I spoke with a Torqeedo representative in Illinois in mid August regarding a propeller for my Sea Cycle. It is a human powered pontoon style water craft with a two bladed propeller with a diameter of 16 inches and a pitch of 3. We discussed the fact it was powered by a bicycle style gear leg and that I was looking for a more efficient propeller. Her recommendation, which I agreed with, was the 1972-00 with a diameter of 10.2 inches and a pitch of 6.9 Once it was installed and I started pedaling I realized it was too easy to pedal resulting in too high of a RPM. I do not fault the representative as it is a unique situation and not an electric motor. I contacted the Torqeedo office in Germany and received an automated response. I emailed them twice more with questions regarding suggestions they may have regarding the propeller. I have received no response. I was hoping to discuss what pitch, diameter and possibly a 3 blade option using the 1972-00 as a reference. I appreciate the technology Torqeedo has brought to propellers, just hoping to hear their insight.

Extremely Disappointing Experience with Torqeedo – Serious Product Failures and Lack of Effective Support
We are Ferrão Boats, a professional boat tour operator based in Portugal, operating passenger vessels on the Douro River.
We invested in Torqeedo electric propulsion systems because we believed in the company's reputation, reliability and commitment to sustainable marine technology. Unfortunately, our experience has been extremely disappointing and has seriously affected our business operations.
Our experience involves several unacceptable situations:
1. Delivery of a motor different from the one purchased
In May 2026, we purchased a brand-new Torqeedo Cruise 12 motor through Pavana Services, in Spain. The motor initially delivered did not match the specifications ordered.
Following our complaint, a replacement motor was supplied, apparently in brand-new condition.
However, during preparations for an official maritime inspection, we discovered that the replacement motor's serial number did not match the purchase invoice. Further verification indicated that the motor was actually a Cruise 10 manufactured in 2019, apparently used or refurbished, rather than the brand-new Cruise 12 we had purchased and paid for.
Despite repeated attempts to obtain clarification and resolve this serious discrepancy, we have not received a satisfactory explanation or solution.
2. Serious mechanical failures in recently purchased motors
In addition to the above situation, other recently purchased Torqeedo motors developed serious technical problems after a very short period of operation.
One motor began producing abnormal mechanical noises and subsequently stopped providing propulsion altogether, despite its display continuing to register RPM and showing no corresponding error message.
These failures occurred in equipment purchased less than 30 days earlier.
3. Serious consequences for our commercial operations
Our company operates licensed passenger vessels, and propulsion reliability is absolutely essential for passenger safety, operational continuity and the fulfilment of our commercial commitments.
As a direct consequence of these problems, our vessel has been unable to operate normally, resulting in cancellations, operational disruption, financial losses and reputational damage.
4. Lack of an effective and urgent solution
Since the first failure, approximately two weeks ago, we have maintained direct contact with the supplier, repeatedly requesting urgent technical assistance and replacement equipment.
We have also escalated the situation to Torqeedo, providing purchase invoices, serial numbers, photographs, error records and videos documenting the mechanical failures.
Despite these efforts, we are still awaiting an effective solution that allows us to resume normal operations.
We have even expressed our willingness to purchase an additional motor immediately, provided that it is available and that reliable technical support can be guaranteed.
Our request to Torqeedo is straightforward:
We urgently need the replacement of the non-conforming equipment, an immediate solution for the defective motors, and a clear written response addressing the failures and the commercial consequences suffered by our company.
We believe that a manufacturer with Torqeedo's international reputation should provide dependable products and responsive after-sales support, particularly to professional operators whose businesses depend on its technology.
We remain willing to resolve this situation constructively, but the prolonged absence of an effective solution is unacceptable.
We hope that Torqeedo's senior management will take immediate responsibility for addressing this situation and restoring our confidence in the brand.

Last May, I purchased a Torqeedo Travel L 3 Hp motor with a 1080w lithium battery. Due to personal reasons, I couldn't use it until mid-July. When attempting to charge the battery for the very first time, it was completely impossible. We went to our local supplier and verified that the battery was defective from the factory and wouldn't take a charge. In mid-July, the local supplier contacted the official distributor for Spain, Francobordo, to process the warranty for a product that hadn't even been used yet. From that point on, a nightmare of neglect began. After countless daily calls and emails from the supplier, Francobordo did nothing but pass the buck: they claimed they had sent the report to the factory, that they depended on Torqeedo, and that "they couldn't do anything else." The solution took an eternity. They didn't confirm the shipment of another battery until August 25th, and it didn't arrive until September 8th. It was nearly a two-month wait to replace a component that was defective right out of the box, completely ruining our summer vacation since we couldn't use the motor at all. To try to compensate for this disaster, we requested to exchange the long-shaft motor for a short-shaft one (assuming any economic loss ourselves if there was a price difference), but both Francobordo and Torqeedo denied the request without the slightest commercial empathy. Torqeedo and Francobordo have offered the worst technical and customer service I have ever seen. To this day, I don't even know if the motor works well, but what is absolutely clear to me is that I completely advise against buying such an expensive brand with such a deficient and terrible after-sales support.

I bought the Torqeedo XS S for my inflatable boat. Suddenly, and for no apparent reason, the display turned out to be damaged. There was no external damage—not even a scratch. The repair technician said this happens quite often. It makes you wonder if it’s a manufacturing defect—a weak mechanical design. My phone has been dropped countless times without the display breaking. It’s an expensive issue. Since you often have to transport the motor, it proves to be very fragile. Think twice before getting this motor.

$20 shipping for a few shear pins is way too much. Unfortunately, you are the only place I can get them so you can get away with it.

I've had my Torqeedo Travel 1003S for 15 years now! It has worked great until just recently where some maintenance is now required. (I've done nothing but wipe it clean at the end of the season for the last 15 years.) The parts were all in stock and easy to find and order. Very impressive for a 15 year-old motor.

My first email was answered but I didn’t see that my follow-up email was answered.
A cable should not fail with an inaccessible one watt resistor in potting compound! A failure in a part that costs pennies required spending almost $200 to fix, i.e. changing the whole cable.

Helpful person when I called the support line. The motor had been great until we cracked the propeller (our own fault). We were able to get a new propeller and very fast shipping from the Torqeedo website.

I needed technical help and was easily able to get an agent on the phone to talk me through a solution. This is so rare today but so greatly appreciated when you need help with a complex problem.

We have an older T1003, at least 10years old. when it runs, it’s great. Powerful, quiet
But, it is unreliable and undependable. Motoredtothe public pier at Lopez Island, but had to be towed back to boat. Lots of E23, E30, E32 messages. We’ve tried spraying the contacts with WD40 per Torqeedo’s Chicago office recommendation.
At the Seattle BoatShow in Jan 2027, I’ll buy a replacement…not another Torqueedo

Anthony in service was incredibly helpful (and patient). Unfortunately I had a product failure that never should have occurred (the safety magnet on my 1103 was missing and was not covered by warranty because I bought the motor 2.5 years earlier and hadn’t opened the box due to health issues). He walked me through the disassembly of the tiller so I could insert a metal washer. Thank god for Anthony!
