Excellent idea but poor interface. Simple things, like being able to start the timer for a specific client (not a project) is not possible. If you are making shoes for different people for example, ar... See more

Paid for a Year, Stopped Using It, No Fair Resolution
We used Toggl Track for our company and were generally satisfied with the product itself. The reason for this 1-star review is not the software, but the company's approach to customer satisfaction.
We renewed an annual subscription for $324 in January 2026. A few months later, due to cost-cutting measures, we cancelled the service and requested a refund for the unused portion of the subscription. We even suggested alternative solutions such as calculating the months already used at the monthly rate and refunding the remaining balance.
Toggl refused any form of refund, credit, or goodwill exception and repeatedly referred to their no-refunds policy.
While they may be contractually correct, I find this approach extremely disappointing from a customer experience perspective. Keeping payment for many months of unused service without offering any flexibility does not feel customer-friendly.
The product may be good, but this experience has significantly changed my perception of the company.
This app is a scam
This app is a scam, they will take your money without your permission. Be careful.
My honest review with more than 2 years of use.
Fantastic tool for time tracking with a lot of useful functions, but the overall quality seems to go down with time. Functions get changed, without enough testing, so users are forced to test “final” changes, that might disrupt their daily use of the software. I already had issues, but they got resolved after reporting them. These features should have been in beta for way longer, considered it is a software many are dependent on if they need it as freelancer or company on a daily basis.
They lack a real customer / user support. Even with severe issues, that prevent you from using their service (at least temporary), you have to wait up to a few days until you receive an answer from their, at times, very unmotivated support team.
Brilliant time tracker
Brilliant time tracker. It's simple and effective, and their reports are super helpful for my business. The browser plugin isn't great, but the native Mac OS app is excellent, and super quick and easy to use. And it's just designed well.
Paying Customer Ignored After Ongoing Account Issues
Paying Toggl Track and Toggl Plan user recently ran into serious account problems; deletion, missing data, and repeated login failures. Despite multiple messages, Toggl support stopped responding completely.

I started using it at my last job before being laid off. I used it for a few weeks and I liked it. It was easy and not as cumbersome as the others.

Nice product for basic time tracking but the sales team is very unpleasant and harassing free users, so I won't recommend. There's so many options on the market where you don't have to deal with nonsense and threats to disconnect your account when you are a free user.

Someone used my information to sign up for an account without my permission. I emailed support to have the account and data deleted. I’ve only received generic emails back and no response as to how to fix the issue. Scam service and zero support!

Worse for wear
The product has significantly deteriorated over time. It has a laggy UI, autocomplete often does not work, and it has multiple race conditions that mess up your entries.
The main feature I wanted on web "start timer from the last time logged today", has been available for years in the app, but never brought to other platforms. Underinvestment is clear in existing products.
It used to be great, but it no longer is. Avoid this.
Absolute gem; device agnostic
I have been using the TOGGL time recording tool on my iPhone, Win PC and pretty much any device at my client locations for over 7 years. I am a sole trader providing professional services, so I log my time for use in my invoicing and also for professional development records. I keep it pretty simple...one project represents one client and then any infinite "What have you done" time entries. I track by blocks of 0.25 hours --- although TOGGL is limitless/ambivalent as to what time units are used.
At the end of a month, I run a Detailed Report for the nominated start/end dates and download as a CSV. I then use a spreadsheet tool to import that CSV to sort, subtotal and review time entries.
I use TOGGL on my iPhone app as well as through any browser on any platform.
I do not understand why TOGGL receives such bad reviews on this site.
Data Disrespect
Ignoring multiple request to delete personal data, instead trying to get me to jump through hoops to remove it.
'Email here, no email here, no go to this page, no sign in and navigate all around...'
Very bad, illegal, and just crappy.
Try them at risk of their disrespect for you, and your data.
Terrible customer service
Been using this since 2018. Now I have to reverify my account and the email digit code does not come through. Their chat support is terrible and it is impossible to get a human on there. Then they say 24 hours to connect to a team mate and they will email me!!!

The best free tracker I've used.
I've been using the free version daily for about a year and it's fantastic.
I remember trying multiple trackers throughout October last year but kept coming back to Toggl.
Right now I'm simply using it for multiple projects and multiple clients, and using Ctrl+Shift+T as the keyboard shortcut to toggle the timer on/off and that's about it.
Initially I wanted to integrate it with Trello but decided to keep it simple. With Trello I can't recall exactly how it performed, but it definitely was easier to use it than some competitors. I think this is one of the reasons I stuck with it.

The customer support never responds to emails. I cancelled the subscription the day after they charged the annual fee. Emailed the customer service to see if they can refund the prorated fee, and there has been zero response from them since. 4 follow up emails were sent and still haven’t heard anything back from them. Would never do any business with this company
its really over done.
its really over done.. no integration with Xero...
So sssoooo many delays when uploading data or trying to set up, im on the free premium trail and honestly... it buggy as well, ill try set a setting, there is no save buttom sometimes and it doesnt save.
to top it off, when you go into break mode, there is this super loud ticking noise?
No way in the world im having my employee listen to a ticking noise when they are on break, it sends the wrong message about work culture and honestly i could not find anywhere that i could turn it off
Trail over.
Unable to put in my VAT number
Unable to put in my VAT number (says it's wrong, it isn't). Unable to buy subscription. Intercom is broken. Unable to get help.
Very frustrating.
You definitly can't trust that tool
You definitly can't trust that tool. It happen so ofter that your last entry get lost. Somtimes, only the body of your entry. Sometimes the full entry disapear when you stop it and start a new one,...
Lacks basic functionality for a…
Lacks basic functionality for a freelancer like me. For the needs i have, i might aswell use Google Calendar, as it does the job just as good. It has some good stuff in there, but the basics isn't met unfortunately. For example:
Being able to mark time entries as being already billed. I have no idea right now, what i have billed, and what i haven't billed.
Being able to select a "magnet" so time entries lock to fx. 15 minutes. I have to be on the right "zoom" in the browser for it to lock time entries to 15 min, or else it will just lock to 10 minutes.
Not being able to see time entry names of 15 min slots, when "zoomed out" in week view.
Not being able to just mark a time entry to a client - it must have a project attached. Though i solved this by just making project for each client called "Hourly billing". Still hard to keep track of what is billed, and what is not though.
Not being able to add information (like text), to clients or projects.
It feels like you have a lot of good programmers, designers, marketers, supporters, etc. But you don't have a realistic test person to test the functionality out.
Had really hoped this would be my time management tool.
