I was about to purchase a WordPress…

I was about to purchase a WordPress theme and couldn't.
Envato has become subscription-based, and that is just unnecessary. So, after over 15 years, we part.
I would just like to buy a theme, and I don't need to sign up for a subscription.
I will go to competitors.
This was such a weird move.
Farewell.

Envato AI Generation Feature Is Not Intelligent and Defective

Envato AI Generation feature is not intelligent, defective, and prone to error approximately 70% of the time, even for an experienced AI prompt engineer, resulting in the need to use 70% more AI Generation credits than should be necessary, requiring a subscription plan upgrade to continue using the AI Generation feature. Envato support is aggressive, confrontational, and refuses to acknowledge this Envato AI defect. Do not subscribe to Envato.

They will steal your money

Been using envato for years, and they have been useful. But the projects I needed them for completed.
I forgot to cancel my yearly subscription and as such a payment was taken.
I immediately contacted them and canceled my subscription, having not used their service for some time.
They rudely refuse to entertain any kind of refund, despite obvious evidence that I have not used a service for some time.
They are crooks, be extremely careful when dealing with this company especially if you are a subscriber.

The service is ok for the price, but not all copyright claim are easy to claim

I've used Envato for more than 8 months. The service is ok for the price, (especially if you buy the yearly subscription) there is a decent amount of footage, music and sound effect, (less than storyblocks tho) the AI features are ok, the big problem is that Envato does not protect you from elitealliance. net copyright claims on the music you rightfully have the license for via the Envato subscription, the copyright claim clear feature does not work properly if elitealliance has flagged your video as unfair use.
That's why when my subscription ends I'll just switch to another footage and music provider.

DON'T USE ENVATO FOR MUSIC LICENSES

DON'T USE ENVATO FOR MUSIC LICENSES ON YOUTUBE AND SUCH.
Every time I get a copyright claim, even though my music is licensed with Envato and my channel is on the safelist.
I always have to solve the issues manually and this sometimes takes the full 30 days for the claims to clear..
Youtube and other sources say that you will receive the money after the dispute is cleared, but I highly doubt it.. It really kills my income on youtube.
Just take artlist or something else. My friend uses that and NEVER has had an issue in his 6 years using that service. I was surprised to hear it.

I've filed multiple complaints and Envato is very lax about it, they say I have to put my channel in claim clear or other nonsense, which I always say that I do.

I'm absolutely tired of this shit.

I forgot to cancel my subscription…

I forgot to cancel my subscription before it renewed, and about 10 minutes after the renewal I opened a support ticket asking if a refund was possible.

I explained that we are going through a difficult period as a company and that this was not because we were unhappy with Envato. I also said we would come back if things improve.

Instead of any real understanding, I received what felt like an automatic reply saying there would be no refund. Very disappointing customer support.

really sucks

really sucks!!!

One project's author abandoned it (originally promising lifetime service), and I received no compensation.

Another project's author promised a buy-two-get-two-free deal, but now claims the two free certificates are invalid due to platform policy.

Since the platform is so biased, why even bother shopping there?

Paid for a full year

Paid for a full year, locked out, and support just hides behind the fine print
One star is generous. I paid in full for a yearly subscription and was then completely locked out of the account I had paid for. The one thing I paid for, I simply could not use.
When I contacted support, I expected someone to actually look at the problem. Instead I got a series of robotic, copy-paste replies that ignored the only thing that mattered: I have no access to what I paid for. Every answer dodged the real issue and pointed at the "User Terms" like a shield. Zero interest in solving anything, zero customer understanding. It felt like talking to a script, not a person.
The logic they expect you to swallow is absurd: their system fails, you lose access to a service you already paid for, and somehow that is your problem and you are not owed a cent back. A company that takes your money for something you cannot use and then refuses any refund isn't running a support team, it's running a wall.
If you want to be treated like a customer instead of a ticket number, look elsewhere. I will not be back, and I'd warn anyone against handing this company a yearly payment.

Poor customer service

I've been a customer for many years and I upgraded to a 2 member account, however when it came to renewal I got no notice or email from them and they charged me the full annual price for 2 memberships. The problem is I only want 1 membership but now they refuse to give me a partial refund on the extra membership even though I have over 11 months remaining on it. Its costing me over $250 more for this extra membership which I don't need and I think its unfair they never give any refund no matter what the case is or how many years you've been a customer.

False, Misleading Advertsing, Poor Customer Service, Video content requires work

I am absolutely appalled and disgusted being a long term member of Envato not only at their customer service but how they falsely advertise the products and pricing. I have proof of screenshots of their pricing and seeing they have a 2.4 star on Trust Pilot with 9000+ reviews speaks volumes. You can also go on their website to view the plans.

I have been a member for years and I recently upgraded to their middle plan which offers 100 AI downloads.
Only in the last few days, this has changed where they offer you a low quality video at 720 now if you wish to have a 1080 or 4k version they charge you another download.
Now in effect I am receiving 50 downloads but they are advertising 100 downloads.
Whilst they are still learning about AI they're overall video content is OK. When you don't like a video and wish to edit it, they still charge you even though they say it doesn't.
I don't like using these words but it's a scam approach and i don't like it.
They should offer up to 4k as 1 download and advertised and if you the video they generate is not in line with what you are describing they chouldn't charge you. Only charge us when we decide to download it.

When I approached their customer service, it's stock standard email. Nothing gets done.

I do not recommend Envato whatsoever for all the reasons above.

Poor quality AI generated images.

Poor quality AI generated images.
Also, they downgraded the subscription plan, and now only 10 AI generations can be created per month, down from 25. And the worst part is that the videos they generate are now perverse, creating absurd and nonsensical things. Such a waste of money.

Be careful if you buy anything here

Be careful if you buy anything here. If something isn't right, they won't give you your money back but will immediately block your account. Even if you have expensive templates or plugins installed there, it remains blocked until you do what they (Mike from Envato, a very unfriendly and cynical person when he emails) say. You'd be better off buying your templates and plugins from another supplier!
