I have worked here for several months. Overall, the platform is simple and direct. The tasks vary in difficulty. My reason for not giving it 5 stars is job offers are often uncertain. I check the... See more

Data Annotation owes me money but their own platform won’t let me collect it, zero support response
I have completed work on this platform and have money in my account that I cannot withdraw, all because of a bug that has never been addressed.
Since onboarding, the PayPal email field on my profile has never worked. Every time I enter my email and save, it says “Profile updated”, but the field goes straight back to blank. Every single time. I have never been able to successfully set a PayPal email address, which means I cannot get paid for work I have already done.
I reached out to support. No response. Complete silence.
This is unacceptable. Workers are being unable to access their earned money because of a bug on the platform’s end, and the support team cannot even acknowledge the issue. I am not asking for anything unreasonable, I just want to be paid for work I have completed.
I have exhausted every option available to me. This is clearly a backend issue that only they can resolve, yet there is zero communication or accountability from their side.
If you are considering working here, just know that getting paid is not guaranteed, and if something goes wrong, do not expect any help.
Fix the PayPal email bug and respond to your workers. People’s livelihoods depend on it.
At dataannotation
At dataannotation, often times the tasks come at US working hours. Moreover, task availability is not certain, sometimes it comes , sometimes there can be long periods where the dashboard stays empty.
But, i liked it since the payrate is much better than working in my local. I am living in Asia emerging countries, so if you live in HCOL, their payrate will feel different. The tasks are sometimes interesting, but it is not my core expertise. I will give better rating if they give tasks for my core expertise, certainly with better payrate. I remembered doing one such task before, but it rarely appears again, maybe their AI thinks I often work on general/bilingual tasks.
I suspect it’s just a data spy
I suspect it’s just a data spy. It asks your data for nothing so don’t apply. Some people have been paid once and no more, just to maintain the impression that’s not a scam.
This company ghosts you!
Avoid this company at all costs! They will ask you to do induction projects, then say they will review the results in a few days. After waiting for 2 weeks and still no change to status, I messaged support asking what the holdup is. No response. A week later I messaged again. No response.
No communication, no support.
This company, at best, has no structures in place to resolve participants queries/complaints. At worst, this company is a fraud, and should not be in business.
God help you if you are working for them and have an issue, because it will never be resolved.
I feel sorry for any company who uses this platform for AI LLM reviewing, as any data produced will be so skewed as to be unreliable.
DO NOT WORK FOR THEM, THEY BAN YOU RANDOMLY
DO NOT WORK FOR THEM. they will ban you for NO REASON and there is no way to contact support. IT IS COMPLETELY BULLSHIT!!!
I HAVE WORKED AND REACHED 114$ AND THEN SUDDENLY I RECIEVED THIS MESSAGE "After careful review of your account activity, we have detected multiple attempts to defraud our payment system. This is a violation of our Code of Conduct and Terms of Use, and your account has been permanently suspended.
Our policy for violations of the Code of Conduct exists because unethical behavior undermines our platform's integrity"
BUT I DIDNT DO JACK SHIT, I DIDNT EVEN TRY TO WITHDRAW, HOW COULD I DEFRAUD THEIR PAYMENT SYSTEM, WHAT DOES IT EVEN MEAN??? am i a hacker and i didnt know???
ABSOLUTELY BULLSHIT
DO NOT APPLY
Worst company
Worst company, do not respond or give the feedback for the assessment test. respond to any mail.
Please read this before applying
I spent less than a week on the platform, referred my husband who is a senior software engineer and we both did a lot of work for them after I received the approved referral payment. (Seemed like confirmation they were legitimate as a payment had been made). We continued to do more work for the next three days, up until the day that I was meant to get paid for the training and projects I did, then suddenly my husband and I receive an automated message that our accounts have been permanently suspended because we were attempting to defraud their payment system? Clear automated message by a bot that flagged the fact we work from the same IP I think? Who knows as they don’t reply to support, they have no appeal system other than support, so over $2k dollars worth of income gone with no way of recovery. If you decide to work for this company be very careful, while they may be legitimate to a degree, they use AI for their work and hiring screening (obviously), but also for their flagging system of potential violations, which is insane when dealing with people’s earnings.
Spent lots of time passing their tests…
Spent lots of time passing their tests and setting it up but after completing one task was blocked from the website with a generic message saying Id violating the rules. I've emailed to ask for a specific reason and heard nothing in response. Waste of time.
They will waste your time and never pay…
They will waste your time and never pay you anything. I spent hours filling out their onboarding process. Waiting each time for them to process my tests. This took forever. I finally passed each test, so I clearly did everything correct on my part. This took up a considerable amount of time on my part. They said I passed. The only thing left was the "identity verification". So I tried using their software to prove my identify by taking photos of my face and my state ID, but due to their own broken software making too many mistakes their entire site banned me. I don't mean my account was banned, I mean the entire site literally banned me from using it. I can't even talk to customer support because they blocked my IP address. All because of their broken verification software. I gave them hours of my own time and they gave me nothing in return. They stole my time and owe me compensation, but I doubt they pay anybody anything. I should have read the other reviews about people not getting paid.
