Unfair Charges and Poor Transparency

I strongly advise against using SwissCaution due to their lack of transparency regarding administrative costs. I was surprised by a CHF 100 'hidden fee' for a transaction they handled with my landlord without my prior consent or notification. Had I been informed, I would have paid the landlord directly to avoid the surcharge. SwissCaution is an expensive way to manage a rental guarantee. A standard bank deposit is a much better financial move, or even competitors like FirstCaution who offer a significantly better experience.

They even charge you for calling their help center, even though it's their fault. Never will use this service and strong recommend against.

Avoid SwissCaution – Hidden Fees & Slow Refunds!
Terrible experience! SwissCaution charged me CHF 100 in hidden fees after paying my landlord without informing me—I could have paid it myself and avoided the fee.

On top of that, they took months to refund my premium after I moved out in July, even though their policy says I’m entitled to a prorated refund. Customer service was slow and unhelpful, always hiding behind “policy rules.”

🚨 Save your money and use a traditional bank deposit instead! SwissCaution is just an expensive middleman that adds fees with no real benefit. Avoid them!

I’ve never had a worse experience than I’ve had with SwissCaution. With the very first letter they sent me, they immediately threatened me with Betreibung (debt enforcement). This company operates with arrogance and zero customer care. Stay away—you will regret dealing with them!

Awful. Needed the coverage starting in October. In December they sent me a bill for the entire amount again saying that in terms and conditions the first full year payment only covers until December. Corrupt!!
