Disgusting company who made a mistake and blamed us. Thousands of lots purchased a year at auction. Wouldn't recommend this company to anyone and we have dealt with most of them.

Never again

They deleted my previous review from trustpilot. I am writing again.
I won a lot on ibidder what was ok. But since this company took over after the payment.. they keep sending me invoices but they don't explain what i am paying after a week.. no information when i will receive the item. Or what is going on! Very confusing and i felt very unsafe all the way. After i saw them reviews.. made me more scared. The end a i received the parcel luckily but you can see reviews where people the didn't receive them item... never again !

Absolutely Fine

I sold some rare photographs worth hundreds through this auction house with no issues. Seems to me that all the poor reviews relate to buyers who have purchased a box of stuff without knowing what it is!!! Anyway, I would have no hesitation in using this company again.

I’m an experienced buyer that purchases hundreds of lots per week from various auctioneers.

William George had a lot that stated in the terms it could be collected, which appears to be a mistake as they say it now can’t be.

They wanted almost twice the cost to deliver it and when I declined as that makes no financial sense. Instead of refunding me, they blocked me.

Bought six lots through William George

Bought six lots through William George. This was a blind auction allegedly each lot would’ve been £200 RRP worth of products. To my dismay when I opened each box after being after received it was just cheap tat. Some of the items are not even worth a pound. Won’t be partaking I. This kind of auction again as it’s borderline fraud if I’m you ask me.

Awful experience

Awful experience. Asked for conformation of authenticity on a bid and received a rude response from a member of staff before being blocked. Never experienced anything like this from an auction house.

Rogue Auctioneers

As of Sat Oct 11 2025, I would like to bring to your attention an issue related to William George Auction involving certain individuals named Craig Wright and Gary Wild. These two individuals are involved in the sale of electrical components that are defective. I bought a POS machine and a desktop computer (Cost £138), which are defective and obsolete. The desktop itself looks like it was picked up from a landfill.

It is important to note that the quality and functionality of the items being sold by CrigbWright and Gary Wild at William George Auction do not meet the expected standards. Customers should exercise caution and perform thorough inspection or confirmation before purchasing any electrical components from them.

Please be wary of the potential risks associated with these individuals and their products. It is advisable to seek more reliable sources for your electronic needs to avoid being misled or encountering similar issues in the future.

Absolute Blaggers talk about economic with the truth

So I purchased a couple of boxes from the online auction which stated that they guaranteed each box had £200 worth of items in it . Had anyone have paid £20 for all the items in both the boxes you would have been heartbroken . What an absolute load of crap half the stuff's got labels written in Chinese stroke Japanese and probably isn't even past trade in standards in this country . It never shocks me the lengths that people will go to to steal money . Apparently the stuff was dispatched from a place called Glossop Auctions but as they were the people that dealt with the payment and the sale it's there for down to them . Save you money pop down to pound shop and buy yourself a 5 as well for stuff it's going to better quality ! Absolute Blaggers talk about economic with the truth

Bad, really bad

Bid and won a lot at William George via The Saleroom where the auctioneer's own description quoted a P&P price (from them) and their T&C's endorsed the method. But auctioneer refused to include P&P in the invoice / provide P&P themselves, required me to create an online account with them, and said I had to arrange P&P with the vendor.

NO, NO, NO! Not least as this removes the auctioneer from any liabilty regarding shipping. And I don't want an account with them either.

The auctioneer then argued and refused.

Ignore the negative comments, I found them GREAT!!!

Easy to use service, great response when asked about delivery and very fairly priced mail costs. Arrived the next day.

I've read some of the other reviews abvout poor service but this was NOT my experience. Having also bought "pallets of stuff" or liquidation stock from other auction houses, I too have been disappointed, but stop trying to make a quick £ thinking you're getting a bargain. The auction house is the processor, you need to review what is on offer and ensure you understand that some of the stuff you think you're buying may not work or be complete. If the auction house has resolved or refunded, at least provide positive feedback on their actions. THEY DO NOT PAT TEST ELECTRICAL ITEMS FOR YOU!!

Beware of pallets of 'unchecked…

Beware of pallets of 'unchecked returns'. I bought a pallet of 'unchecked' John Lewis returns that had any saleable items removed. It listed items that on arrival were damaged beyond repair - teapot with no lid, bin that was dented and used, torn and dirty bedding, pans with burnt on dirt, large/fragile items hard to send. They auction all the good stuff seperately themselves
