Insanely good quality locally sourced food at a local pub.
The Duck on the Pond has always been a good place to eat. The current management team have been there just over a year now and have really pulled out the stops for great quality food and a lovely dining experience. We had a regular evening meal late last year, which was excellent and saw that they were doing Tasting Menus with accompanying paired wines. Based on how good the first meal had been, we booked the full Tasting Menu (12 courses!) for our joint 60th birthday treat and were not disappointed. The setting is warm, friendly and pleasant and the quality of the food, mostly local (they note how far away food has been sourced from) or from their kitchen garden, is superb. The tasting menu included items that would not be out of place on a Michelin starred restaurant experience in terms of flavour and quality, at a fraction of the cost. Utterly delicious food, staff were knowledgeable and attentive and it was a delightful 3 hours. Well worth a visit and we will be going back.
