You have to wait for an hour in the airport. Than another hour when you finnaly have a shuttle. Our car was old and rusty and not wel balanced and a downgrade for what we ordered. Allmost mist the flight on the way bak because again waiting an hour. Badly organised and bad products. Don't rent here

Everything was fine and worked very well - a really great service for a good price.

Although busy, the service at the office was great both at pick up and drop-off. All ins and outs were explained clearly. The car we've got was a little threadbare but served us very well indeed for over 5000km through Iceland. In fact, we got quite attached to the rickety but reliable thing. Sadly, it gave up on us on the last day at a carpark in Reykjavik, of all places. Assistance on the phone was very constructive and we've got a replacement car that got us safely to the airport. of course, we could have done without the stress but all was well in the end. Overall, a rather positive experience with a car that got the job done and allowed us a fabulous time on a wonderful island.

The car was good.it was one of the cheaper rentals that I could find. It had just enough room. The roads in Iceland can be pretty rough especially if under construction. The employee was quite persistent that we purchase extra insurance and so we did. Nothing happened though. The guy at the desk was not the friendliest and when I asked about extending our time, he said he was too busy to do that. When we returned the vehicle it was a much better experience at the desk. Except that the shuttle driver was on his phone both talking and texting the entire way back to the airport and my seatbelt had been cut off. It was a good price but…

We got off to a good start. We got picked up promptly from the airport after a short wait for the shuttle. The person who checked us in at the desk was very courteous and very generous. The car we got was a 22 subaru xv which had great mileage per tank. Awesome car but it needed some maintenance — brakes were squealing and the AC didnt blow cold air at all. This is in summer and it got pretty warm when we drove outside Reykjavik. The car’s audio also kept cutting off a lot. Had to restart the radio so many tines. Minor things I thought. Then when we dropped off the car at 6:30am, we waited almost 30 mins just to have someone at the desk. It was just us. No other customers. We called a number posted there but the cellphone was left at the desk. There was a guy who saw us come in but just ignored us, he was checking in on cars, parking them closer, I guess for incoming custormers. Good thing we had plenty of time before our flight. It took us almost an hour just to return the car and get shuttled to the airport.

Overall I was happy, and it is okay value compared to some other companies. Book a 4WD ("SUV") well in advance if you want to go off road.

A well run operation, a fairly smooth experience, and no issues with the car. The customer service was quite good, Icelanders are lovely people, except I couldn't find the guy at the airport, it was only by luck that I asked some other tourists. Then I had to wait 40 mins for him to come back anyway as the bus was full. Also, they don't pass messages on to each other so you end up not being noticed and having to re-explain everything. I had a Skoda sedan automatic and it was great for all the normal tourist things I wanted.

Service was good, the van I rented was okay but the lady when I returned the van tried to charge me for damage I didn’t do. Lucky I made a video of the van at pick up so I can show them the damage was already there. The lady tried every way to make me pay, and she was extremely rude.

Very good stuff & service, car was quite scratched but working well over 3000 km. No extra insurance booked as well covered already.

Our airport pickup and drop-off went smoothly and very quickly, which made the start and end of our trip completely stress-free.
We rented a 2015 Suzuki Jimny, and what a little beast it is! It felt like a tiny tractor that could go almost anywhere. It took me a day or so to get used to it, but after that I absolutely loved driving it around Iceland.
The rooftop tent was fantastic. This was my first time traveling this way, and it completely changed my perspective on camping. Sleeping on the roof, waking up surrounded by Icelandic nature, and having the freedom to stop almost anywhere was an amazing experience. I honestly think I've become a big fan of this style of travel.
There were only a couple of small things that could be improved. Both gas canisters in the kitchen box were empty, so on our first evening we couldn't even boil water and had to buy a new canister the next day. It wasn't a major issue, but it would have been nice if at least one full canister had been provided. Also, the windshield wipers could be replaced, as they didn't perform very well in rainy conditions.
Overall, it was an excellent experience, and I would happily rent from them again. Highly recommended!

I’d read some good reviews, and that was the deciding factor in choosing to hire a 4x4 from Icerental4x4 in Iceland. No mileage limit, the car was in great condition, and there were no extra charges. If you look after their car, Icerental4x4 looks after you as a customer. I’d hire a car from Icerental4x4 again in a heartbeat.

Everything went smoothly

Excellent value for money. The price was very competitive compared to other rentals we had looked into before making our decision. We rented a Dacia Duster 4x4 with a roof tent (for 10 days) and overall had a positive experience. On our second day we got a low tire pressure warning; we fixed it ourselves by inflating the tire at a gas station. We didn’t receive much assistance from the rental company for this specific problem, but I trust that for more serious issues they would be quicker and more supportive. Aside from that, the car was comfortable, clean, and easy to manoeuvre, even on F-roads and in windy conditions.

The roof tent was great: the mattress and pillow were comfortable, and it was spacious enough for two people (you can sit inside without having to duck). We slept well, and I’ve even seen couples using the same tent with a child in the middle. However, if you’re taller than about 1.90 m, you might find that your feet touch the upper part of the tent, which is directly exposed to the outside, and tends to get cold and slightly damp overnight. Closing the tent every day was a bit tricky, but nothing serious. It’s part of the experience.

Personally, I wouldn’t choose the sleeping bags as an extra again. We didn’t find them very warm and ended up feeling cold at night. If you have better sleeping bags at home, I’d recommend bringing them, or—at almost the same price—making a quick stop at IKEA to buy a warm duvet. We weren’t very lucky with the weather and had several cold, rainy, and windy nights (which is still normal with Iceland’s extremely variable weather, even in late June/early July when we were there).

Overall, it was a choice we were happy with. The car was exactly what we were looking for in order to have a comfortable 10 days road trip, and we really enjoyed our first experience with a roof tent. We definitely felt the cold, but the setup is charming and more comfortable than you might expect. Customer service could certainly be improved, but thanks to the great value for money and the quality of the vehicle, I would recommend this rental company to a friend.

Fast and friendly turn over at car pick up and drop off. The shuttle from the airport was also fast.

Easy and quick pick up. Return of the car was hassle free and quickly got away to the airport using their shuttle bus.

Perfect Car, Dacia Duster 4x4, very good experience, no problems.

Check in was easy, cost was very reasonable and car was in good condition. We always use ICERENTAL 4x4 and have had great experiences.

The Assistance in the office was fine, but the handiger of such ann’old’ rental car that in even had a broken taillight and faulty wimper blades, was not correct.
