incredibly slow passport control

You can’t drop bags off earlier than two hours before the flight and yet if you don’t have a European passport, you need to allocate 1-2 hours for passport control. Only 2 border police were on duty and the queue was very long. I see from other reviews that this has been the case for a few months, shame they can’t seem to get organised. Needless to say, the flight was delayed as a result of this.

This is genuinely the worst airport I have flown through with regards to customer services.
Flight at 23h30, before security all food and beverages places closed by 21h, after security all closed by 22h… can’t have a drink, can’t have food.

Men toilets already closed and having to go to women…

Flying planes till midnight but do not expect anything after 21 or 22 when inside.

Shocking airport

Shocking airport. Poor service from start to finish. Passport control was appalling, and I was just trying to leave! Nearly 1 hour waiting for two border patrol officers to process at glacial speed - they were just chatting to each other having a laugh about it. Chaos as flights were being delayed and passengers panicking. How hard is it to put some border officers in a booth to stamp some passports?

Extremely poor facilities- very limited…

Extremely poor facilities- very limited seating and only two food kiosks, with one staff member to serve multiple flights - almost as if they do not want to make any money and definitely no effort at customer service. 1hr to get a €5.80 large coffee that is only a medium at best, in anyone’s language! Check in was standard busy but efficient. Security was busy but moving. @Jet2 could do with picking a better regional airport.

Very loud announcements

We had an ok time but two comments:
It would be better if the announcements were made only for passengers awaiting the flight instead of for the full airport, and less loud. It is really tiring to hear very loud announcements every 5 minutes for flights that you are not taking.

The security staff was also openly rude to his female colleagues in front of clients by making sexist comments and jokes.

Worst airport I have been to

This is one of, if not the worst airport I have ever been. Some of the staff are clearly homophobic or racist and have harassed me in front of other staff and passengers.
Distressing and horrible way to end what was a fantastic week holiday. Also abusing of position and possibly breaching GDPR regulation.
Staff need immediate training on how to deal with humans and if they can’t learn, I believe they should change their job.
I hope I have never to visit this airport again.

An absolute horror show

An absolute horror show. Zero customer service throughout. Fast lane is average at best. Probably the worst is the Fnac at Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport, Terminal 1, might be one of France’s great embarrassments. What a dismal way to welcome visitors from around the world. If the staff find their jobs so tedious that they can’t even greet customers with a smile, let alone provide basic service efficiently, then perhaps they should consider work better suited to their abilities, like working in factories or fruit picking. No amount of training could correct such an abhorrent attitude. Fnac would be better off getting rid of such nuisances! Then, the Mont Blanc salon. Same story. Staff there looking like they absolute hate their jobs and I’ve seen no improvements whatsoever over the years in terms of F&B variety, freshness or quality of the products, not to mention cleanliness. Even BA business class offers better service overall — and that says a lot!

Lyon Airport avoid at all costs at present !!

This was indeed the worst ever airport departure …one of the busiest days of the year & 2 passport controllers moving at the speed of a snail

Infact snails would have moved faster …a 2 hour wait in the queue thank goodness Jet2 stayed put as our flight was delayed further after ground crew clearly had no concept of how to load a plane ..well over 3hours delay…

Passengers getting off other passengers trying to get off as the plane was about to leave.

Hats off to Border Force the French could definately do with lessons in how to carry out passport control !

French Buracracy at its absolute best ..:avoid if at all possible not the way to finish an absolutely cracking week’s skiing…Lyon Airport sort yourself out having 2 passport controllers when it’s I busy is just not acceptable open all the counters to alleviate this issue it’s not difficult !!

Where are the staff?

This is the most shambolic airport I have ever visited.
Car hire drop - not bad but shuttle bus absolutely packed and didn’t take us to the terminal - we had to change buses.
Check in - no signs just a piece of A4 on a stand. Far too few people checking in.
Security - shambolic. 3 lines open on a busy morning. Skeleton staff - all stressed.
Passport Control - 2 officers/sloths ONLY. With 5 flights leaving in a 2 hour period you would think all would be ok. We waited 90 minutes. It only sped up when a customer phoned airline & french immigration - at last 2 extra officers arrived. One “got it” and pushed everyone through whilst the other one just shook his head at his screen. Sloths carried on unperturbed.
Catering
One coffee shop this side of passport control - one after.
Both had one attendant/sloths each. Interminable wait for what was left - which was hardly anything.
At the gate - 2 hours delayed and literally 1 lady checking passes and passports.
On another gate there was clearly an issue as the Captain and airport manager were counting the passes with the captain saying “…. absolute shambles”
Before we left - further delay because the push back crew were unavailable. There were hardly any other flights… unbelievable.
