Acura doesn't care about recalls

My 8th Honda/Acura product, and my last. 2023 Integra has been the least reliable car I have ever owned--more problems in 38k miles than the other 7 Honda/Acura vehicles combined.
Worse, the only dealer in the state is either incompetent or dishonest. A safety recall was not accomplished properly, was fraudulently cleared in the NHTSA database, and a random MDX tail light part number added to the invoice to make it look legit. It did to me at first until I realized the steering hadn't been fixed and looked up the part number.
American Honda took zero responsibility and did nothing except insist they had seen photographic proof that the correct part was installed. They refused to share claimed proof of course.
Brand loyalty means nothing. Safety recalls are not taken seriously. Customer service is insulting.
What kind of company leaves a customer with an unsafe vehicle to save a few hundred bucks?
Unloading this unsupported lemon as soon as I fix the defective steering for which the government issued the safety recall--on my own dime.

Three Battery Replacements in Four Years Unresolved Acura MDX safety issue

We are so disappointed with the level of support received from Acura Canada regarding an ongoing battery issue with our 2023 Acura MDX.

We purchased this vehicle in September 2022, and since then, we have had to replace the battery three times. Including the first year of purchasing the car. For a vehicle that is four years old, this is not reasonable and strongly suggests an underlying issue rather than normal wear.

Our experience at the Dilawri dealership level was unhelpful, dismissive and lame was put on us. Instead of properly diagnosing the root cause, the issue was attributed to us and our usage. We were told that:

* Our driving habits (short trips) were to blame
* Our garage gate/door could be causing the battery drain, suggesting that any modern vehicle with sensors that go by our vehicle would drain the battery
* Other brands such as BMW and Mini Cooper have even worse battery problems. We do not have any experience driving these cars and this was brought to our attention by the Dilawri Manager on the North Shore

These explanations did not address the actual issue and were not supported by any independent mechanics or advice we sought. In fact, neighbours and co-workers confirmed that needing three battery replacements in four years is not normal and indicates an underlying parasitic drain.

We attempted to escalate the issue beyond the dealership and contacted the Dilawri group directly after receiving no resolution locally. Unfortunately, no one from Dilawri responded to us at all, leaving us without support or direction.

Despite informing Acura Canada of this, we were still repeatedly advised to return to the dealership or seek another dealer opinion. This approach has not led to any resolution or meaningful progress.

At no point was there:

* Escalation to a regional service manager
* Assistance coordinating a proper diagnostic
* Investigation into repeated battery failures
* Consideration of reimbursement or goodwill support

We were not seeking mechanical advice—we were seeking support from the manufacturer after the standard process failed. There is a huge safety issue concern as couple of times we were stranded on the road with small children.

While communication from Acura Canada was prompt, it did not translate into action. The responses remained the same despite explaining that dealership escalation and group-level contact had already failed.

This experience has been frustrating, costly, and time-consuming.
For a premium brand, it is disappointing to feel both blamed for the issue and unsupported in resolving it.

We hope Acura Canada takes meaningful steps to improve how it handles repeated, unresolved vehicle concerns, particularly when customers have already followed all recommended processes without success.

This issue is no longer just an inconvenience—it has become a safety concern, as we have experienced situations where the vehicle failed to start and we were left stranded, including with small children, due to repeated battery failures with no clear resolution provided.

For a premium vehicle still under warranty, we expected a higher standard of support, accountability, and proper diagnosis when the same issue continues to occur. Instead, we were left without resolution, despite multiple attempts through all available channels.

Acura Experience

I have always trusted the Honda brand, and Acura in particular, for the reliability of their vehicles. While I still agree with that reputation, the experience changes completely if you are involved in an accident.
I had an accident on 3/14 and informed the Acura call center the same day. They told me no further information was needed. My insurance company found a body shop, and all parts were ordered by 3/19. However, a couple of weeks later, I was informed that one of the parts is on backorder, and the body shop has been unable to get any information from Acura.
I have personally contacted customer service to try to get an update, but after three emails and three calls over the last two weeks, I still have no information on when I will be able to use my car again. This process should not be this difficult. It is disappointing to be forced to drive a rental car for two months of a 24-month lease because of a lack of communication and parts availability!!!

I went to buy a Acura RDX and got robbed.

I went to buy a Acura RDX. I explained that I wanted to pay with cash. I asked about a lease and they ran with it. I thought I could change it for a newer one and they screwed me. Acura of Brooklyn locked me in a contract. I one I got from them was not New. I went somewhere else. And Paragon I explained what happened and they got me again. They are making me pay for two cars. My payment will pay over a hundred thousand dollars. My payment is 1420 a month.

