Terrible company, terrible service, terrible support. Would never ever recommend, every!
Typical call center experience from the rude staff answering the calls (rather dropping calls in your ear), all the way to customer service and account agents that don't answer emails and just ghost you.... The overall experience with the Virgin Active brand has been pathetic!
Absolutely terrible!! Wouldn’t advise anyone to join! They are sneaky!!!
My family's attempt to join Virgin Active in South Africa was a disaster from start to finish, and I feel a responsibility to warn others. It took over two weeks to discover why our memberships weren't working: their staff had signed my son to the wrong club on the wrong package. But more importantly they lied about the cost, telling me my son would be free, then changing me for it and removing all the discounts they promised me for the rest of my family when I signed up. They failed to honour their advertised "Hello September" 20% discount, even though it was noted on the contracts they eventually sent me. They attempted to change a promised free Premier membership for my son into a paid, lower-tier Club membership and then after requesting passport copies for my family via insecure email, they refused to delete them, citing an internal policy that disregards my rights under the POPI Act that wasn't even in the contract. To cap it all off, they took an an inflated amount of money from my bank account via debit order while their own escalations team was supposed to be handling my complaint. Their attempts to "resolve" the issue have been dismissive and have completely ignored the facts. This experience has shown a shocking level of administrative incompetence and a disregard for consumer rights, leaving me with no choice but to lodge formal complaints with the relevant regulators. Please be extremely careful if you decide to do business with this company.
