Very limited useful information for my region. And super hard to unsubscribe in time from the 1-week free trial period. In the website and app, impossible to do and no "support" option except the FAQ which sends you around in circles. Granted, and therefore the 1 star, they did send me a mail when I subscribed for the free trial and I used that to unsubscribe. Fingers crossed it will work.
This kind of "free trial trap" appears to become very common and it's a pity: the thrust is gone from the start and most people will feel lured into sth and never go there again

I have used a few platforms to create GPX routes for cycling, and this is the best.

A cycling navigation route creator can never be fully automatic because the algorithm cannot know what bike you are riding, what your priority is at that time, time of day, energy levels and your priority of avoiding traffic over better quality/faster roads.

But there are some options to help fine tune the given route. I have sometimes just left it to the defaults and it has always got me there, but giving 10 minutes to check route and make minor tweaks is advisable!

After several hours of riding to suddenly find yourself cycling along a bridal path can be a bit disparaging.

The interface is slick and quick to learn and use.

There are A LOT of problems with this App. The FIRST is - why doesn't it go straight from Point A to Point B? Why does it insist on going around the whole neighbourhood???? In Australia it costs AUD7.99 A WEEK!!!! Sorry, but I wouldn't pay AUD7.99 A YEAR for it as it is....

Okay, I’ve since found out that you can change the default setting from Best to Shortest and the routing becomes a bit more predictable. It STILL does STUPID things with routing but IS better with it….

There ARE OTHER STUPID things with it though…. Too many to go into….

The route planning is good. I’ve paid for the lifetime worldmap pack, so it’s very annoying that you keep pushing your subscriptions all the time, I do not need or look for those services while using Komoot so please just make it possible to skip them altogether.

Amazing app. All paths are well indicated, as well as the possible works or dangerous parts.

Absolute con. Wife downloaded app in May to use once and we've been billed $4.99 A WEEK since. Changed pricing structure to each week instead of monthly. Real lack of transparency and surge in pricing since being taken over.

I use Komoot for my Nordic walks. What I like after taken a turn is the spoken distance to the next turn. So you know a. I'm still on the right route and b. when the next turn will be expected. Also the directions are very helpful when you left the route (by accident or on purpose).

Support was very helpful and fast.

Super application, je recommande.

I use the free version to plan all my hikes. Having used it for over 1,000 miles, I can honestly say it's brilliant.

It's all far too complecated. Nothing functions just so.

very easy to handle and nice trips. Helps you to explore your homeland like never before. I rode trails which i never knew that they exist.

I am in a email dispute because i feel lured in a payed subscription by opting for a week long so called “free trial”.
This was during a stay in Japan where i was looking for a hiking trail. I had a subscription before when I used Komoot on a long bike trip. I found they started billing me weekly without me knowing. I complained.
They keep pointing at Apple to settle this and now started offering me a voucher to settle things. Just received another answer with the same “no can do”.
But it ended with the suggestion to leave a review. Here it is:
Komoot is a shady business model with a AI driven helpdesk. If you use the app for a long biking trip like i did; do not be surprised when you are send on a busy moterway or on a bmx trail. Also crossing a football field was advised to me.
When you contact the helpdesk you start chatting with a AI agent trained to say no can do in a polite way.
A little research learnt me that alternatives for Komoot are available and some if them seem to be much more capable of understanding the needs of long distance bikers.

I found offline route option very useful, whether on route as well.

In about 2018 Komoot was the best of its kind I could find. So I bought the Map of the World and used it via my phone for many bicycle tours; brilliant! Since then they have added more and more layers of silliness.

The most recent lunacy is that the scale of the map you are navigating by disappears after 2 seconds. That is a distinct DOWNGRADE but Komoot Cust Serv just shrug.

It’s the best app I have ever downloaded for holidays. If you wanna go for a small walk or a longer hike, wherever you are, you can just have a look at the app and go for it! It’s so much fun to go to places where you normally would not go to, because you didn’t know you could go there! And one walk in particular: The Tres Maria’s in Spain❤️

Komoot is very helpful if you have no idea how to travel from one point to another by bike especially in an area you do not know at all.
