Consumer protection

Consumer protection? Yeah right! I filed a claim with them about a company called LLP D out of Seattle Washington who scammed $4000 out of my veteran husband and I'm the one who sent the money and did nothing for us promised us to do nothing told us don't do anything, don't pay our mortgage don't talk to our mortgage that everything is on their end. And by doing that, after my husband died, I lost our home. And do you think I could get the 4000 back?? No and this company did absolutely nothing! They don't protect anybody!

The CFPB is useless

The CFPB is useless. They aren't here to "protect" us, they are here to be a government roadblock to actually getting any real answers from the CC companies they protect.

CFPB simply send all your docs to the organization mistreating the customer and and send back their response to the customer. NO investigation, no follow up. just a re-sending service. Do not waste your time!

I believe there is speculation that the consumer financial protection is not on the job but my experience have been positive! In the last two months I have filed complaints with this agency against a debt collector and against a bank . It's been mixed results but both times within 15 days the companies responded. now you may not like the companies response but you could get some clarity. And the agency will publish your complaints on the website and if need be contact another agency to help you.

★☆☆☆☆ One Star

★☆☆☆☆ One Star – CFPB Failing to Protect Consumers

The CFPB’s oversight is failing the people it’s supposed to protect. Background reporting and employment screening still allow decade-old convictions to bar applicants simply because of the “type” of offense, misrepresenting character and ruining lives long after any public safety concern has passed. The endless, legalistic twenty-page pre-adverse action forms feel performative rather than protective, creating bureaucracy without meaningful recourse.

Consumers deserve accurate reports, timely corrections, and systems that don’t perpetuate stigma or economic exclusion. Instead, the CFPB’s guidance lets outdated data and opaque procedures continue to harm people every day. Reform is urgent — until then, this agency looks like a rubber stamp for harmful, ineffective practices.

The CFPB failed me

The CFPB failed me. I filed multiple complaints against Balboa Capital for predatory lending, repossession threats without proper notice, and false reporting on my personal credit. Despite providing evidence, the CFPB did not investigate. Instead, they simply forwarded my complaint to Balboa, accepted whatever response Balboa gave, and then closed the case.

This process allows companies to mislead and lie with no accountability. Consumers like me are left harmed, while lenders like Balboa walk away untouched. The CFPB is supposed to protect consumers, but in practice it’s nothing more than a paper-pusher that protects businesses instead.

Worthless government agency

Worthless government agency that will not accept complaints against LexisNexis. LexisNexis is a worthless company that reports bad information and ignores information disputes instead choosing to continue to report bad information.

Reported an illegal tribal lender Zoca Loans who sent account to collections with an interest rate of 500%. Zoca responded with a generic response and CFPB closed it without cause. They are useless now and aiding predatory lending practices that violate state maximum rates.

CFPB failed to protect me — they let banks do whatever they want...

Submitted multiple complaints to the CFPB about Wells Fargo’s mishandling of my late mother’s estate accounts. A Wells Fargo employee stripped me of my rightful POD status without my consent or any disclosure — something that directly violates the most basic expectations of fiduciary conduct.

Despite providing all the facts, case numbers, and supporting documentation, CFPB dismissed my concerns simply because the bank responded by saying I wasn’t authorized. They never questioned the validity of the bank’s unauthorized changes, nor did they investigate the structure of the account at the time of my mother’s death, which is the only thing that should matter in a POD case.

What’s the point of the CFPB if they just defer to the banks? If consumers can’t rely on this agency to protect them when large institutions act unethically, what are they really doing?

If I could give them a zero I would this is a federal government agency that should be eliminated. All they do is record your complaints and when you get a response back, there’s no option to debate they close the case and they move on so they’re not backing the consumer it’s really like a fraudulent bureaucracy is what I call it. This is an agency that definitely needs to be eliminated. They don’t work for the public. They don’t work for the consumer at all.

FILING A COMPLAINT IS USELESS!!!

Filing 2 complaints through you was a total waste of my time! This bureau & its processes are useless! After a company responds to a complaint, regardless of the vagueness of the response, CFPB automatically closes the complaint! CFPB does this without giving the complainant an opportunity to respond to the company's response. THIS IS RIDICULOUS & I'LL NEVER FILE A WORTHLESS COMPLAING THROUGH CFPB's USELESS-USE-OF-OUR-TAX-DOLLAR-BUREAU AGAIN!!!

Waste of time and our money and our hopes..

I should have read the reviews before wasting my time, and going thru the details of explaining my pain with Michigan Mutual Mtg company.
Yep! the previous reviews are correct: THEY DO NOT WORK FOR US, UNLESS WE AREN'T THE CONSUMERS!!!! what a B.S. to make us feel that there is hope to solve our financial problems, and usually because the big guy has committed fraud against us! Do not even try anything with them: THEY DO NOT LISTEN!!
P.S. I just clicked below on the: let them know about your review.. ahahahah... sure, let them know like they care.. ahahahah

The CFPB was created after the 2009…

The CFPB was created after the 2009 financial crisis to protect consumers. It started operating on July 21, 2011. In 2017
the agency turned its back on both consumers & the economy. The agency enabled 18 USC 371 and protected the ones that did it. I'm not a lawyer so I couldn't stop any of this. I gave the ones involved a microphone & activated internet spotlights.
All involved told on themselves in their own words and actions. I made sure there was both a government record & a public record I could point to. That way no one could truthfully say I had first hand knowledge of this & didn't tell anyone. I asked members of both the House & Senate to do something. They left me to my own devices. I gave my full report to the Biden Harris administration. I promised to answer all questions they ask about my report.

CFPB Fails to Live Up to Its Name

CFPB does no work. CFPB declines to investigate complaints, making up excuses for not doing so, and then refers the complaint to other agencies who do not do any work.

Don't deal with these people who you don't communicate with not providing your actual details

The person called me out of the blue. He then said there was money owing to me and provided part of my details from a cript currency I had recently been with early last year. I said what is your company and where are you? He said Consumer Financial Protection bureau and he was calling from Switzerland.
Then trying to get my personal Bank account with the money I use. I said send the money into my other account. He says "your account needs to be active and UK s well known banks you use"?
I did recognize my bank to him but my friend who was beside me said "Jotted it off"
The then person who was trying to talk with me on the phone started talking fast then I end the phone and blocked it. He then called me back with another mobile number and waited for him to stop calling then I blocked it.
This go to show there are many scammers out there trying to access your money from your bank. Even when they say there finance department can help you with your money which is owed to you.
