of insurance because they “can’t locate” the documents.

Most recently, I received a notice from the county tax office stating that the VTR-262 Affidavit of Heirship was completed incorrectly—the decedent’s name was left off the form, an error made by the lender.

Customer service has been terrible. I’ve had to wait on hold for long periods nearly every time I’ve called. You cannot reach anyone locally; everything goes through a generic 1-800 number, and each call requires re-explaining the entire situation from the beginning.

Overall, the service has been extremely disappointing and has added unnecessary stress during an already difficult situation.
