[UPDATED: Resolved] Insurance packages that never apply — what's the point?
I rented a BMW 1 Series through FINN and the overall experience was decent — until the return process. I accidentally scraped the lip of three wheels while parking, which I openly disclosed during return. Fair enough, damage is damage.
However, FINN charged me €453 as "Minderwert" (loss of value) — €151 per wheel — instead of actual repair costs. Here's the problem: I had purchased their Premium Schutz package (€250 deductible) AND their small damage coverage up to €400. If every scratch is billed as "loss of value" rather than repair cost, these insurance packages become completely meaningless. Why sell protection packages that can never actually apply?
I filed a formal dispute and received a response saying the charge would be paused during review. I'll update this review based on the outcome.
**[UPDATE]** FINN resolved this faster than expected — the entire €453 charge was cancelled within a few hours of my follow-up. Credit where it's due: once I submitted a formal written dispute with the right arguments, their team handled it quickly and fairly.
My advice: if you have a damage situation, report it immediately through the claims channel and make sure it's properly recorded. Don't assume the system has logged it — double-check. The insurance packages do work, but you need to advocate for yourself clearly and in writing. In the end, FINN did the right thing.
I've updated my rating from 2 stars to 4 stars to reflect the resolution. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Everything was okay until the return process. Poor communication. Slow responses or no response. They will do everything they can to avoid giving your deposit back. I returned my car in ideal condition, and they found “mystical” scratches and sent them to me online after the return. Since I am not there, I can not even dispute that. They charged 450 euros for the key case, a plastic cover that costs 5 euros, or 50 euros for the brand. Then never responded back regarding it and blackmailed about collectors.
Again, DO NOT RECOMMEND!
DO NOT RENT OR LEASE WITH FINN.

If I could give zero stars, I would.
I was in California trying to figure out the best option for a car during an extended stay in Europe. Since I split my time between Germany and Italy and planned to stay in Italy for several months, I specifically needed flexibility and transparency.
The booking process was already problematic from the start. Multiple vehicles advertised on the site (BMW, Mercedes, and other midsize options) were mysteriously “unavailable” once I attempted to complete the reservation. Only after selecting a Jeep did the booking finally go through.
After arriving in Germany, I used AI to review FINN’s FAQ and discovered that taking the car to Italy for longer than three months is apparently prohibited. This critical restriction was never clearly disclosed during the booking process.
Customer support exists, but unfortunately was largely ineffective. Email responses felt generic and disconnected from the actual issue. After repeated back-and-forth conversations with phone support, one employee finally agreed to cancel the lease.
Minutes later, I received another email informing me that I would still be charged a cancellation fee equal to one month’s payment — approximately €580.
The entire experience felt deeply misleading and unnecessarily difficult. I would strongly advise anyone considering FINN to read every detail carefully and proceed with caution. In my experience, transparency and customer care were seriously lacking.
Good
Good , would have been better with a flexibility on mileage. Competition like vilocar is more lenient on mileage figures .

As an expatriate residing in Munich
As an expatriate residing in Munich,
I conducted a thorough evaluation of purchasing versus leasing options for a new vehicle. I am pleased with my decision to enroll with FINN, as their all-inclusive service has provided complete peace of mind. Whether addressing routine maintenance or unexpected accidents, the FINN team has consistently offered exemplary support, handling all matters with high efficiency.
I am highly satisfied with their service, which is why I am currently in the process of securing another new vehicle with them.
I strongly encourage you to consider FINN for a wise, flexible, and stress-free mobility solution if you are an expat.
Fun fact, 3 of my steet neighbours also enrolled and got new vehicles from FINN after learning my experience.
Good Luck!

Three-Year Customer Experience – Communication and Claim Issues
My overall experience with Finn was disappointing. As a customer for three years, I observed a noticeable decline in communication, organization, and transparency over time.
With my most recent vehicle, I had a damage claim that was difficult to resolve. The issue was never clearly explained or resolved from my perspective. When I asked for clarification, I was repeatedly told that the assessment was correct, but I did not receive the detailed explanation I had requested.
During the process, I reported scratched hubcaps. I was informed that the vehicle was considered not roadworthy with no explanation and no alternative vehicle or temporary solution was offered. The workshop later informed me that the replacement parts were not available, and I ultimately had to wait several months before they contacted me to schedule the repair.
Communication throughout the process was also challenging. It was almost impossible to reach support by phone. The system typically indicated a 15-minute wait time, but calls often disconnected before reaching an agent. Email communication was also inconsistent, as a different representative responded to most messages, which made it difficult to maintain a continuous discussion about the issue. I also had to follow up frequently because responses often took longer than the 1–2 business days stated in the automated replies.
Overall, the process felt disorganized and lacked transparency, and resolving questions about the claim required multiple follow-ups. I recommend that potential customers carefully review the terms and conditions, particularly regarding damage claims and deductibles, before signing a contract.

They miscalculated the time and made me spend 4 hours more over there. And eventually, the problem was not solved.

Good Experience So Far, But Pricing Could Be More Transparent
As of today, I have not had any bad experiences with FINN. We received the car in very clean condition, and since it was a new car, we have not faced any issues so far. The customer service team is friendly, and they are able to communicate in English if requested, which was helpful.
My only concern is about the additional costs that are not very clear in the advertisement. The charges for pick-up and drop-off of the car are quite high (around €500), which is sometimes equivalent to an entire monthly payment. I believe FINN should include this cost more clearly in their advertising.
There is also a €1,500 one-time payment or deposit. While FINN shows a lower monthly price in their advertisements, the actual monthly cost becomes higher once insurance and additional packages are included. For example, the advertised price might be around €359 per month, but in reality, after insurance and additional packages my monthly payment is €443, plus another €125 per month because the €1,500 one-time payment is spread over the year.
So effectively, the real monthly cost is closer to €550 rather than the advertised €359. I think it would be more transparent if FINN showed the full realistic monthly cost in their advertisements.
So far, I have not experienced the drop-off process or any service issues yet. I will update my review and rating at the end of my subscription based on the full experience.
