I'm speaking about Kofax Power PDF Advanced (before Nuance).
I get this program through my company. By chance, I was able to install another PDF reader/editor. Kofax is so old fashion! Takes to much time to open, is to much linked with Microsoft product, doesn't run smoothly... Definitively not the best program.
I paid for 24 months of download insurance ($206) and within 24 months had to reset windows. I have my receipt and emailed it. There is noone to call. Logged in, w ent to download and wasted 45 minutes trying everything and contacting support. The chatbot is USELESS and I need the program today. That's why I paid for download insurance. The insurance is a scam and the software is mediocre. Don't use this company.
After tracing Nuance PDf through to Tungsten Automation I emailed them with a problem I was having with installing my ancient software V1 on an old lap top. The reply was almost instantaneous. Then after providing them with my phone number they called me from the USA to the UK [ within 10 minutes of my giving them my number]and spent 20 or so minutes talking me through the installation process. Paul the Technical Support Specialist was polite and did not seem to be phased that I made a couple of errors on the way to a successful installation. That is what I call service I was also offered a 30% discount on an upgrade. An offer I will probably take up.
I used PaperPort, a simple document management system, for eons. First, it was owned by Xerox, then moved over to Nuance, and now it is in the realm of Tungsten Auto. Just got myself a new computer and saw that finally someone seemed to have done an update on an age-old programming frame. Version 14.8, they called that. Not sure what they did, but on modern machines, it won't even install without legacy help. This can be done, of course. But it is besides the point. For some 130 USD apiece, this simply is a ripoff Tungsten just poured old wine into new bottles. So, don't go for it, unless you're a nostalgia nerd or the firm sees the light and does some serious update in the future. So, off I go to find another good industry product that won't beggar me.
