Don’t believe what you see and don’t expect them to have your back
First time on your site was Monday 3-11-19. Was on my way to work on the train and I decided to look for my dream car. It was amazing I couldn’t believe it the car of my dreams, an Audi a5 2016 trwith 29000 miles for 18495.00. Wow. Sent an inquiry through your website and received two calls from the dealer about coming down. So after work I did. Everything checked out and I test drove the car. I asked the salesman why it was so cheap and explanation was they deal in a lot of repossessed and lease cars. So I sat with the salesman and learned there were dealer prep and some type of certification that was like an extended warranty which added another 2300. 00 onto the price. The price of 20800.00 was still acceptable so I gave them a $500.00 deposit. I informed the salesman that I wanted him to work up a finance price to see what was available but I was able to pay cash if I didn’t like the rate. I left the dealer thinking how great of an app this was. So come Wednesday I returned to the dealer to finalize my purchase. I had a bad feeling when I walked in and the salesman was more interested with me obtaining the insurance on the car before I even finished the deal. Anyway I was brought to the office of the finance officer to go over the numbers. He then produced a loan document with interest for 5.9% that increased to 9.9% in three months. And the purchase price was now over $24000.00 I started to question him on the price and financing and he kept talking in circles at this point I informed him I was not interested in financing and would pay cash on the agreed upon price. He then informed me that the cash price was over $25000.00. When I questioned the difference in price I was informed that the list price was 27000 and I was getting it 2000 cheaper. And did I really think I was getting an Audi A5 for 20800. I was in shock. I had a written up agreement from them and a promise from you that this doesn’t happen and my first time using your site this happens. Wow you guys must really screen your partners. Just wanted you to know that I will never ever use your site again and I believe that I am not the first person that this has happened to. If I worked there I would start looking for a new job because this isn’t going to last long. Your business model is horrible. Anyway thanks for wasting six hours of my life on this earth that I will not get back.
Ps I still haven’t heard anything from truecar 3/31/19
I found the used car I was interested…
I found the used car I was interested in at a recently reduced price..went into dealership to purchase with no fianancing...
Was told the cash price was 2000 plus over what was listed with Truecar.
Told them I had a guaranteed price..blew me off.
And if I wanted the price i offered I would have to finance with them for 6 mos, or pay the inflated price.
I walked..before I could leave lot ( sorry forgot to mention a name brand dealership in Burleson, TX.) The sales moderator came out trying to convince me to add money to the pot. Told him i didnt have the additional 600.00 dollars over my original offer. And I was not going to borrow or finance Anything.
To make a long story short, I drove off, forgot it was a holiday and couldn't get in touch with the state atty.office on consumer protection. So I sent a text to Truecar to let.them know about this dealership...in just a few mins I received a msg to call and I got Mick on the phone..told him about the problem and he said what they tried to do to blackmail me ( my term, not Mick's) into financing the kia van was totally wrong and he would contact them..(I had also gotten names of the used car sales Mgr and i had photographed the document with the inflated price before they realized what i had done).
And he would call and find out why they were breaking their contract.
With in 20 mins of hanging up with Mick, Angel the used car sales mgr called and asked if I stoll wanted the 2015 Kia Sedona ex for the price i offered..i said yes. He wanted to know how soon I could get back to pay or put deposit down.
Now for the last of this story..while I was signing papers I found several typos..and was just told to just sign, it was no big deal..Yes it is a big deal, that is a legal document! Also presented me a doc not filled out, of who owed who what, and then a financial document...all to sign..
NO, NO, NO, not without corrections, and figures filled in and was told that the financial doc was, just for their contact list. And without a SS number couldnt be used for a loan..
Have they not heard of the blackweb.
Heck I am 74 and know what that is...
WITHOUT TRUECAR AND THEIR TEAM OF PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY MICK AND BRYAN, I wouldn't have the new to me2015 Kia Sedona EX van in my drive..
Now for the "H" dealership in Burleson, TX.next to Sam's club.
I would never recommend them...
I felt IF they did that to me who else might they try that trick with...
Beware..read everything and take pics
Protect yourself with those people.
The last statements are my opinions based on my experience today.
