True Car Saves Time and Money
This is the second time in the past year I used Truecar. Last year I leased a Jeep Patriot. True car quoted me a price and the dealer made an attractive lease with the cost savings. I also received a $1000 off certificate that I presented at the conclusion of the deal and it resulted in additional savings. This year I used true car to lease a VW passat as part of VW sign and drive event. I received and offer from Jennings VW that was hands down lower than my local dealer.
Doesn't get any better than Mario Cajic and Ahmad at Freedom Chevrolet
From the moment we made contact with True Car the ball started rolling. I immediately had 6 sales reps contact me by email. 4 didn't really pursue my business but Mario Cajic at Freedom Chevrolet didn't let me just fall to the wayside. He pursued me without pressure and just showed me what he had to offer that met the items I desired. Wonderful sales rep and will definitely do business with him again. Loved the experience of Truecar.com
Will buy cars only through truecar!
Went only to one car dealer with a true car price guaranteed...30 mins later I had the car. On true car dealers compete for your business so customer is in charge already with a price that is so competitive you can't get if you just walk in the dealership!
It is nice to see a price offer $6000 less than MSRP.
Website is cool but dealership is just ok
Website is cool but you will get call bombing once you place the request for price locking. It's how dealership works with the website, but still annoying to get twenty calls from dealers in two hours.
Dealers are how to crack, time to show buyer's negotiation power and extraordinary patience. Spare at least 3 hours for dealership, coz they will keep you waiting that long till you give up and accept their offer. Unless you show no great interest in purchasing.
High pressure sales. Misleading offers.
I have been contacted on numerous occasions by Truecar trying to solicit my business. They have been absolutely nothing but a headache to deal with. Truecar's representative tried his hardest to pressure sell me and repeatedly ignored my lack of desire for their product telling me that I didn't know what I was missing out on. Additionally, they constantly preach about all of the benefits they offer but fail to mention the super fine details about how their program actually works. Run from Truecar...run far away.
Great tool
I used Truecar to find the lowest price on my new Lexus. Unfortunately, their dealers didn't offer me the best price. But it made me knowledgeable about the price. Bought the car from AAA online who quoted me a fantastic low price without any haggling at all. They found the car I wanted in GA and the dealer delivered it to my home in NC in 2 days. How great is that?!!!
TruCar experience
Try different online services. TC offer the best price and I did like when it send alerts when its a price chance. Great starting price for negociate with the dealer.
Bait and switch
Went to Helms motors in Hollywood Fl.Was suppose to talk to someone named Gustavo about a Ford Fusion and a Nissan Altima. They had Eddy help me and we saw the Altima it had problems so we looked at the Fusion and they had 2 that were the same year one black and one silver. We went with the black came back the next day and they told us when they cleaned the engine it had water so it wouldn't be ready to sell but the silver one was.I had given Eddy my true car papers for the price out the door of 9776.He charged me that plus added on another dealers fee of 699 which was already included in the total price of the car,the true car price was 9177. He couldn't find my print outs and kept showing me the price on the company's web site and he and another guy who does the financing said there is no way they could offer that car for lower price because they weren't making money selling it to me at this low price.
Bought the car drove it back to Texas and when I got home I found the email and sent it to Eddy and asked him if he was going to honor the True car price they quoted me he said he would ask his boss but I never heard anything else from him.
The best car buying experience that I could imagine
I have bought a handful of new cars over the years. It was always a tiresome process that I dreaded. So much time and energy was wasted trying to wade through "old fashioned" car dealer tricks and traps.
When it was time to replace our old, dead minivan for a new one I almost considered limping it along just to avoid the new vehicle buying process. A friend told me about a family member of theirs that tried TrueCar. I figured it was worth a try and in a matter of minutes I had access to great information and a real, very good price quote from a dealer who was fast, friendly and helpful.
The TrueCar process, along with the TrueCar dealer made the process so effortless. No haggling, just a fast, fair price and the best car buying experience I could imagine. My local dealer wanted to sit down and haggle for hours, employing all of the usual tricks, like add-on stickers above msrp, etc. TrueCar and their member dealer respected my time and gave me a fast, fair offer and allowed me to purchase an awesome new van. I considered a used van, but their price on a new model was so good, it was advantageous to go that route instead.
This service was excellent for me and I would highly recommend it!
It was great!
I went before to the dealer to negotiate the car and came back and look into Truecar, and the price was better than the dealer offer me at the first time.
Makes buying a vehicle easier
True Car gives any buyer the info. they need BEFORE ever walking into a dealership. The real cost of the vehicle to the dealer is "exposed", as well as the values of a buyers' trade in. Dealers / Salesman are the professionals, so it gives a buyer the "ammo" they need to get a fair deal. Buyers definitely need to do their homework. Just so you know, not ALL True Car dealers offer the same deal, so be willing to drive a distance to get the BEST deal for you!
Can car buying REALLY be this HASSLE FREE?
After the run around from other Jaguar dealers re pricing, I submitted a request through TRUECar. The result of hearing from Don Ingles at Livermore Jaguar was almost incredible, as in "too good to be true". It was very efficient: a great initial email offer, a phone call, a few emails to set the details, and I went in for a test drive and placed an order then. Don gave me a great price AND NO HASSLE!