Just left with utter disappointment

This review is specifically meant to describe my experience with Cerritos.Acura of California.

I had a very disappointing experience with Cerritos Acura. I was quoted a specific price via text message, which I confirmed before making the trip. Based on that written quote, I drove roughly 70 miles to the dealership.
Once there, I spent time with the vehicle, test drove it, and genuinely fell in love with the car. Only after investing all that time did the dealership suddenly change the deal and add an additional $1,000 that was never mentioned in the original quote.
This felt like a classic bait-and-switch situation. If the price was not accurate, that should have been disclosed upfront—especially before asking a customer to travel such a long distance. Changing the deal at the last minute wasted my time and felt dishonest.
I would strongly advise anyone considering Cerritos Acura to get everything in writing and be cautious, as the final numbers may not match what you’re initially quoted.

Many problems with my Acura RDX 2021

Many problems with my Acura RDX 2021. First the rooftop was misaligned, the motor had error codes due to required updates, which led to lost of acceleration and some times, accelaration without touch the pedal, and finally, failure of the solenoids which led to the continuous loss of the AWD.. and all of this under 80,000km of usage.

Never had a vehicule with so many deficiences and lack of quality. Ohh and to add to this, they tighten the galiper bolt so much that I had to go to the garage just to loosen them so I can replace the brakes.... shitty built!

I would not recommend buying an Acura.

Make sure your car comes with a spare tire

I purchased a 2021 RDX from Vandergriff Acura in Arlington, TX without knowing it did not come with a spare tire. On 8/9/25 - three DAYS after Acura Care expired - I had to have the car towed to the dealership for a tire replacement. This is the 4th Acura I have purchased, and the third from this dealership. Apparently customer loyalty is unappreciated, because they are refusing to refund my towing fee.

Avoid Leasing or Purchasing an…

Avoid Leasing or Purchasing an Acura—Especially the Acura ZDX

I strongly advise against leasing or purchasing an Acura vehicle, particularly the Acura ZDX. I leased my ZDX in October, and in December, I was the victim of a hit-and-run accident. Since then, my car has been sitting in a body shop with no clear timeline for repair, as both Acura and Honda have been unable to provide the necessary parts.

It is absolutely unacceptable that their parts are so severely backordered, and neither company can offer any solution other than placing me on a never-ending waiting list. Instead of taking responsibility, they continuously pass customers back and forth with no real assistance. There are no managers available to speak with, and customer service is abysmal—relying on generic, scripted responses rather than genuinely addressing the issue.

Meanwhile, I am still required to pay my lease payments, in addition to covering the cost of a rental car, with no financial assistance from Acura or Honda. They refuse to pause my lease or provide a loaner vehicle—despite the fact that this entire issue stems from their inability to supply the necessary parts.

To make matters worse, my dealership has been equally unhelpful. Rallye Acura in Long Island initially promised assistance only after I left a few negative reviews, but after a single phone call, they completely stopped responding.

If you are considering an Acura, think twice. Their lack of accountability, poor customer service, and failure to support their customers make them a brand to avoid at all costs. And if you’re in the Long Island, NY area—stay far away from Rallye Acura.

Absolutely horrible customer service

Absolutely horrible customer service, called to try to work out payment agreement as I was getting behind on my lease due to personal issues. They wouldnt work with me, so I said fine repo it cause I could no longer afford the payments.
(I worked for Acura for 6 years always had a car through them, they sold the dealership to someone who got there own people and fired everyone, so I had to start making payments with out the lease allowance) so the screwed me and my
Family. Anyways took them 3 months to take the car. I didnt receive any phone calls except for one from a very scetchy person left a message you must call me immediately or else then they went even further and stalked me online to find out who my best friend was and called them to find out if they could find me and told my best friend that I had a warrant out for my arrest and then questioned if I was still living with my girlfriend whos now my wife
Like how did they know that looking up personal information thats none of their damn business. When I called back this sketchy person, she was a complete *** and continued to be sketchy and said we cannot find your vehicle.
Where is it or I will send a police officer to come and arrest you please lady I know every cop in this town and they know me on good notes. She said that they would come out the next day to come get the car and they have yet to do it.
Completely sketchy service sketchy people dont bother. Car is not worth it.

Terrible customer service by dealerships and by corporate.