Thank you again Mick and Bryan.
TrueCar and USAA's buying service… not perfect, but it does save money!
Using TrueCar and USAA's buying service did generate a lower initial price offer compared to our local Subaru dealer sales reps' offer. However, between misunderstandings and the added cost of accessories and service "protection" contracts, the final cost was much higher (about $5000 higher) than I expected. Yes, I would have encountered those additional cost "options" at any dealer. And, it's not that the add-on's or protective service contracts are deceptive... their cost is simply unknown until the day you sit down to negotiate the final cost. The total cost of buying a new car is still a very difficult thing to fully understand up front. And, I am convinced the dealer makes most of their money off the ADD-ON's vs on the car itself (Examples: mud guards, arch wheel moldings, 3M protective film, Preferred interior/exterior chemical protective coating, Crystal Fusion for windshield, 10 yr/100,000 mile "Added Security Service contract, etc.).
But, overall, I believe I saved about $1000 using USAA's buying service (TrueCar).
Fantastic car buying service and it's free.
Thanks to TrueCar, I bought a new car in 2016 and another one in 2018. The whole car buying process is so easy from start to finish. Basically just enter the year/make/model/options and color of the vehicle you want. Near by dealers will immediately email you offers with the VIN #. Print out the offer, bring into the dealer and that's it, couldn't be simpler. This service doesn't cost you anything but saves you time and money. Highly recommended.
Poor experience at Mercedes of Belleve, WA.
Had such a poor experience with Mercedes of Bellevue, thought I’d share my experience.
I wanted to test drive the 2018 C300, they look good, are at a good price point, etc etc. After setting up the appointment with a sales rep, Malachi; I reached the showroom. Malachi was very cordial and professional, asked if I wanted water, coffee. So far so good. Then we went to test drive the C300; instead of having a 2018, he got a 2017 C300; and said the new model is the same performance wise just the looks are different. I said fine, lets drive it atleast. The car drive was great. We reached back to the dealership. And we decided to price it and talk about the discounts they could offer. I want a few specific options which Malachi said are not present anywhere in the nation and the car will need to be custom built – on a custom built car there are apparently no dealer discounts only invoice price – some small Microsoft pricing. The price you see is the price you get. I was fine with that too. So I told him to price it out. During configuring the car I asked if he had a car with a specific option (black seats with red seat belts), to which he shows me the picture on the site. When I asked to see the head up display in any car, he said that’s rarely ordered and hence would be a custom order. The sales person next to him said he had a car in the maintenance garage which had it. So Malachi reluctantly agreed to pull that car in a little bit. He then priced the car on the Mercedes site (which gave the MSRP cost) he goes to his manager and comes back and shows me the cost based all on MSRP. I explained that why does he not show me monthly cost based on the invoice price he mentioned I could get; to which he went round and round in circles on how the 2019 car prices are not out and how he cannot have in writing the prices. All I wanted was to know (verbally) if I bought a 2018 C300 which costed ‘x’, my monthly lease or finance cost would be ‘y’. But the numbers he continued to explain were the max I would pay (something like $875/month for 3 year lease with $7500 down, and $1100 for financing a $58K MSRP car), and said if we ordered the car today then when it arrives we will know the cost. This made no sense. So finally after 20 mins of trying to explain that all I wanted was a realistic number that I could work off, to know with a decent margin of error what my monthly payments would be based of the invoice (that they promised, and not MSRP) he said he will get his manager to explain. After another 20mins of waiting he comes back and says his manager is with another client and will come by after that. So I told him to show me the head up display option in the meantime on any car. He said he would be back but never returned. After 30 mins more I got frustrated and looked for the manager myself who said he would need another 30 mins (there were exactly 2 other customers in the showroom and yet they thought it was busy!). I told him to call me with the numbers, which has still not happened.
Overall, poor knowledge of sales people, unwillingness to show options on the car, making customers wait for hours without simple information, is my reason not to go back to Mercedes of Bellevue. May still get a Mercedes, but not from them.
Adil.

