I referred a property dispute to ARAG through my legal expenses insurance and unfortunately found the overall experience disappointing.

Communication throughout the claim was poor. Emails often went unanswered, updates were only provided after I chased them, and there was little proactive communication about the progress of the case. At one stage I was informed that evidence I had already submitted, including a parking diary, had not been received, requiring me to upload it again and causing further delay.

The solicitor ultimately concluded that the claim did not have sufficient prospects of success to proceed under the policy. Whilst I accept that solicitors can legitimately reach a different legal opinion, the handling of the claim left much to be desired. There were significant delays before a decision was reached, and I was left having to repeatedly seek updates and clarification.

After the claim was declined, I wrote asking whether the assessment could be reconsidered in light of further evidence. That email also went unanswered for a period before I eventually received a response.

One aspect I found particularly frustrating was the timing of the review requests. I received several emails inviting me to leave a review before the onboarding process had even been completed and long before any meaningful work had been carried out on the claim. By the time the matter had concluded and I was in a position to provide an informed review of the service I had actually received, the review links had expired. I found this disappointing, as it meant I could no longer leave feedback through the original review invitation.

The advice itself was professionally presented, but the overall service fell well below the standard I expected from a firm handling legal expenses insurance claims. Better communication, timely acknowledgement of correspondence and evidence, and regular updates would have made the experience considerably less frustrating.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend ARAG Law’s claims handling. While I appreciate that not every claim can succeed, clients should at least expect responsive communication, efficient case management and the opportunity to provide feedback once the service has actually been delivered.

It took nearly three years to settle my claim due to the complexity of the case, but they never gave up.
Communication was excellent as was the end result.

After an initially slow start , where my solicitor was changed , which was quite unsettling, Alice took on the case and was brilliant, she was honest and guided me through everything and made every far less stressful

Initial communications were not very joined up, we were assigned a paralegal who then immediately went on annual leave without us knowing and so missed appointments with us.
