Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 29 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers express deep disappointment because the new formula completely changed the classic taste into something bland, unpleasant, and unrecognizable compared to the original recipe they enjoyed for decades. Many people report a weird, chemical or medicinal aftertaste, adding that the soda loses its carbonation much faster than before and tastes closer to plain club soda. Reviewers state they will completely stop purchasing the product and switch to alternative brands due to this drastic recipe change. However, some customers also noted practical problems regarding the physical bottles, mentioning difficulties with opening stubborn caps, missing production date stamps, and poorly positioned QR codes.

I wish i could give this 0 stars this sucks I need you to bring back lemon lime. Lime lemon is the worst and I will not drink 7 up if you dont change it. This is outrageous. I will drink anything but 7 up now. You can sell lime lemon but keep lemon lime to. It could just be another flavor. It used to be so good. Ehat did u do

This new 7up tastes awful

This new 7up tastes awful! The original was my go to soda, always hit just the right spot! This doesn't have the bite, I'm really very disappointed. I bought 4 cases, I'll return the 3 unopened. Too bad....

Maybe keep original 7up and sell the new bad tasting as maybe 7up flipped or something 7up2.0. Also everyone likes cherry 7up it always sells quickly and is not on shelves very long. Maybe make more and sell more of it instead of replacing with awful new flavor. Someone (you 7up) did not think this through very well.

Why did you change the formula

Why did you change the formula? It tastes horrible now, and has a chemical taste at the end. I will be switching back to Sprite, but bought and loved 7 up before this change. You lost a lifelong customer, please go back.

After several years I have stopped drinking 7UP

I have been drinking 7UP for several years. The past few cases I have thrown away due to a nasty taste. Then I did some research to discover they changed the formula about the same time frame the taste changed. I will not buy anymore. I guess I will transfer to Sprite. So sad the maker of 7UP changed their formula. You should not mess with what has worked forever.

You just lost a customer!

You just lost a customer!! I hate, ABSOLUTELY HATE, the new flavor!! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!! 🤮
What a terrible decision! I drank 7up because it DIDN'T taste like all the others - Sprite, Starry, etc. The taste you originally had was perfect and now you have ruined it!!

I wouldn’t even give it one star

I wouldn’t even give it one star, but it won’t let me give a comment about my experience. I just thought you guys changed the box. No big deal happens all the time advertisement but no you people went and changed the whole formulation of something that generations of people have loved. When are you companies ever going to learn? We knew it was different before you even put the little red circle on your box letting us know it was new. The taste of it is disgusting and it seems like there’s more than just me who feels that way manybfo. I think you made an infamous Cracker Barrel mistake. And I for one am not happy and going to go to Sprite.

This new recipe of 7up is so…

This new recipe of 7up is so disgusting. It’s a lot closer to club soda than 7up. As someone who buys 7up constantly and loves it more than any other pop, I am completely devastated. I will have to find something else to drink because this is horrible now. :(

Bought a pink lemonade and instantly knew they changed the ingredients at the first sip. I don’t know if they’re trying to compensate with the ‘bigger bottle’ it just tastes completely different. Won’t be buying again

It’s so nothing in taste that even Shasta Lemon-Lime is better. I’m taking back the unopened 12 packs I just picked up at Walmart.

Ruined another classic soda

This is your new product to compete better? With what? Sparkling water? There's almost zero taste. I read it's because younger drinkers prefer citrus. Is lemon NOT a citrus as well as lime? Sprite has always seemed sweeter and zero lemon taste, so why not stay put 7Up? This has been my go-to drink for years. I don't care for Sprite, and I wasn't nuts about Sierra Mist, but your Starry roll out was almost as bad. Leave the tried and true ALONE! I've got 2 words for you -- NEW COKE!

Used 7 up for more than 50 yrs

I have been a long time user of 7up. I totally dislike the LIME lemon formula. I will NOT be buying 7up any more. I think it was a BAD idea to go ahead and change the formula without even taking a survey. I've always followed the motto "if it's not broke, don't fix it", I am thoroughly disappointed in management for making this change!

The new 7up sux

The new 7up tastes like flat, watered down something…the tang is GONE. It’s astonishing that after all the bad reactions to corporate morons ruining everything from bud light, to Cracker Barrel, to Tapatio, to nike that corporate executives at 7up would think it a great idea to destroy an iconic brand with an iconic flavor. 7up drinkers are going to hate this flavor, guaranteed. Talk about not understanding your customer base. Boycott and petition. Blast their social media.
