Cramped, with staff who seemed completely unaware they were in a customer facing environment and treated a family of 6 with young children like they were terrorists. They spent 30 minutes checking our bag because there was a power bank in there. For some reason they went through every item painstakingly rather then just taking the offending item out and rescanning it. Felt rather like they were using their small amount of power to make us feel like we were going to miss our flight.

The £8 drop-off charge itself is reasonable, but the system around it isn't. There's no payment machine and no barrier on site, just a sign and an ANPR camera. You're expected to remember, unprompted, to go online and pay within a day of leaving. No receipt, no confirmation, no reminder text or email before the deadline, even though they clearly have your registration and could easily send one.
Miss that window and there's no way to pay the original £8. It jumps straight to a £100 penalty charge, with no proportionate step in between and no warning beforehand. All the responsibility sits with the driver and none of it sits with the operator. A simple reminder before the deadline would fix this easily, or a pay point or barrier to exit. The fact that there isn't one feels less like an oversight and more like the system is designed to catch people out. Karma is gonna get you back! :)

I am pregnant and high risk. I asked for a pat down and wore just one layer of simple clothes to make it easy for them. After making me wait 20 minutes and not allowing me to stand a bit further away from the very machine I was supposed to avoid, they asked me to take my shoes off. They took me to a room with 3 women who had me there for 30 minutes and told me I either had to get the metal detector on my pregnant belly or I had to strip down naked in front of them. I was forced to accept and left the room having a panic attack and having to retrieve my suitcase and bag which had been left with security for over half an hour. I then clicked the red “unhappy” button as I left and was threatened by the manager who said “I had no reason to press it”. I have never felt so violated, threatened, abused and kidnapped in my life.

I had a fall on the escalator, and was immediately helped by a score of people. The escalator was shut down to avoid an injury, was helped to retrieve a passport and boarding pass, a policeman helped me to stand up, two ladies, Vanessa and Tina went out of their way to make sure that I was OK, and saw me through security and customs.
There are no words to thank everybody who helped, specially Vanessa and Tina.
My wife was shocked by the whole incident, and is as grateful as I am to the two ladies and everybody else involved.
Its main benefit is of course the ease of getting thru at speed and DLR into London is quick .
That shouldn’t allow the bar “Juniper&Co” to charge £15.50 for a glass of white wine . He asked “Medium or Large”? So I said medium , the smallest amount you could request and was gobsmacked by the price .. How can any bar in an airport charge £15.50 for a glass of wine? Thats robbery! It’s about 18 euro, I can buy 2 bottles of decent enough wine in Aldi/Lidl for that.
It’s outrageous and they should b pulled up about their pricing by the airport authority..Thieves is the only word for them..

Diabolical service from the Customer Service Team.
My BA flight was cancelled due to "adverse weather".
Other BA flights landed around the time mine was due to land.
London City Airport were unable to provide me with any information despite FOUR e-mail exchanges, and referred me to BA only.
They MUST have this information, but refused to assist.

How an earth can a modern airport's website be so useless? They have recently introduced a 10 minute drop-off parking fee of £8.00!!!!! So I tried to register (multiple times, for 5 days) but can't. Constantly told a code will be sent - it never is. Email to customer support - told me to ring helpline - got through only to be told they can't help. Finally received a code but website will not allow images to upload. You could not make it up. My advice - DO NOT USE THIS AIRPORT as they will absolutely fleece you for parking - it's clear that this is their objective.