Buyers beware - even if you like one of their vehicles, know that their customer service at dealerships and at corporate are constant tones of belittling and pushing blame and not willing to help. They've had multiple recalls on my car and dealership only contacted me to come in for an engine recall after a half year of the engine recall date. Coincidentally, only after my warranty was expired. They lied for months about when my car would be done, and it ended up being held up for 4-5 months. From there, multiple issues arised and more damages on my car, which all happened under their engine recall service (obviously, as I suddenly had issues as soon as I picked up my car and damages). I refused pick up multiple times due to their poor work. They referred me to corporate and after weeks of no contact they denied any need for them to help or do anything, that costs would be my own fix (when in reality, it was under their scope of engine recall and their liability). They have automated emails to sound sincere, but in reality, will not reach back and answer any phone calls. Complete waste of time and extremely rude customer service. I'm baffled that customer service all around had gone downhill as soon as my warranty expired.

Unless you simply love the vehicle and do not care for the mishaps later on, go ahead. However, after having multiple vehicles at Acura, I can comfortably say I will never purchase an Acura vehicle again (let alone all their recalls anyway).

So I purchased an Acura MDX in June of 24 a hit n run accident damaged the car and windshield . I have been without this vehicle due to supply chain issues with Acura it’s now October and I still don’t have my car. They never offered a loaner or to help pay your note anything to help you since it’s not your fault about the supply chain. I regret purchasing this car and I’m still having to get rides, still pay the note and insurance. The model is a 2022 .. good luck to you if you damage your windshield. They have no answer for you other than keep giving you false ETA’s then that date come and it’s set back again . The least they could do is offer a loaner to me. SMH .. regrets!

Avoid Acura of Tempe at all cost

Avoid Acura of Tempe at all cost.

Shady sales tactics, originally, I was offered 8% APR on a used vehicle, then called back into the office a week later, stating the loan had fallen through.

The new APR was 13.75% and they tacked on an additional 10k for the finance charge. At this point I had already decided I wanted to keep the vehicle.

I would never recommend this place for a first-time buyer, and I do not plan to use them as a trade-in in the future. The air-filter I got on the engine and cabin was filthy and I was charged to have it replaced.

I've contacted Acura directly, who told me to go to the GM, I've sent an email to the GM and have yet to hear back weeks later.

The sales person also insulted my girlfriend while I was there which I didn't catch until afterwords.

It was the absolutely worse experience…

It was the absolutely worse experience I’ve had in my life. Had 2021 RDX with blown engine and only 74,000 KM. Both Southview Acura and West side Acura were absolutely horrible. They went out of their way to make things more difficult for us. We wanted to trade RDX on another car rather than spending $15,000 to have her fixed. Southview offered me $10,000 for trade and West side would give me 16,000 for trade. The used engine to replace blown engine cost $5500 and they were going to charge us $9,000 for the exact same engine. They basically gauge customers off with inflating the amount they charge you. The most unprofessional dealership I’ve ever dealt with. Rude, sarcastic staff at both Acura branches. Charged me $187 for oil filter when the same filter at NAPA was $11. Had to have RDX towed from West side to Southview as that was the dealership who had the car we wanted to buy. Car was towed back to Southview without the license plate. In order to cancel the plate number and get a new plate, I had to file a report with the police. They had no reason to remove license plate in the first place. I swear they did stupid crap like this just to make getting a new car more difficult. Both Acura branches basically hate each other. Both would bad mouth each other straight out to the customer. I traded the RDX on a 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and finally this nightmare that’s been ongoing since April has come to an end. My Mitsubishi is in my garage. I do not recommend anyone to buy an Acura vehicle. Buyer beware!!!!!

Acura TL has parasitic drain

I had an Acura TL 2005 that had a parasitic drain, among many other issues. I had to spend a ton of money fixing the car and buying new batteries. Acura claims their cars do not have a parasitic drain, which is entirely false. Now there is a class action lawsuit against Acura and I submitted my proof of payment for all the batteries, but they want to deny my claim. Stay away from Acuras as they are not good cars, and the company will do everything they can to get out of accountability. I’d rate 0/5 if I could. I will never buy an Acura again, and will warn anyone who mentions the possibility of buying one. Acura is not a good company, and they produce 💩 cars. Save yourself some money and don’t buy an Acura.

