Very disappointing experience with…

Very disappointing experience with VivaGym Sant Antoni. I cancelled my membership before September started, but because their policy requires cancellation before the 20th of the previous month, I was charged for an entire extra month. I find this rule ridiculous and unnecessarily frustrating.

The gym itself is also poor. There is far too little equipment, machines are frequently broken, and the air conditioning is rarely on, so the gym feels like a sauna. There seems to be no gym etiquette or organization either, weights are constantly left everywhere.

Overall, the facilities and customer service are not worth the money. I would not recommend this gym.

Same prices, fraction of the service

Ever since the change of ownership from Dreamfit to VivaGym, at Av. Enrique Gimeno, 82, 12006 Castelló de la Plana, Province of Castellón, the quality of this gym has plummeted while membership fees remain just as high.

Broken/Removed Amenities: The sauna was out of service for months with promises of repairs, only for management to announce its permanent closure. The drinking water fountain from the Dreamfit days was also completely removed.

No AC All Summer: The air conditioning has been "broken" throughout the entire summer. Instead of fixing a basic necessity, they put giant, deafening industrial fans on the floor.

Poor Maintenance & Broken Equipment: Machines regularly sit broken for weeks with nothing more than paper notes promising fixes.

Hygiene Issues: The cleanliness in the locker rooms and changing area has drastically deteriorated. I recently reported as well mold on the ceiling above some locker areas. The shower floors are unacceptable.

This place no longer feels focused on providing a decent workout environment, just cutting costs at the members' expense. Extremely disappointed.

Scammed by free signup promotion and staff

I signed up at VivaGym Cuzco in Madrid on 24 May 2026 while visiting Spain for a few days on a work trip.

Before joining, I specifically explained to the staff member at reception that I was only in Madrid temporarily and would be leaving Spain at the end of the month. The staff member then suggested that I take advantage of the May free sign-up promotion and explained that I could use the gym for a few days and then cancel before leaving.

I was told that I could do exactly that. I was specifically told that if I cancelled before 30 May, I would not be charged for June.

Based on that information, I signed up.

I used the gym twice and submitted my cancellation request on 29 May 2026, only five days after joining.

Only afterwards did I discover that VivaGym considers the membership active until 30 June and intends to charge me for the entire month of June, despite the fact that I am no longer in Spain and will not use the gym at all.

My issue is not with the facilities themselves. The gym was fine. My issue is that the membership was sold to me on the basis of information that turned out to be incorrect. Had I been told that I would be charged for an additional month after leaving Spain, I would never have signed up and would have simply paid for occasional access elsewhere.

When I contacted customer support, they referred me to the contract terms rather than addressing the fact that I relied on information provided by their staff when making my decision.

Very disappointing experience and a poor way to treat customers who are acting in good faith.

Scam

I cancelled my subscription before the end of the following month to learn it needed to be done 20 days in advance.
I had a lot of exchanges with the support team who always replied something else than my request.
I found out I had not gone the whole process of cancellation and at the end paid 2 extra months... It is a scam.

Too Crowded to Train, Feels Like Profit Over Experience

Overcrowded and Poor Experience

It honestly feels like this gym only cares about getting more and more members without considering the actual experience. it’s almost impossible to work out properly because of how crowded it gets. You’re constantly waiting for machines and it feels like people are on top of each other.

The environment also gets very uncomfortable. The air feels heavy and it’s hard to train normally, and a lot of the machines are often covered in sweat from previous users.

Overall, the overcrowding completely ruins what could otherwise be a decent gym.

Racist establishment

Trainers are useless and racist. They selectively target members to enforce rules that are not followed by other members and in very rude ways.

The trainer named Lucy targeted me upon a request from another member. This wasn't the first time

The most non sense gym I have ever been. I’m on holiday and wanted to keep up my fitness routine so Paid 11.90 euros for a day pass, there are no water station to fill up your water bottle unless you pay nor air conditioning, right now temp 31c. Old equipment, no cleaning stuff to clean after use. Waste of money.

I couldn't get in or use the gym

I got a membership and they wouldn't let me into the gym due to an error in their system. They wouldn't reply to my emails, issue a refund and still charged a joining fee and more moths payment. Terrible service.

Think twice about Vivagym

I recommend carefully reviewing all the details before becoming a member. Towards the end of the month, they offer promotions at very attractive prices. However, they make you sign a contract without providing clear information. If you don’t cancel your membership through the app, they start withdrawing money from your account. If you spend a day waiting at the reception, you will see how many people are complaining about the same issue. That¨s their way of making money.

AVOID

I had a similar experience as some of the people below. While staying in Barcelona for 17 days in July I signed up for a membership untill the end of the July.
I made it very clear to the staff that I only needed a month and not to extend it any further than that. But on August they charged me again and they dont respond in telephones or emails. I will proceed in legal action and inform everyone for this gym practices if something dont happen soon !

I tried to cancel my account but it was not working. I asked an employee to help me and they confirmed the cancellation. 2 months later I saw that the subscription was still running. I contacted the support and could cancel the subscription, but I didn't get back the 2 months I paid for nothing. Really bad experience I have to say.

This gym is extortionate for the service they offer. The facilities are terrible, and staff do very little to resolve any queries. You also can not invite a friend to join you unless they pay for a month upfront.

VivaGym will keep taking your money and make it hard to cancel

I had a similar experience as some of the people below. While staying in Barcelona for 2 weeks I signed up for a month-long membership, as it was relatively inexpensive and the gym had the equipment I needed and it worked out better than paying daily at some other gyms. I made it very clear to the staff that I only needed a month and not to extend it any further than that. This was in November. Now in February I am still being charged every month for this membership, even though I haven't been in Barcelona since mid-November. It was very difficult to cancel, and I am frankly not sure they won't charge me again in March. They should most certainly reimburse me for December through February, and need to stop charging people past the date they have requested their membership. How is this legal. Will be reaching out to a consumer protection agency next, if they don't resolve this matter.

Precautionar

I'm from the UK and attended Viva Gym, Via Augusta, in Barcelona for a couple of days when I was there for a weekend. When I was making the payment for two days, they convinced me to pay for the whole month, because they said it would turn out cheaper. I made it clear that I would be using the gym only for two days, but they turned it into a membership/Subscription and kept taking money from my account every month. I had to call the bank several times to cancel the direct debit and despite all assurance from the bank that this wouldn't happen again, they still managed to take another payment from my account. Currently, I'm in contact with my bank wasting time, money and energy .
I don't recommend this gym to anyone.
