Website.com of charging me without…
I chose Website.com a few years ago over competitors like Wix because it offered similar functionality at a more affordable price. The platform itself is easy to use, and for a long time I was genuinely happy with it. I even recommended it to other small business owners and helped them build their websites on the platform.
That changed this year because of how Website.com handled my billing and support experience.
After paying for an annual subscription, I received multiple auto-renewal notices. Because I had switched to a new credit card and hadn’t updated my payment information, I expected the renewal charge to fail and the subscription to lapse. I received three separate notifications stating that my payment could not be processed and that my membership would be forfeited if payment was not made by a specific date. That deadline came and went, I was not charged, and I reasonably believed my account was canceled based on their own messages.
Around 10 days later, I was unexpectedly charged anyway.
I contacted Website.com immediately, explained the situation, and requested a refund. They refused and offered only account credit, even though I no longer wanted to use the service. Based on past experiences with other companies, I then disputed the charge with my credit card.
When I filed the dispute with my credit card, the system forced me to choose from a limited set of options, and the closest one made it look as though I was accusing Website.com of charging me without providing any services. On paper, that option doesn’t exactly match what happened, but I chose it because there was no option that accurately described “you sent misleading emails about forfeiture and then charged me after the date you said you wouldn’t.” I was trying to be transparent: I shared the emails and details with both Website.com and my credit card company to explain my real issue. Website.com is now using that technical mismatch in the dispute category to claim I “lied,” and is holding that against me, even though my intent was to tell the truth and work within the limited dispute options I was given.
The dispute was ultimately decided in Website.com’s favor, and that’s when things became even more unreasonable.
Website.com is now refusing to provide service unless I pay an additional 25 dollars to cover the fee they say they were charged because I involved my credit card company. I even tried to compromise and asked them to simply deduct that 25 from the 164 dollars they had already taken and refund me the rest. I was told that their “billing company” was unwilling to work with me any further because I had opened a dispute with my card issuer.
All of this has been handled through a single customer service person, with no option to talk to a supervisor or anyone higher up. Yet this person talks about “the billing department” and “the billing company” as if there is a whole team, and has said that they are “not pleased with the situation,” which makes it feel personal rather than professional.
So at this point, Website.com is:
Keeping my 164 dollars,
Refusing to provide service unless I pay an extra 25 dollars,
Refusing to consider a reasonable compromise or partial refund,
And giving me no escalation path beyond one frontline support person.
To me, this comes across as petty and predatory business behavior. I went from being someone who actively recommended Website.com to other small businesses to someone who cannot in good conscience recommend them at all.
Misadvertising
The website owner (who I have the impression can clone into other staff-members!) was rude and I think this came from the direction of someone I know in my family as we've had our personal arguments - the company denied this. Shocking behaviour.
I found out as time went by that the limits on one's tiered usage were a lot more restrictive than their advertising made out.
Features-wise, customers are left drifting.
Overall, a beginner's introduction to website-formatting and page-designing and not a long-term professional solution.

Oh boy
Oh boy, where do I start? If you want people who are rude, crass, have a condescending tone and tenor with absolutely zero integrity, go here. Oh yeah, don't bother trying to get your money back either! There's a reason they have so many bad reviews, trust me.
Abominable experience.
This was the most abominable experience with an online vendor. Brandon was rude, condescending, and 100% unhelpful.

No service and no response
I purchased a lifetime Pro service. However, i show in the dashboard that i have no current plan. I contacted customer service. i got an automated response that they will response shortly. 6 days later, no response and no service. 300$ went to trash.

Website.com works just fine until you try to cancel your membership. I was with them for about two years but recently decided to have my domain name transferred. When I asked for the transfer code, they said that I owed them $20 or they wouldn't send the transfer code. I didn't think it was fair, but else could I do! So, after I paid the $20 dollars it was like I was signing up with them again. They used this trick to lock my domain, because you can't transfer a domain name unless you've been with a provider for more than 60 days. They got pissed because I was trying to cancel. But the main reason I was leaving was because of their customer service. I'm just putting this out here so others can be aware.
Impeccable Customer Support Today!
We have used website.com for some time now. And the customer support has always been good. But today, as we learned our nonprofit account is frozen we needed to reach out and get support with billing. Brandon was absolutely wonderful with supporting us. He was also very prompt.

Very disappointed with their domain service. I purchased a domain from website.com, but when I tried to change the nameservers, they asked me to pay an additional $20. This is totally unfair, no reputable hosting or domain provider charges extra just to change the nameservers. Every company I've used before allows free DNS updates after domain purchase. This feels like a hidden fee and poor business practice. I wouldn't recommend weebsite.com for domain purchases.

The ease of their site builder, and how wonderful their customer service was. I'm over the moon pleased!!!
I hate to give this honest review
I hate to give this honest review, but Website.com is the worst platform I have ever encountered. It's made for dummies who are not looking to compete in business.
Don't expect to be able to design a cool UX website as the functions are hardcore limited. You can't upload videos or images despite it reading that you have video space, etc.
Honestly, I am disgusted that I came across this platform, and it only happened because a Client is using it. I am in the process of saving their business by choosing a healthier alternative.
Let me save you the hassle. Stay away from this platform.
