I made a reservation and paid i. Full for a 30 day stay WITHOUT FULLY READING THAT I HAD TO PAY A SECURITY DEPOSIT WHICH I DID NOT HAVE. BUUUT COLIVING.COM MADE IT VERY VERY EASY TO CANCEL MY RESERVATION AND WILL GIVEME A FULL REFUND KEPT ME IMFORMED DURING PROCESS AMONG THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCES I HAVE HAD THANK U COLIVING.COM U FOR SURE HAVE MY BUSINESS AGAIN IN THE NEAR FUTURE

I found a lovely Coliving through the website Coliving.com. I would use the website again.

The customer service is exceptional, they handled an issue very quick and made sure I was happy with the service.

Coliving.com claims to offer a 100% refund excluding commission.

However, I never expected the "commission" to swallow 96% of the booking cost. My experience suggests a deliberate, multi-stage friction strategy designed to discourage customers from pursuing their money:

Step 1: An initial refund of a negligible amount.
Step 2: An offer of a "goodwill" voucher, lock-in for their services only.
Step 3: Agreement to a partial cash refund minus vague "operational costs."
Step 4: A full refund, but only after exhaustive and grueling correspondence.

You provide a good service but the value for money is really poor considering your margins, I would have paid much less (around 50% of what I paid) if I had gone directly to the local real estate company. I would not use this website again, unless there was ABSOLUTELY no other alternative.

Unless you are in an emergency, like I was, you may save a lot of money if you spend some time and go directly to the local websites. Do not be afraid just because they are in a local language, in my case it was Japanese. I should have asked a Japanese friend and I would have saved a lot of money.

If for whatever reason you need to use coliving, just go for 1 month accommodation and once you are in the place, contact the local company for further months.

I would avoid booking via coliving.com if you can book directly with the host. Part of coliving.com's policy is a 24-hour grace period from when you move into your accommodation, so you can hold payment to the host in case of any issues.

I had issues on moving in, my initial report was submitted within the 24-hour window defined in their policy, yet I received an email hours later from coliving.com stating payment had already been captured automatically which was in full breach of their own policy. Furthermore, I was asked to deal directly with the host which put the entire resolution burden on me. The policy exists for cases like mine. On pressing for a more acceptable response from them, when they finally got back to me over 24 hours later (the excuse was it was the weekend and they were short-staffed), I didn't get any apology, nor any admission or acknowledgement of breach. Meanwhile, I spent the entire day on Sunday playing a game of ping-pong with the host who was also left completely in the dark as to how best proceed.

Myself and the host both finally received responses. Long story short, I was granted a full refund but I suspect it was only as a result of my initial review on here - once the matter was closed, I received emails from a coliving.com rep asking me to delete or amend what I’d written on here, followed by two more emails on the next two days consecutively, repeating the same request. I found that persistence inappropriate and unnecessary.

I’m updating this to reflect that the problem was resolved, but my rating is based on the complete experience: the initial difficulty, the feeling that I only received quick support after going public, and the repeated requests to alter my review. Whilst I understand businesses wanting to protect their reputation, this approach felt incredibly intrusive and added to the strain rather than repairing it.

Great location, perfect communication, and helpful feedback! A few small things differed from what I expected, but it was a positive experience overall.
