Unprofessional stuff
Just imagine: you land at 10:30, but the luggage of about 40 people is lost. You think, why is the line not moving? Just 8 people are in front. At 11:42, you understand why. Poor 20-40 people behind. I don't know who hired that lady who literally typed with 1 middle finger! No chairs, zero comfort for people who are experiencing bad service. They are not even trying!
Great experience from Austin to Seattle…
Great experience from Austin to Seattle from check in through baggage pickup. Seats on the plane were great. Best flight experience in years.
I purchased a premium seat row 8 with…
I purchased a premium seat row 8 with my children and grandchildren for 7 of us. I realize that the weather was bad and the flight took 15 hours, but the crew was nasty and not friendly at all. I purchased meals ahead of time, but they could not serve them because of the delays. I did not get my money back, and they offered us some crappy snacks instead. My ganddaughter had to use the bathroom badly and went to use the first class bathroom as it was close but was told to go to the back of the plane. I saw other people use the bathroom but she was not allowed. The flight attendants were not professional. Then, to top off this terrible flight, when we land in San Diego, we had to wait on the plane for over 30 minutes before we could get to the gate. Also the first time we got on the plane at JFK the plane was extremly hot. We spent 2 hours on a hot plane waiting for takeoff that did not happen as we went back to the hanger. I don't think I will fly Alaskan Ailines every again
Shoddy airline - not recommended
I've seen online sources claiming that Alaska is the best U.S. airline, but I have to assume those folks have never actually flown on Alaska. We are currently stuck in the Seattle airport for over 6 hours, because our Alaska flight from SFO to Seattle was delayed over an hour, and Alaska made no effort to accommodate passengers whose connections would be at risk. We landed in Seattle and raced to the gate for our connecting flight to Victoria, BC, only to be told that "boarding is closed," even though the plane had not yet left the terminal. The gate agent also said no one had called ahead to ask that the connecting flight be held for a few minutes, then referred us to Guest Services. Guest Services staff were very polite, but could offer no solution other than the next connecting flight -- 6 hours later! We will avoid flying Alaska in the future.
They disregarded my family emergency…
They disregarded my family emergency and insisted on enforcing their idiotic policy of giving half of my paid air fare in the form of travel credit. It is laughable, pathetic and disgusting. I travelled on their flights a few times and was never expecting their demonstration of stupidity at this low level. All my friends and colleagues will be warned.
They through out a God fearing woman…Whitney Lynn
They through out a God fearing woman out of the plane and permanently banned because she was speaking about Jesus. I know they had to be believers in Jesus in the plain but no one stood up for her. I will never use this airline if you through people out for their beliefs. He wanted to help people by introducing Jesus to them. Smh
This is what a nightmare looks like.
During a 3-1/2 hr layover, they switched the gate for the flight from A5 to S6 a total of 6 times, each time requiring 2 tram rides and 2 escalators. They canceled the flight 1 minute before it was due to be boarded. Bus shuttles between Seattle and Winatchee were sold out.
Terrible customer service and horrible prices for inter island
I am so sad about the quality of both Alaska and Hawaiian airlines. Both used to be great airlines. Hawaiian in particular was known for great customer service and reasonable prices on inter island flights. I was born and raised in Hawaii and have been flying Hawaiian for many years. I also have many friends and family members who used to work for Hawaiian. Unfortunately, after the buyout by Alaska everything has changed. Customer service is essentially nonexistent. Flight prices are now ridiculously expensive. I understand that things are becoming more expensive but it seems like Alaskan airlines is just super greedy now. I booked an interisland flight for 3 from Kauai to Oahu round trip, it cost over $300 per person and then I had to pay another $100+ dollars just to pick a seat! That’s ridiculous cost just to fly 20 mins. On top of that I tried to change my flight to a later time and was told I can’t because those were the “saver” prices. How the heck is a near $500 round trip ticket to fly to Oahu a “saver” price? I pay that much to fly round trip to California. Do yourself a favor and fly southwest. Way cheaper and sadly much better customer service. I hate what the merger has done to my previous favorite airline but Alaska has totally turned Hawaiian airlines into a joke.
I have never been so disappointed with…
I have never been so disappointed with Alaska Airlines. We booked three Premium Class seats months in advance and paid approximately $450 extra specifically because we were traveling with two small children, including a lap infant.
When we checked in, we discovered that Alaska had moved us from row 15 Premium Class to row 32, literally the back of the plane, without notifying us.
After spending a significant amount of time on the phone trying to understand what happened, we were told there had been an aircraft change and our original seats were now considered an exit row, which we could not occupy with a lap infant. I completely understand the safety requirement. What I do NOT understand is why we weren’t moved to another Premium Class row. We had already paid for Premium seating. Instead, other passengers were seated in Premium while our family was sent to the back of the plane.
We were told that Alaska only guarantees a seat, not a specific seat. But we didn’t pay an additional $450 for three specific seat numbers. We paid $450 for Premium Class.
What makes this even worse is that Alaska did not automatically refund the $450 after downgrading us. We only received our money back because we noticed the seat change ourselves, called, complained, and requested the refund.
Traveling with two small children is already stressful. We planned months ahead and paid significantly more specifically to make the flight more manageable. Finding out at check in that those plans meant essentially nothing was incredibly frustrating.
An aircraft change may explain why we couldn’t keep our original seats. It does not explain why Alaska couldn’t protect the Premium Class product we had already purchased, why we were moved all the way to the last row, why we weren’t notified, or why our money wasn’t automatically refunded.