True car is more helpful to dealers than to buyers
I believed Truecar to be an independent experience that would offer me pricing info of what others in my area were paying for similar vehicles. . It did not. It seems to be more helpful for the dealers. There was no a Truecar dealer in my city so it would not give me a comparative price. I had to lie and say I lived in a nearby city to get a quote - and only after giving info to the local dealer.
Truecar was overall a great experience
Truecar was overall a great experience. Ask your dealer about an offer code, as I was sent a code for an extra $500 discount the day AFTER I bought.

Advertised and emailed back a deal on a 2013 Corolla for $7900 and when my son arrived (driving 90 mins from Albuquerque) they switched the offer to $9500. Bait and switch - very shameful tactic.

Please keep ur data up to date it was hard for me to select a 2018 Dodge Charger Hellcat so when dealerships would call they would have the wrong car or offer me a car I didn't want. A lot of time wasted.
TrueCar offer = Big Mark up
I just received a TrueCar offer on a vehicle that is over $1000.00 more then what the dealer is advertising on his/her website. This is one vehicle of many the dealer is offering at this price, so this is a legitimate offer from the dealer.
Same VIN. Same everything but the price is over a thousand higher from TrueCar. Why? Is this their mark up for steering buyers to the dealership?
"Buyer Beware"
Very Satisfied First Time User
First Time User. Very Satisfied. I would definitely do it again. Once you know exactly what car you want, it is very easy. I only got 3 dealer names but one blew my socks off with their offer. We saved several thousand on a new Honda CR-V.
Serra Chevrolet strikes again
Serra Chevrolet of Birmingham , AL. sent a trucar exclusive guaranteed discount offer to sell a 2017 Colorado, then refused to honor, the discount. Guess Tony Serra's word matches the Serra history. Don't trust Trucar (who wouldn't do anything) or Serra. Speaking with attorney on breach of written contract
Great buying experience. Took the hassle out of purchasing a new car.
Had contact from all the dealers of the car make I was looking for within minutes of submitting my request. I like the comparison of what typical buyers have paid for similar vehicle and showing my offer was a great price.

It's works because I clicked on request it triggers to RT 4 Hyundai Paramus and I received email from dealership with additional incentive and cash bonus offer So I guess it prove effective for dealership on paperwork to match my request on down and monthly payment
True car help to buy my car with the the car I want with my price range
True car help to buy my car with the price true car offer
Excellent service.
By using TrueCar I was able to find the car with all the features I wanted. I was able to work with the dealership to price match the car with the TrueCar Service App, plus I was able to get more discount by using the dealer website (Potamkin Hyundai) And getting the offer the had on their main page. I purchased my car with no hidden fee or extra cost. I will definitely recommend anyone looking for to purchase new/used to use TrueCar and to first read the reviews on the dealership of your choice. I'm glad I used TrueCar and able to purchased my car.
Excellent tool, especially for first time buyers!
Please take your time get on the internet and use True Car to help you get the best deal you can. I got my Honda Civic LX Sedan for 1250.00 under invoice, never thought I could do that. Shopped at five different dealerships to get the best deal, pitted one dealership against another. It worked they all wanted/said they could beat/give you the best deal. I made a very low ball offer at first and one dealership admitted to me No one would even come back with an offer at that price. It seems I was 1500.00 under invoice but, that was a great piece of information and I did come up. I still purchased under invoice, my brother's were amazed, so proud of me. Use True Car to your advantage they are a great source and according to their statistics, I did great. Thank you True Car, couldn't have done it without you.
Worked Well
Overall the buying experience went very well w/Truecar. Dealership was able to beat the price by a bit.. and at last minute offer some end of hear/holiday discounts.
I found true car price graph to be a good gauge for comparing dealerships and prices
Best Buying Experience
We received offers from 3 dealerships within 4 hours of our inquiry thru True Car. We went to the dealership that gave us the best e-mail offer and negotiated a purchase price, but because they were further away than our local dealership we presented to our local dealership the offer that we made with the dealership that was further away and they were willing to meet or beat the offer presented. It was important to us to deal with the local dealership so that they could service our car locally since we got a 3 year service policy included in the price of the car. This has been one of the best car buying experiences that I have ever had. Thanks True Car!!!