We purchased a 2023 Acura MDX from Hall Acura with several issues; the main one being that the vehicle is very jerky on and off cruise. We told them what was and still is going on with the vehicle, but they gave lame excuses. It's probably transmission problems that they refuse to acknowledge. We have also read other reviews about the jerky drivetrain. We talked to the service manager with nothing resolved. It was a huge waste of time. Because we did not agree with their answers that they were pulling out of the air, and they did not like our responses, they asked us to use a different Acura dealership.....classic action of denial. They never once asked us to leave the vehicle there so they could see what the problem was. DO NOT BUY AN ACURA MDX; ITS JUNK. And definitely do not go to this dealership; the customer service sucks.

Seeking Resolution - Rosenthal Acura, Gaithersburg, MD Service Feedback

Seeking Resolution - Rosenthal Acura, Gaithersburg, MD Service Feedback

I've been a dedicated Rosenthal Acura customer for over two decades, having relied on them for servicing my Acura TSX and RDX. However, I must express my deep concern regarding the current state of their service department. It's evident that the quality has significantly declined since the onset of the pandemic, potentially due to changes in management and personnel. The esteemed Rosenthal Acura name is all that remains.

Regrettably, the standard of repairs provided is far from satisfactory. Their mechanics seem limited in their ability to diagnose and rectify issues beyond basic service requirements. Comprehensive post-repair checks or test drives on vehicles appear to be omitted. Additionally, the treatment from personnel leaves much to be desired, and obtaining a loaner car after repeated service failures necessitates escalating the matter to the facility director.

Rather than relying on experienced mechanics, they seem to rely solely on scanner-generated codes for repairs. This approach lacks accountability, and there have been no apologies for their mistakes. My attempts to engage with the Acura regional manager have been met with silence, and interactions are avoided.

Here's the chronicle of my ordeal:

1. **Initial Repair** - July 10-13, 2023 (3 days): Diagnosis and spark plug and coil replacement on the 4th cylinder.
2. **Post-repair Issues** - July 13-18, 2023: Unforeseen shaking and motor noises.
3. **Second Repair** - July 18-August 12, 2023 (26 days): Extensive timing chain, guides, arm, tensioner, seals replacement, and Fakra cables.
4. **Post-repair Issues** - August 12-14, 2023: Immediate oil pressure light and all service lights warnings, car shakes upon startup, stalls.
5. **Third Repair** - August 13-19, 2023 (8 days): VTC Valve replaced due to DTC P2651 Rocker Arm Oil Control System "B" stuck off/switch circuit high voltage.
6. **Post-repair Issues** - August 19-26, 2023: Persistent car shaking, electrical issues, battery indicator lit, car cranks but doesn't start while lights are operational. Discovered air intake left detached post previous repair.
7. **Fourth Repair** - August 27-September 2, 2023 (7 days): Resecured the fuel pump ground and installed a new air intake.
8. **Post-repair Issues** - September 2-5, 2023: Intensified shaking, difficulties in shifting gears, all service lights back on, car stalls repeatedly.
9. **Fifth Repair** - September 5-October 1, 2023 (27 days): Acura requested all non-Acura service receipts, presented $5098 estimate, later reduced to $2371.66, for cylinder head gasket replacement.

My vehicle has spent a total of 71 days in their service since July 10, 2023, with each return in a worse state than before.

A particularly concerning instance was when I realized that my vehicle had been returned to me on August 27, 2023, with the air intake visibly detached. It makes me question what else was not properly attached. My car stalled and had to be towed back to the dealership. Please refer to the attached video.

The latest issue is the $2371.66 estimate for cylinder head gasket replacement. I firmly believe that this expense must be fully covered under Rosenthal Acura's repair warranty.

I've requested the involvement of the regional Acura manager, urged Acura corporate to send their own mechanic for reevaluation, and demanded full coverage of the cylinder head gasket repair resulting from their errors.

Furthermore, the current condition of my four-year-old Acura RDX 2019 falls far short of the luxury and reliability I anticipated from the Acura brand and Rosenthal Acura's service. Regrettably, I can no longer endorse the Acura brand to those seeking dependable luxury cars and service.

In conclusion, I implore you to reconsider subjecting yourself to the frustration and disappointment I've endured with Rosenthal Acura's service. Superior, more professional, and cost-effective alternatives are available elsewhere.

I would give no stars if possible. My 2022 MDX type S was hit in the rear 6 months ago .I am still waiting on parts from ACURA they keep pushing parts back a month at a time. How is it they still drop new cars but cant get parts for mine?! I went from ranked #1 on the list to just a general email every 30 days stating a new arrival date for parts. Well see next month what they say. The dealer i originally took it to couldn't even find the issue they told me all was fine, until they magically found a bent steering knuckle that im still waiting on to this day today. Worst experience with a new car DO NOT BUY A NEW ACURA.