Flying is all about comfort, although the airports location and size are great. Since they have installed the new screening machines everything has gone downhill. To request for a manuel pat-down you are first confronted with a unfriendly service person who tried to force you to go through the machine, after that you have to insist telling him it’s your right, furthermore they still ask you all sorts of questions and make you wait 15 minutes before taking you to a room for a pat-down. A waste of time

I had an issue with a ticket I booked with Air France. Despite many attempts to contact them via text, whats app & phone, they didn't even bother replying (that review is next!!!). As a last resort I thought I would go to the Air France desk at LCY (google told me there was one there) unfortunately, they're not there.
I had the good fortune to be directed to the KLM desk, they are affiliated with Air France and the lovely Isadora couldn't have been more helpful. She spoke to her colleague Adler & asked him to call Air France on my behalf, which he did and my issue was duly resolved.
I just want to say a big thank you to both Isadora & Adler, they epitomise what excellent Customer Service should be. They could have fobbed me of with the excuse it's nothing to do with our airline but instead couldn't have been more helpful. Next time guys I will be booking KLM!!!
Hey, what a surprise; you couldn't be left behind, you had to keep up with the rest of the thieves aka the other airports. You've taken over the high street too and now people have to pay to bring you their own customers! For You!!
Dropped my son off by car at the airport and saw the sign telling me payment was due and directing me to the airport website. Went to pay the following day only to find their website down. Tried phoning the airport umpteen times only to be told “all agents were busy” and then being hung up on Getting increasingly worried assuming a time limit and fine I tried emailing with the email addresses published on the airport website. Both the Duty Officer and Parking Office came back as undeliverable ! Totally unprofessional If you put a time limit on payment with the threat of a fine systems need to work !

My checked in luggage zipper broke as soon as i entered the airport. The airport didn’t have any luggage wrap and i couldn’t find tape anywhere. The entire airport staff and police rushed to help. They checked if they could give me an empty luggage and went around looking for tape and cellophane and eventually were able to secure cellophane from a resto and manually wrap it for me. To everyone that helped me thank you so so so so much. I wish i got all ur names but you were all angels and i am so grateful!
First time visitor to UK. This has to be the worst airport I've ever come across. I've been to many airports (big and small) in Europe, Asia, America, and Oceania. None of them had customer service like this. "Nothing we can do about lost items." This is at the lost and found! The attitude of the staff working there is complete rubbish. Offering zero assistance.
We had a hotel for 4 days and we needed to go out of the hotel really early there is a little rain in Europe so the flight is canceled now they’re saying buy on other hotel we can’t do anything for u bro, the best we can do is give a refund or get a train but they are full for 4 days so u have to wait this is these are the worst employers ever
Small airport by the Thamed. The only thing I didn't like was the cost of the breakfast.Over £23 including service charge at 12 1/2%.The most expensive meal of my trip
The guy you have on the position right in front of the security barrier is a pervert. Only greeting women that had shorts or dresses on and then following them with his eyes once they’ve left the area. Security here is chaotic and disorganised. I saw a guy aggressively shout at a customer for asking a question.
I fly from here with business and it’s a shambles. This airport is getting worse. Will start to use Gatwick if this continues. 0 out of 5.

The check in area is too small and overcrowded. The escalator is never turned on, forcing a necessary wait for the elevator. Security is a nightmare. Some staff are pleasant, some are plain rude. Machines stopped everyone and they physically searched each and every bag / personal item (so much for a random check ? More like check everyone). Nothing meaningful to do, limited shops and restaurants. Wifi is poor and unsuitable. Not enough seats (unless you go early morning). There is no lounges either at all (shocking for a so called premium airport. To board, there are no jetways or boarding ramps, they make you queue in the freezing cold and board by stairs. Too bad if you have bags as the gates have no elevators. Also gate 21 has poor lighting.
I would rather fly from Stansted, Gatwick or Heathrow despite the slower security because even then they dont seem to stop everyone. The airport is allegedly applying to allow Airbus A320NEO aircraft to the airport. The CAA should reject this proposal because the current facilities simply cannot handle extra passengers. Instead the airport should be closed down as it is a waste of space.
London City Airport is usually my fave UK airport because it’s compact , efficient and close to where I live. Sadly my impressions were let down today by a very aggressive and highly unprofessional Oversize luggage clero. Checked my bicycle in at 9:45 am Friday 7/3/25. The woman complained at the size of oversize bags and their weight! She proceeded to slam the door shut. A case of wrong person doing the wrong job to the detriment of travellers.