An irresponsible company
I applied to this company a long time ago, but I haven’t received any response—positive or negative. Applicants shouldn’t be kept waiting for more than a few weeks, or at most a month. If they see this complaint, I expect them to contact me; otherwise, I will file a complaint on other international websites as well.
Account suspended after completed work, earnings withheld
I registered on the platform, fulfilled all onboarding requirements, and successfully completed several projects. Shortly afterwards, my account was suspended without prior warning. The stated reason was an alleged violation of the payment policy — without any specific explanation of which rule I had supposedly broken.
My completed work was not compensated. When I followed up, I received no substantive response, only automated standard replies.
I looked into this further and found that this pattern is described in numerous reviews across multiple platforms: new users are drawn in with attractive projects, complete the work — and are then suspended on a pretext before any payment is made.
I am not making blanket accusations, but describing solely my own, documented personal experience. Those who have experienced something similar will find confirmation in the other reviews here.
Got banned for using VPN to access my doctor's website
I switched on my VPN to access my doctor's surgery website and neglected to switch it off, then was permanently banned by DataAnnotations when I checked their website. The sad part is I enjoy the work and I like their concept - they paid me for what I'd already done, so that's 1-star, although not the 6 hours I hadn't submitted that day - a 24-hour ban would have been reasonable for a 1st offence
Easy to work for
Very well organized, easy to work and get paid. Prompt response to questions.
A bunch of Morons
This Company was developed by complete morons with so called intelligence but not a lick of brains. Don't waste your time! ! !
Ghosted
I originally gave them 1 star, but they did end up paying me for the work I did. I was still ghosted for any further work, but at least my past work wasn't a waste of time.
Ghosted by a bot – Unethical and impersonal
English:
Ghosted by a bot – Unethical and impersonal
This platform is a "black box" for labor. After completing tasks and handing over personal data, the system simply "ghosts" your profile with zero communication or support. There is no human oversight; if the algorithm glitches, your work and your pending pay disappear into a void. More importantly, these platforms are essentially asking the middle class to train the very tools that are being built to replace them—all for low, inconsistent pay and zero job security. Don't provide your valuable data to a company that treats human intelligence as a disposable commodity.
DataAnnotation is a reliable platform…
DataAnnotation is a reliable platform for remote work, and it consistently pays workers on time. However, its drawbacks include a user interface that is not very visually appealing and occasional instances where the platform does not notify workers about new projects via email. Despite this, the platform offers highly competitive compensation in the AI training market.
I have worked to a point where I…
I have worked to a point where I consistently have decently paying ($25-35/hr) work available, but there are serious issues with this site. There is basically no feedback from the higher-ups, and the instructions on many tasks are sometimes incomprehensible or self-contradictory. Sometimes, the instructions will say to do things a certain way, but the admins in the project chat will say something completely different.
This site is worth giving a try, and you might be able to make good side-money (or even salary-level money, if you get internally promoted within the site), but you might get axed at any point without understanding why, and if you want to survive on the site, you'll find yourself skipping work often because the instructions make no sense and it isn't worth turning in "bad" work simply because the instructions are unclear.
Extremely Unprofessional, Negligent, and Completely Unresponsive
I completed DataAnnotation’s starter assessment successfully, and more than two months have now passed without any meaningful update, progress, or response of any kind. My dashboard continues to show that the assessment is under review, yet my application appears to be completely frozen.
What makes this matter especially serious is that I did not simply submit the assessment and disappear. I made repeated and respectful efforts to obtain clarification through every reasonable communication channel available. I contacted them through the messaging tab inside my profile, emailed them directly multiple times, and also sent messages through Facebook and Instagram. They failed to respond through any of these channels. Not once.
At that point, this can no longer be dismissed as ordinary delay or backlog. It reflects a serious failure in communication, accountability, and basic professional responsibility. When a company asks applicants to invest significant time completing assessments, it assumes a minimum duty to handle those applications with reasonable care. Ignoring repeated follow-ups for more than two months while leaving the application in limbo shows a disturbing level of disregard for the applicant’s time and effort.
The most troubling part is not merely the delay itself, but the absolute silence. No explanation. No estimated timeline. No request for additional information. No acknowledgment that the messages were even received. Nothing. That kind of conduct creates the impression that applicants are being collected, screened, or stalled without any real intention to communicate fairly or process their files responsibly.
In my case, I spent substantial time completing the assessment, followed up patiently and respectfully on multiple occasions, and was met with complete indifference. Such behavior is not only unprofessional, but also highly disrespectful to applicants who are acting in good faith.
Based on my experience, DataAnnotation has demonstrated extreme negligence, lack of transparency, and complete disregard for applicant communication. I cannot recommend this platform to serious professionals.
