Founded in 1872 and born from the co-operative movement, co-operative values continue to be a fundamental part of everything we do.
In 1992, we were the UK’s first bank to introduce a customer-led Ethical Policy, which empowers us to make a real positive difference to the world around us. We believe it's our duty to stand up for the issues that matter to our customers and which bind our colleagues, customers and partner organisations together.Because unlike a lot of businesses, we haven’t just developed an ethical approach — we’ve had one from the very start.

I have been with the Co-operative Bank since 2008 and they’ve been the best bank I’ve ever banked with since the problems I was having with my Previous Bank (Yorkshire Bank 20 plus years )who were being bought out at the time and as I’d raised a dispute with them through the Financial Ombudsman who were no better by the way. Their customer service went out the window and their treatment was appalling. So I decided to switch banks and after looking around I decided on the Co- operative Bank purely on how friendly courteous and professional their customer service is. They’ve saved my bacon a few times as I’m a bit of a technophobe and when I phone them up it’s so nice to hear a friendly up beat voice every time and the service I receive is second to none both on the phone and in branch so keep up the good work as you’re the best Bank in the UK bar none 🙂
I had a specific issue on which I wanted advice. Debra Pugh, of the Coop Bank branch in Crewe, contacted me by phone at the agreed time. She helped me navigate the choices offered by Coop Bank to meet my needs. On one point on which she was uncertain she sought advice from a colleague who had specialist expertise, and she was able to clarify the matter. In regard to my issue Debra undertook to send me relevant online links to the Coop Bank website to advance the steps I need to take, and hard copy documentation covering some of the points. She then reviewed my accounts and helpfully provided me with a timely reminder of options open to me regarding my Coop ISA. On basis of her thorough advice I was happy to ask for and secure a 'fix' for my ISA saving account for a further year. Debra was friendly, had an engaging manner and dealt efficently with my query and then went on to help me with broader issues (my savings). I was very favourably impressed.
Always found staff patient helpful and polite
I had to contact due to a current account switch not going through. There was no apology for this. The customer service agent started a new switch and was friendly and efficient at this.

So good I left within months frustrated waisting a lot of time and the fact cards hardly worked along with apathetic in store experience I threw card over counter and left the branch straight away I organized alternative.
It will get great to have online banking and a working card again

The online banking is well set out and easy to follow. I feel safe using online banking knowing that I will always have a text sent to my phone if I want to check my statements.

Opening a regular saver from my mobile:
Fairly straightforward except entering dates. The default date that comes up is today's date but to go back, you go back month by month. That's a lot of months if you're 67! You can enter manually which I realised but even that wasn't easy. Also I copied and pasted in my postcode, but it didn't like that so it had to be entered manually.

The wait times are horrific. Often have to wait over half an hour for someone to answer the phone

Only been with you a month and second time been on here.
Tried to switch an account to you. Not the easiest to be fair. Ie typing in the 16 bank code blind seems a bit over the top. Also after putting it's not a joint account you still get joint account information details there. Anyway Finally got to putting in the switch account details and then the system wouldn't allow me to type information into these spaces provided.
Gave up after filling in the form three time and still couldn't put in the informatin in the spaces provided .i'll never get that hour back.
Even if I could type in the spaces it seemed to be asking for information that i'd already put into the form.
Coop needs to make this more user friendly especially when trying the get new customers.

Wanted to open a current account - but had no acceptable photo ID ..... so needed to contact them by phone.
Once I finally got to 1st in the queue - after about 15mins - I was passed to a 'Personal Banker' - very 1980's.
I was warned that the opening of the account could take 1 hour - WHAT???? - when I open other accounts online in minutes, literally as simple as that. Anyway, it took less than 1 hour, the time used up mainly by the 'Personal Banker' having to read through everything in the T&Cs.
On the plus side, everyone I spoke to gave me the time I needed, were very pleasant and attentive in their interaction with me.
Hopefully the account has been opened and it will be OK as I have to wait for the postperson to get my account details, they can't even email it to me.
I actually nearly gave up on my application as it was just a bit of a PITA ..... the cashback bribe pushed me forward however ;)

I received a text messages just after 6.00am ask if I recognised a payment they had declined. I was also asked if I recognised the payment to a company I had never heard of. I replied that I didn't know anything about it. I then received a text message shortly afterwards to inform me that the fraud department of The Co-operative Bank. I was sent another text message asking me to call the fraud department of the bank. The member of staff that I spoke to was very helpful in explaining what had happened and also reassuring me that my account was safe. Given my experience of dealing with the fraud department of The Co-operative Bank I would highly recommend how the fraud department of The Co-operative work to keep their customers' bank accounts are kept safe from fraud.

I requested a call for 12pm today and a woman called Ann called right on the dot. She was amazing at sorting out everything for me and my husband. I just wanted to thank you again Ann for the first class service we received today. You really were amazing 👏 5 star 🌟

I wished to understand whether I could be eligible for Co-op Bank's current account switch offer. Rebecca, who answered my initial call was very ready to help but the process was clearly complicated and I had to be referred to a branch staff member (Luke Thornton) who called me at an agreed time the same day and was extremely patient and constructive in guiding me through it.
