5p off per litre with Nectar at Esso is a SCAM

SCAM - 5p off per litre at Esso with Nectar
It does not work. At best they just refund you the 300 points back, but what is the point in using this offer if it never works? I'd rather go elsewhere which is 2p less per litre.
Then they never respond for compensation
Useless and SCAM - avoid.

Exxon Mobile has utter contempt for its customers!

What unbelievable contempt Exxon Mobil has for its customers! I downloaded its app, which purports to reward customers for purchases. Having been lured to drive out of my way by an e-mailed offer of $4 on a fill-up, it proved impossible to use the app to make a purchase. I spent about ten minutes trying to sign in to the app (because it does not remember passwords); I used my web browser to retrieve the password from my online account; signing in to verify that the app had my correct phone number required not only my e-mail address and password, but the entry of a code sent to my e-mail address. Having verified my phone number and password online, the app would not sign me in without entering a code sent not to my e-mail, but texted to me, only the code never arrived. I called the (of course offshore) customer service department and eventually received the explanation that Exxon Mobile knows that its app is defective and the suggestion that I could try again in a couple of days -- while I was sitting at the pump expecting to be able to use the app to buy gas and receive the reward I had just been promised!

No compensation of any kind was offered, even after asking -- not so much as an apology was forthcoming. The website and app are very secure, no doubt; if you can sign in, you're almost immediately signed out, but they are in an unusable condition. Representing that using its app is rewarding, it would behoove Exxon Mobile to first make certain that its operation is rock solid, knowing that customers expect to be able to use it to buy gas without a hassle -- I had about fifteen minutes of unbelievable hassle and still could not use the app to purchase gas or get the promised reward! I'm uninstalling the app and plan to avoid Exxon Mobile stations like the plague from now on -- the company has demonstrated just appalling disrespect for me as a customer when the whole point of the app is ostensibly to inspire affinity with its brand and garner repeat business.