(So, the answer to the title question is an emphatic "YES!")
TrueCar works! Saves u thousands! 💵💵👍
Went into dealership with my TrueCar quote. Waited to see what they would offer. Showed them the TrueCar quote and with no hassles they honored the TrueCar price. Saved me a few thousand!!
Truecar is LEGIT!
I've used Truecar.com for two different car purchases. One for a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder, and one for a 2015 Toyota Sienna. Overall I feel that the price I got on True Car is the lowest and most painless price you could possibly get from any car dealership during a purchase transaction. I personally took the true car price to a non true car dealership to offer my previous dealer an opportunity to win the sale. They literally laughed at me, and said I will never get the car for that price, and that it requires all kinds of special qualification discounts, like Military/Birthday/college, etc.. This is of course all un-true. I went to the True-car dealership and purchased both vehicles for the exact price True Car said. Additionally, the Trade in price I received was Fair on the Nissan trade, and VERY good on the Toyota trade. Which means the Dealer didn't try to compensate on the trade in value. Overall I would never buy another new car without using TrueCar in the future.
Great buying experience using the website and the app.
Truecar helps you look for the right vehicle for your needs. It then makes it easy for you and the dealership to meet in between and cut off the haggling (this is effective if the selected dealers will all be honest with their offer) Truecar is how the future of internet car sales should be. After 11 years and four vehicle lease/purchase, I wish truecar was established back then.
You'll Save More $$$ WITHOUT TrueCar
I was excited at the start of my TrueCar experience thinking I was really being helped and "in favor" as the consumer. It was helpful to see what others were paying and trying to evaluate a cost point prior to going into the dealership. Unfortunately, what I quickly learned is that the dealerships are the ones who actually benefit. By having a "TrueCar certificate" it pins you into a corner to pay that price and absolutely nothing lower. There is no negotiation because the dealership can basically blame the certificate and not offer any other pricing on a vehicle. Don't get yourself stuck!
They do what they say
They present you with many offers and many dealerships. You pick the offer that suits you best and go to the dealer making the offer.
In my experience the dealer went along with the stated price. The rest of the deal is like any car purchase, a negotiation and a conclusion.
When purchasing a car, always remember BUYER BEWARE.
Helpful, but dealers can get around it.
Customers should know that most dealerships will not carry an exact match to the customer's ideal car. In that case dealerships will try to locate one similar at another dealership and have it delivered. The one I purchased came from 4 hours away. This tactic opens the dealer up to reconfiguring and adding to their offer, since they are no longer bound to match the TrueCar value. Luckily I was able to use a computer at another station at the dealership to go online and put in the details of the car from 4 hours away to see if their offer was close to the TrueCar cost for one with those options. It was more expensive. The dealership also did not match the written trade-in offer I had from another dealership. Customers should know that any extended warranty option is also negotiable, if they choose to add that cost. The dealership made up for the lost profit on the new car through the sale of the trade-in. TrueCar should widen their search for the customer's ideal car to a 200 mile radius. When dealerships try to sell you cars from a different lot, customers should take with them an electronic device to be able to look up the TrueCar value of the exact car the dealership finds to sell you from that other lot out of the immediate area.
Avoid Nissan of Staten Island
Went there yesterday because they gave me a reasonable quote on a 2015 Sentra SL via email. Was promised a premium package and navigation package with added benefits. Got there and wasted roughly 1.5 hours. They take your licence right away to run your credit. If you qualify for 0% APR they will purposefully jack up the final price. I had the quoted price ($19,795) in cash in my messenger bag, but was hoping to put down half and finance the rest especially since I have 700+ credit score (pre-approved for Nissan Altima and Maxima). Spoke to a sales manager and the finance manager. They tried the "yo-yo financing' game (classic scam). When I wouldn't budge they typed up a made up invoice of the car via Microsoft word and presented it to me as proof that Nissan had charged them $21,000 for the car. They suddenly also did not have the color choice I wanted. I was dealing with Frank Rao, Ismael Robles (the manager that originally quoted me $19,795 - lied to get me in the store), and either Manny Lopez or Fernando Reyes. The only decent person there was Nicole Rao because she was able to direct me to their restroom.
This is a classic scam. It's a shame they need to scam to make a living, but I guess even thieves need to eat.........
I would strongly recommend you avoid this place like the bubonic plague......
Price was " to get people in".
Certificate was a great price, unfortunately it was not honored or the vehicle was not really available. Good tool to help you price. If you're looking for a car that people actually want and you aren't aarp, active military, just graduated, *and* a current brand owner, then expect to pay a little more than the cert. One dealer said right off the bat it includes all possible incentives and some would be near impossible to combine. He said, "We have to do that to compete on those sites". Most did not even have the car in the trim level. Prices offered from non-truecar dealerships on a real vehicle, on the lot, were not close to the lowest truecar price. So dealers can safely offer thousands below invoice on cars that they don't have.
You'll get a lot of phone calls if you click next for a certificate, but isn't that the whole point. Just tell them you're not interested/already bought and they'll leave you alone. In the end, I verified that a dealer had the model I wanted and ended up buying, getting a decent deal from one of the truecar dealers. It's a dealer site as much as it is a consumer one.