This experience completely changed the way I view Alaska Airlines and how much trust I can put in an advance seat purchase
Alaska Airlines don't like Christians…
Alaska Airlines don't like Christians and if you start talking about Jesus Christ they throw you off the plane
Purchases 3 tickets for the family and…
Purchases 3 tickets for the family and one of the passengers were not able to make the flight. Was not able to get a refund by their rules. That’s fine but when I got on the flight they resold the other ticket so instead of having a spare seat they resold the ticket. Won’t be flying Alaska airlines anymore.
Poor Customer Service
I was traveling with my family and I spent extra for the seats so we could all sit together. In this particular aircraft, for some reason, the seats were offset and so we were not right by each other and I asked the flight attendant what we could do so my child was not on an aisle seat not with the rest of us. The flight attendant was very flippant and said that it didn't matter and that I should relax. Or that I could ask the OTHER family to switch. No solutions, no compassion, even though we paid extra and it is their website design that created the problem. I emailed customer service to hopefully show them an error in their planning for families and maybe get an apology. I did not ask for a refund. I was told that I was not due a refund and the case was being closed. That was it. The customer service on the plane, in the office, everywhere is awful and I will not be flying them again. It is worth paying more for a company that is not awful.
Too many carry on bags
One person at check in. Finally a second person arrives. Huge roller bags and back packs being crammed into overhead bins. Numerous customers with roller bags plus huge back backs and huge purse. WTF.
Nightmare Experience
Alaska Airline did me wrong. I have MS and I had a beer before attempting to board my flight. They stopped me and said I smell like alcohol and refused to let me board. I ended up having to get a hotel for $400 and leave early the next morning. I called them to get reimbursed and they flat out refused. So to make a very long story short the baggage check lady diagnosed my MS as having to many beers, ruined my vacation and cost me over $500. Thanks Doctor baggage check lady
They made us wait in the plane for over…
They made us wait in the plane for over an hour. No ac . No water. While they fueled the plane. Why not do that before we got on the plane. Horrible experience. Loud noice gave me a headache while I was waiting. And a two hr delay. Never again
Two Cups of Water Was Apparently Too Much to Ask
Very disappointing experience on Alaska Airlines flight AS120 from Incheon to Seattle on July 12.
Because of a delayed connection, I didn’t have time to buy water before boarding. The plane sat on the runway for about 20 minutes before takeoff. I asked for water while we were waiting but was told I couldn’t have any. After takeoff, I asked again and was told to wait for beverage service. By the time drinks were finally served, I had gone nearly 90 minutes without any water.
When the drinks finally arrived, I politely asked for two cups of water because I was extremely thirsty. Flight attendant Anna refused, saying she could only give me one cup and that I would have to wait until she came back later. I wasn’t asking for a bottle—just one extra cup of water on a long-haul international flight.
I’ve flown many long-haul flights with airlines like ANA and Korean Air, and I’ve never experienced anything like this. Basic access to drinking water should never be an issue, especially after passengers have already been waiting so long.
Long flight? Skip Alaska Airlines.
If you ever wondered what other airlines do with all of their older planes, they clearly send them to Alaska Airlines. You’re essentially flying a budget airline for the price of a premium ticket. Plane was cramped and had no frills whatsoever. Less than ideal conditions for a long flight from Anchorage to Boston.
My experience with Alaska Airlines was…
My experience with Alaska Airlines was extremely disappointing—not because of the mechanical issue itself, but because of how the airline handled it.
Our aircraft was grounded due to a wheel problem, and all passengers were asked to deplane. I understand that safety must always come first, and I appreciate that the airline chose not to take unnecessary risks.
Unfortunately, everything that followed was handled poorly.
An Alaska Airlines representative rebooked me from my original itinerary, which was scheduled to arrive around 3:30 p.m., to the last flight of the night, changing my arrival time to approximately midnight. When I questioned the change, I was told to go to the standby gate in Seattle because they could not change my reservation back to the earlier flight, but the gate agents there would be able to help.
I followed those instructions exactly. When I arrived at the standby gate, I discovered that Alaska Airlines had not completed the reservation correctly, and I still could not board an earlier flight. I was forced to remain on the last flight of the night because of the airline’s mistake.
While I was trying to resolve the issue with a gate agent, another employee who identified himself as the supervisor interrupted our conversation and began having a personal discussion with the agent while I was standing there waiting for assistance. It was disrespectful and incredibly frustrating to be ignored while trying to solve a problem created by the airline. When I expressed my frustration, the supervisor simply told me to go to Customer Service elsewhere in the terminal instead of allowing the agent to continue helping me.
Fortunately, I eventually met Cesar at Customer Service. He was, without question, the most professional, courteous, and helpful employee I encountered that day. He listened, understood the situation, and genuinely worked to help resolve it. Cesar deserves recognition for providing the level of customer service every Alaska Airlines employee should strive to deliver.
Mechanical problems happen, and passengers understand that. What is much harder to accept is poor communication, conflicting information, lack of follow-through, and employees who seem unwilling or unable to solve problems. Instead of taking ownership, I was sent from one employee to another while my travel plans continued to deteriorate.
Passengers deserve to be treated with respect and should be able to rely on the airline to honor the transportation they purchased or provide competent assistance when disruptions occur. My experience fell far short of that expectation.
With the exception of Cesar, every interaction I had left me feeling that customer service was not a priority. Alaska Airlines should invest in better communication, employee training, and empowering frontline staff to resolve customer issues instead of passing passengers from one desk to another.
Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Alaska Airlines. Safety should never be compromised, but neither should customer service. An airline is judged not by whether problems occur, but by how it treats its passengers when they do. Unfortunately, Alaska Airlines failed that test.
