Today i had the pleasure and joy of speaking with Aditi, who went above and beyond creating a Picasso style image to assist me in measuring up my box bay window and keeping it in style with the other shutters previously ordered in my house. I could not fault the customer service from herself, i wish they were all like that!

Excellent shutters. Its worth the wait for these to arrive once the measurements are sent in. Used this company twice now and both times shutters fit perfectly, very good quality and arrived when they said they would. Three sets of shutters all perfect and takes about an hour each to install. My only criticism is that when the boxes arrive (which are very well packed) there ate no contents or instructions included. If you want to see how they are fitted you have to look at videos on their website.....could be a bit unnerving for inexperienced DIY's but in the end fitting is very easy. Would definitely use again.

The ordering was easy to use and whilst it took a couple of months to get the shutters, now they are installed we are very happy. High quality at very competitive prices.

California Shutters - Extremely Disappointing Customer Service

Today is 3 August 2026, and my issue with California Shutters has just been closed with me approx £350 out of pocket - I’d rather go to another company than ever use them again

I first contacted them on 20 July 2026 after discovering that the shutters I had ordered were not fit for purpose. Although the measurements were correct, the shutters would not stay in place using the supplied brackets. More importantly, no handle recesses had been cut into the shutters, meaning the windows could not be opened or closed.

Since then, there have been seven emails exchanged, and I have provided every photograph and piece of information requested. Despite repeatedly highlighting the issue with the missing handle recesses, I received an email today stating:

"The factory have confirmed that they have been measured correctly and made correctly. This seems to be an issue with the brackets. The factory will be sending out new brackets for you."

There was no mention whatsoever of the handle issue, which is a fundamental problem. There is little point in fitting shutters securely if the windows behind them cannot be operated.

It took 11 working days to reach this conclusion, and throughout that period the customer service has been appalling. Every time I have called, I have been told that someone is busy, that they are sorry for the delay, and that they will call me back. Not once has a promised callback happened. I have always been the one having to chase for updates.

I was then told they could find no note of me asking for the handle recesses - which is strange because I measured the handle locations on the order - They would not take the 2 panels back but said I had to place a new order and they’d give me the standard 40% discount they have been giving out anyway!! They have reimbursed me £100 - I am approx £350 out of pocket

What should have been a straightforward resolution has instead become weeks of delays, poor communication, and being repeatedly fobbed off. The customer service department were useless - if I had not chased up every email and initiated every call I would still be waiting for answers now - the standard answer was always “someone will call before 17:30 - and they never ever did
Based on my experience, I would strongly advise potential customers to think carefully before ordering from this company.

Really easy process, from measuring to fitting. I ordered on the 11th July and received today! Brilliant service.
The shutters are weighty and of a good quality. They fit like a glove, and now make my barn look so chic!
My garden is South facing and with this hot weather my living room has been a little warm even with the thick walls . After fitting the blinds I can notice a difference, but I haven't had to compromise on light.
The windows are draughty in Winter so I know these blinds are going to help with this too.
I only ordered two blinds to begin with, just in case I was disappointed. Not in the slightest, totally the opposite.
I'm so pleased with my purchase. The delivery was great too. Now for the bedrooms.

Amazing sales, and the blinds are of excellent quality. Compared to other companies which we have had the quality is exactly the same without the price tag.

Firstly the website is informative and intuitive in placing an order efficiently. Any questions or help needed were quickly answered by the telephone help which is maned by knowledgeable, polite and enthusiastic team. The wait time for the hardwood shutters was clearly stated and delivery was achieved on time. The shutters are a super quality product and were well packaged and coded to identify left and right installations. Fitting was easy and look excellent when fitted. However one important and avoidable issue in the preparation to fitting is the lack of any reference to the fitting elements contained in each of the boxes for each shutter. I consider myself a competent DIY person but when confronted with the contents of these fitting boxes it was impossible to understand the function of some items and the importance in the fitting process. I had to contact the help line to determine the application of some of the items. The help assistant clarified most items and some that were not relevant to the fitting process but this did take some time. I mentioned that this could be completely rectified and save time and confusion for both the customer and California Shutters if they invested in a simple "Un Boxing" video in general and the fittings box in particular. This would be consistent with there general desire to provide an excellent product and great customer experience. Essential as your product is sold for self assembly.

Really good prices and excellent quality products. I was especially satisfied with their customer service department. Amy responded to me quickly for a query I had, and was extremely helpful

The shutters are extremely well made and were supplied exactly to the measurements that I had given.
They were relatively easy to fit and look really solid and very attractive.
My only criticisms would be the lack of any written installation instructions and the long delivery delay, but overall they were well worth the wait.

We ordered a shutter 2 years ago, we were so impressed by the quality and the easy installation, so we ordered the rest to complete the house. Great shutters and great service.

Great product, easy to fit and look great. Have ordered twice and although take a while to come, you are advised on this, but only after order has been placed. But then kept up to date with progress. The size you order is bang on accurate, so might want to order a few mm smaller so no issues when fitting.

Customer service was second to none, they were so helpful when I spoke to them about my awkward windows in my old Victorian house. Shutters arrived earlier than expected and the delivery driver was so lovely.

We were super pleased with the quality and ease of putting them up, at first we were looking for the instructions manically but everything is online so make sure you realise like this. Once up they finished the room of beautifully and we are beyond pleased with them. Would definitely use this company again when we buy another house. We are sold! Thank you California shutters ☺️
